Bookkeeping is something that directly affects the customer positively or negatively. My question is one that many people fail to foresee until that dreadful moment and that is accountability. How do we fix or deal with these issues should they arise and they will? So knowing how to deal with a customer so that you end up pleasing them and not paying for it. These things can go to court and are just as important as learning Quickbooks or data entry.

Morgan, I just wanted to let you know I finally got my first client. It's a local preschool and I am converting their QB Desktop Pro to QBO and then I'll do setup and training with the owner. Then I was contacted by a local non-profit to do their credit card entries into QB enterprise. You have inspired me greatly in my endeavors starting with my ProAdvisor certification and starting my LLC to onboarding clients and deciding my monthly/hourly rates. Thank you! I appreciate you.😊

    I just completed the course. It’s no longer free, but reasonable ($45). There’s a 2nd layer - a Q&A session. It’s $47 (?) to listen and $179 (this may not be right - but it’s close).
I opted to listen to the Q&A only and I’m glad I did. Many people had exactly the same questions and hadn’t listened in class OR the other times it had been asked.
The class had good information BUT many of the early promises would only be delivered if you signed up for the mentorship program. It’s now $5999 or $7499 if you want to break it up into two easy payments.
    Too rich for me!
Was the class worthwhile? Definitely! He sends you a free copy of his book, but I had downloaded the Kindle version for free.

Hi, thank you. I just found out about the $47 week long class (approximately 8hours long?) plus a few extras. He says “everything you need for your book keeping business”. I assume you did the same course that I am seeing. Do you feel you can have a bookkeeping business as a result of this course, or that technically, with the q&a, that it could happen, perhaps with continued review of your materials, without the added 6k or 7k addition?

Take Bookkeeper Launch instead, it’s less than half the price. I did the week long Booming Bookkeeping Challenge for the $47 plus $47 for VIP and that was great, but I was bummed out that the full session was $4997 if paid in 1 lump sum, or $5991 paid in 3 installments of $1997, with a $997 deposit. No smaller payment options, which just seems weird. They say “if you want to do it you will find a way.” I guess… but coming up with an extra $2k a month is not as easy as the $249 for Bookkeeper Launch, which seems way more in line with the pricing of someone just trying to start out. Just my honest opinion!

      Hey!
Both Bookkeeper Launch and Booming Bookkeeping are high quality programs that will successfully train you to be a bookkeeper (if you do as they teach). They cover accounting concepts, QBO, marketing, setting up your business (license, website, etc), and have some kind of community where you can ask questions.
Bookkeeper Launch pros: This program is more robust, has a big network, better known, and a strength is individual email help. Morgan finds Ben to be more wordy (she doesn’t like) & detailed and she likes the visuals better in this program.
      Sign up here: sk293.isrefer.com/go/BLIO/ML82/
Booming Bookkeeping pros: This program focuses on learning bookkeeping and marketing. There is also more personal interaction with Bill (pro/con). Morgan finds Bill to be more concise, but she doesn’t enjoy the visuals as much.

Dumb question but when it comes taxes for a freelance web designer and just taxes in general, whenever they're due, it means the taxes for the previous year right?
So the income I earn this year I'd pay taxes for them in 2023?
Also I'm 21, just started working for myself, my parents always handled my taxes since I worked normal jobs back then

    • @FinePointsBookkeeping
      @FinePointsBookkeeping  2 роки тому +3

      Hi Kareliz,
Both Bookkeeper Launch and Booming Bookkeeping Business are high quality programs that will successfully train you to be a bookkeeper (if you do as they teach). They cover accounting concepts, QBO, marketing, setting up your business (license, website, etc), and have some kind of community where you can ask questions.
Bookkeeper Launch pros: This program is more robust, has a big network, better known, and a strength is individual email help. I find Ben to be more wordy (I don’t like) & detailed and I like the visuals better in this program. (Sign up here: sk293.isrefer.com/go/BLFS/ML82/)
Booming Bookkeeping pros: This program is cheaper with a focus on marketing (both huge pros!). There is also more personal interaction with Bill (pro/con). I find Bill to be more concise, but I don’t enjoy the visuals as much. (They are currently doing a website redesign, so I don't have the sign up link, please reach out if you are interested in this when they go live!)
I hope this helps you decide which course is best for you!

