Hey Jurijs, great video! We had a similar issue in the past with a dentist installation, too. Tried everything, and none of the solutions really worked. The bacterial bloom was insane and quickly clogged the filters and skimmers between the maintenance sessions. We even created a larger DIY skimmer just for this purpose. I spent some time digging through the internet back then and read a case where they changed the disinfectant to something else non-alcohol-based). I'm unsure if this is possible and may need more study. But the display tank we had was covered with panels, used vents to keep out the air pollution issue and even in that case, we had serious problems with it. - Viktor
Cheers Viktor, that’s what I found out too. I have another dentist tank, luckily the other one is build into the wall, is fully covered and has lids inside. But even this one suffers from rapid biofilm buildup inside the filter. Cleaning the Biomaster prefilter and biweekly, sometimes weekly intervals.
How about a glass lid? That's your first line of defense. I would design it so it fits over the edges, like some boxes with a lid. A little loose, so some air can still flow under it.
Will try, the problem is the dry chamber in the middle and filter pipes sticking out of it. I would need multiple part glass lid to fully cover the entire surface
13:26 Fish suggestions: Cherry shrimps, pygmy cory's, blue purple emperor tetra's. Sanitize problem: a custom-made lid. Not an expert, but common sense told me: maybe a surface skimmer?
unfassbar schönes becken und so simpel! Ich wäre ja großer fan von Fadenfischen in dem Becken... Evtl Mondscheinfadenfische aber für Kinder sind Mosaikfadenfiische oder gelbe Fadenfische sicherlich spannender
a laser cut high quality acrylic sheets with some holes and 2 surface skimmers with fine micron water polishing wool at both end of the tank would help! its much quicker and easy to clean skimmer!
Skimmers will clog in 48 hours.. I have filter outflow pointed towards surface so surface film is not an issue. It’s what builds up inside the filter within 2/3 weeks and on all surfaces inside the aquarium in literally no time
@@JurijsJutjajevs oh okay! I think a fully covered canopy with ventilation will give some relief! The root cause here is the sanitiser so obviously that should be controlled to the max and if extensive maintenance of canister is the issue. I would go with sump filtration and automatic filter rolls like the ones we use in marine systems
Bro your my favorite acquascaper...after whatching your videos I change my acquarium eheh A month ago I received my ScaperLine 90, I set it up Iwagumi style... Hardcape: -10 Kg dragon stone. -21 Kg Oase ScaperSoil. Drystart method with 20 cups of eleocharis mini. As for the remineralization of the osmotic water I decided to use ShrimpMineral GH/KH+. For fertilization 2HR AQUARIST APT 1 the first months to switch to APT 3 later... Ty again for all your videos 💪👍
Get a sheet of Perspex or some cheap plastic and cut it to fit as a lid? I’d also try planting something tall in front of your filter as it takes away from how lovely the tank is.
Nice scape and love the rocks but I don't understand all the filter pipes hanging out from the center column? Perhaps I've missed something but it completely detracts from all the hard work that was put into the project???
How tall does the Crypt grow eventually? I would like Pentazona Barbs in there. Pretty sure i recommended them for other scapes as well. They school together well and stay in the bottom half of the aquarium.
@JurijsJutjajevs i have Crypt Balansea in my Juwel Rio 350. But my wie doesnt like how the leaves grow to the top and float over the surface. I dont mind it. The fish love hanging out underneath them. But i would consider it if i find a smaller Crypt. Echinodorus is eaten alive by my otocinclus, clown pleco and ancistrus. So thats not an option :)
@@JurijsJutjajevs wouldn’t the surface skimmer in the outlet from aquario be a good solution? it doesn’t have a sponge in it it just mix the surface film with the flow
Surface film is not a big issue it’s the build up of slime inside the filter. And yes I’ve used the aquario skimmer previously on this setup, it works great
@@JurijsJutjajevs yes, I understand...I was thinking it was a surface film that then got into the water column and then into the filter. I sure hope you find a solution that works well!
Another suggestion. Stop using canister filter or any filter at all and you won’t have anything to clean. The aquarium has a lot of surfaces right now anyway with all the plants, leaves, soil, stones, glass, everything is full of beneficial bacteria. Also your plant choices don’t produce many leaf debris so they won’t disintegrate inside your aquarium to produce nitrates that fast. Just use wave makers, one for surface agitation on the right looking upwards to break the oil layer, and one for the water column to circulate water looking downwards on the left. Or, you can buy those smaller inner filters and place them on that black column so you just clean those easier and faster. Also rebalance your dosages and your livestock to a minimum if that helps with the new “setup”. After 25 years of having aquariums and having tried all aquascape styles I realized that you can reach the same results by just not using canister filters on a well established aquarium but have water movement 24/7 by small well hidden wave makers or smaller inner filters.
thats exactly how UV's work, but my main problem is the extreme bacteria inside the filter that almost completely blocking the flow and requires frequent filter cleaning
Maybe it’s more work than it’s worth but replacing the superjet with an overflow box in the centre column and a simple sump with just a roller mat and the media would probably cut down on the maintenance. I know you have a little bit of experience with sump’s and in the marine side of the hobby this would be considered relatively low tech. Just an idea. Beautiful layout by the way and I think just adding more cardinals is the perfect fish choice!

