Just by looking at this video you can see how f*cked up the west would be if soviets invaded Europe. Early 1980s USSR was probably at its peak military strength.
@@rickenman9844 I have a very close associate from the USSR, who (just to clarify) was not a Communist Party member, and he tells me and many of his former colleagues (he moved here to Australia in 2011) that while yes, lots was spent on the military, a FAR larger percentage of their state budget was spent on social programs, consumer goods and the very reliable state healthcare and education systems. Also, insurance wasn't a thing in the USSR, because the state would always accept responsibility for most damages and losses, and would reimburse in most cases. As for the collapse, at this point, people can form their own opinions about anything, because nobody really knows. Most former politburo members from back then are dead now, and Gorbachev (in my opinion) cannot be trusted, so... I guess we'll never know... Apart from Yeltsin's part in it of course. Though I think it is fair to say that Perestroika was a complete failure, given that as soon as Gorbachev introduced privatisation, the economy tanked, and the unemployment rate skyrocketed, as opposed to the Brezhnev/Andropov/Chernenko Era, where the economy, whilst stagnant, was still growing, and there was 0% unemployment, a series of facts which everyone ignores.
@@jarvo2616 I should have definitely done some more research before writing what I did. I guess the point I want to make is that these military parades ate up a ton of the country's budget whenever they were held, money that could have very well been put to better use; the reason I was alluding to social programs. I feel the same way about Reagan's Star Wars Program; with all that money being spent on strategic defense, couldn't at least SOME of it be put to a different use?

@Srikar Pulipaka For that to happen somehow Russia has to convince 14 countries to once again join them. It is simply not possible. It is like pre partition India simply won’t happen. Even India Pakistan have a greater chance of reuniting because they are the same people but USSR had so many different ethnicities held together by the red army.
@@KillerofWestoids Pakistan and India is a religious issue. Even before the USSR, those 15 countries were under the Russian empire for centuries. In 1991, the USSR conducted a referendum whether to dissolve the union or not. Overwhelming majority of citizens voted in favour of preserving the union (some republics boycotted). Even recent polls suggest most citizens in former republics crave for ressurection of the union. @Savinder Singh BAINS Yup. I know some of my Russian friends who are passionate about USSR. They're millennials. I just reiterated their opinion. Just just miss the fact that their country isn't a superpower which it was.
It's sad because they thought it was the last time they were gonna get to play it before WW3, which very well could have started had Able Archer gone differently than expected that year.

the first and last revolution day for Yuri Andropov as leader of the Soviet Union
Well he participated in other celebrations of the revolution, but I'm assuming you mean him as the leader?
Early 1980s: Height of soviet military’s power.

When you start looking for Andropov in the video, get frustrated and Google it...
And realize he wasn't even there. He called in sick. 😭
This was also right in the middle of Able Archer 83, so many in the Leadership were probably preoccupied.

Warmest revolution day.
Sounds like 1985 Victory Day.
one of the saddest anthems that have been recorded in the revolution parades.
Bruh it's sounds good to me maybe he in a sad mood ■_■
No ur wrong george
Sound good but not as powerful as the 1981 and 1985 versions.
It's sad because they thought it was the last time they were gonna get to play it before WW3, which very well could have started had Able Archer gone differently than expected that year.
One of the saddest are in 1989 and 1990, in 1983 was very beautiful and strong.
Bye uni Soviet, since 1991