Hmm, I would say yes, depending on what your needs are. I find people with book knowledge sometimes still need the practical advice for being a contract bookkeeper/accountant. Check out the "table of contents" that I showed in the video to see if those things interest you. I also have a decision tree chart that talks about doing a more diy approach if you don't want to take a big course: Chart: where to start bookkeeping? finepoints.newzenler.com/f/decision-tree-chart

Dwayne - I have a BS in Accounting but wanted to branch out and open my own bookkeeping business. I researched several programs and decided to go with Booming Bookkeeping. The course is designed to teach people with no knowledge of bookkeeping/accounting to be competent in everyday bookkeeping entries. Once you start the course, you can pick and choose which modules you want to watch. I was mostly interested in the pricing calculator and marketing information but watched all the modules over time to see if I missed anything that could be useful. I started in June of this year and currently have three clients using his techniques. I have also recently made a connection with an Accountant that needs help and wants to subcontract 20 - 30 clients to me. I am starting that soon. Overall, I am happy with the program.

That gets you into the "5-Day Challenge," in which you're given a birdseye overview of what it's like to be a bookkeeper and do the tasks a bookkeeper does. The training is actually pretty slight. To get into the Mentorship Program, Bill just made it a lot easier to get in. If you can afford the $5k price tag, you pay nothing more. But if not, there's another way to join the Mentorship Program: if you took the 5-Day Challenge for $47, then you only pay a monthly fee of $200. The caveat is that if you miss a membership (subscription) payment or cancel, then you have to pay a set-up fee of $2,500 to rejoin the program.

I think I get what you’re asking. The payment plan breaks up the payments over twelve months, but the actual time it takes to complete the program is only a few months.

Buyer beware! I have in my life time have taken courses not in accounting but in real estate and had gotten a RE lic, appraisals and so on, you really have put your self forward and spend a great deal of money just to get started, remember you are taking a correspondence course not CPA and I would believe any business would ratter have a CPA working for them.

Hey! It is possible to shift into a bookkeeping career without prior accounting experience, and you don't need any official certifications or training to be a bookkeeper!
Morgan created a great playlist for getting started in bookkeeping, which can help answer your questions on starting without experience and what you would need to do first: ua-cam.com/video/2tZOoXoZC_w/v-deo.html

Please elaborate because I bet you're just in his "teaser" class. I bet you're just taking the $47-$147 course like me. It's a bait and switch "teaser" to get you all excited and then you'll learn at the end that (heck, you might be in my class right now. My 5 day class is Oct 21-25, 2024.) I'm glad I found this video, because according to KathyBieerman9545 (directly below) and I agree with her, the class had good information BUT many of the early promises would only be delivered if you signed up for the mentorship program. It’s now $5999 or $7499 if you want to break it up into two easy payments.😠😠😠😠

Not sure if this an honest ad from Bill. for $47 dollars, normally $1997. He is advertising a 5 day class. Could you learn bookkeeping in 5 days only 90 minutes per day? Or is this a paid ad to take his more expensive course? Quote "The 5-Day Keyboard Rich Bookkeeping Challenge" "How Anyone Can Earn 6 Figures from Home with a Simple Bookkeeping Business (While Working Less Than Your 9-5)" ... Q&A "I don't know anything about bookkeeping. Can I still be successful? Absolutely! Most of the people who join the Keyboard Rich Challenge have no prior bookkeeping knowledge. We'll teach you what you need to know to be successful."

I wil be honest. The people who probably need to learn a new skill that pays decently the most, are those who already are struggling. And cannot afford to go to college. And these people are the ones who may be priced out. The ones who can afford it will be fine. Im sorry though, that some people won't be able to. They will need to find another way. Unless someone can come up with that money. I will say he isn't a scam, he does respond to people. It's just really expensive.

All bookeeper jobs I see on places like INDEED, require CPA certification, and /or other certifications. So, on top of this class, you will need to prep and pay for the certification tests. Certifications need to be updated and redone every year or two. These courses sound scammy.

Cmon, why would anybody hire some shlub who bought an internet calculator program and allow them access to the business balance sheets and financial records. There ain't no way these people are getting hired on to any legit business. Sorry, not happening. You're better off taking your 5 grand and buying a small cleaning/housekeeping franchise. Business owners will surely hire you to clean their commode, but not so much to screw around with their money. All of these businesses have been operating just fine for the past several decades by keeping their own books, why on earth would they pay some crum bum 80$/hour to keep track of their books that are already being done by the owner.