With carpeting plants 1 cup = 10x10cm if you want a dense carpet relatively quickly. With other plants it's similar but depends on plant quantity you get per cup/pot and future size of the plant. ie a single big Echinododus will take 15x15 or 20x20 ground space per plant
This is why I love real aquascapers... to stop the sanitizer, a regular planted tank hobbyist would think, A LID.. but a true aquascaper rather come up with a solution that doesn't involve an ugly lid on their art. A lid would be the last resort.
Would it help to lay paper towels on water surface to remove biofilm before it gets in the water column? I don't know how it all works so I'm asking you, a professional. 🤍

Add a lid a guess. Tank looks great!
Looks stunning, such a lush forest of crypts!
Thanks, I wish I could just focus on plant growth - the crypts would look even more beautiful
It looks stunning in its simplicity 👏🏻🙌🏻
Thank you! 😊
Great video as always! Thanks for your advice Juris it really helped me get my channel figured out.
You welcome Jeff, glad you joined the game
What a great final result! The crypts filled in nicely! 😊
thanks friend, I hope you are well?
@@JurijsJutjajevs Things are going well, though it would be nice if the sun came out a bit more often 🤣 It's been a very grey December!
Yeah, love sunny winter days
Beautiful carpet and crypts! Some honey gouramis would look great in there. Someone else said emperor tetras and that would be terrific as well.

A glass cutter company can provide you with a lid that includes a cut out for the dry chamber. Can use small stainless steel clips to suspend it.
Under regular conditions skimmers would help, in this case they would last no longer than 2 days and it’s impossible to service them in this interval
13:26 Fish suggestions: Cherry shrimps, pygmy cory's, blue purple emperor tetra's.
Sanitize problem: a custom-made lid. Not an expert, but common sense told me: maybe a surface skimmer?
Glass cover as first barrier will help, great fish suggestions too
You could use an egg crate lid with clear Perspex on the tank to try and prevent the biofilm issue
If you install lids, maybe you could use an air pump. Mounted remotely outside building or in a cabinet to feed fresh air in?
getting air from outside will be close to impossible, but lids should help reduce amount of aerosols landing on water
Perhaps a UV sterilizer and a surface skimmer could help?
The moment you rubbed the rock on your face reminded me to like the video 🤣💜
If that helps, I'll do it more often
The creativity you shows in your aquascaping is fabulous as well as in editing 😂❤

As others have mentioned a lid would help. Do you use purigen? It might help bind to some of the contaminants.

With public aquariums dark start is sometimes difficult, but whenever it is - it’s the best way to go
Why not just add a polycarbonate or glass lid. Would solve you're problem easily and also reduce evaporation and fish jumping (if any)

Shame about the big black box in the middle, kind of ruins the aesthetics.
