Yes it is. If you love this, you should really listen to the albums "At Sixes and Sevens" and "An Elixir For Existance" (This is where the song Euphoria came from) This was Sirenia at their peak. I wouldn't suggest to Listen to "Nine Destinies and a downfall" or "The 13th Floor" as the classical instruments, the clean male vocals, and growls have been stripped sadly...unless you're into that style too. But let me tell you, I was saddened when they did that
Whenever you visit this band website or survey their work,One's adjudication can only deem them the best band on planet earth. Metal, Goth, and the elements of sound. They diversify this culture into the epitome of music engineering.
Fabienne, the French vocalist, was the session singer on At Sixes And Sevens. She was followed on An Elixir For Existence by Henriette Bordvik, who I think was actually considered a member of the band, and then replaced by Monika Pederson on Nine Destinies. Now they are looking for a new vocalist...
Damn can't beleave that great bands ...Nightwish Within Temptation Sirenia after forever and all--they sound different these days..there is nothing like the old albums
Agree, people agrue so much about what genre a band belongs to that they forget what really matters. As long as you enjoy the music it doesnt matter what genre it is. Categorization leads to dividing.
I don't like to toke up much anymore, but I WILL be sure to listen to this with the substances of my choice flowing through my veins! Excellent idea,Melirune! Hell!-even with this caffeine & xanax high, this is BLISS! And Pink Floyds "Us and Them" is a definite classic! You've got a good ear!
yo amo a la chica de la banda sirenia es grandiosa babda de rock creo que seran los ganadores doto los corazones de los metaleros barones y henbra mataleras en ralidad me gustan todas las banda de metallica
atenasaori the composer of Sirenia is the member that created Tristania, and than he was fired, and then created Sirenia... that's why they sound alike :D when i first heared them both i saw that they have something in common, than i found out this explication :)
@ComaLies225 - Of course it does. It morphed in such a massive way that it became a polarised the tarja vs anette community instead of being a graduation of the band.
It's gothic metal. Many of these bands mix growls with female vocals. You should listen to Tristania's old albums if you like this! They were, just like Sirenia's songs are, composed by Morten Veland.
sometimes there must be a balance between embracing what you love and submitting to a functional part of the system, yet, your ideals will always remain within you and no one can take them away noting how dorky (even if truthful) that sounds I can tell you there are ways to function within this system without sacrificing aspects of yourself for the sakes of society, but you have to be REALLY good at it. then the system submits to you, not the other way around
I love their music but with the new vocalist, the blonde one was really pop voice hehe! =S I LOVE THEIR NEW SONG CALLED "THE SEVENTH SUMMER" listen to it.
Completely agree with the best gothic metal bands part! Don't forget Paradise Lost and My Dying Bride. I do like Sirenia alot though, I just don't consider them pure gothic metal. They're a mix of gothic, death, symphonic etc
Epic song! I love the guitar X3 If anyone could find a tab for this and link it to me, I'd be the happiest person ever XD I can't find shit for tabs...
@ComaLies225 I also seemed to forget to mention that Nightwish became mainstream way before Anette joined. Century Child and Once completely changed them to the point Turunen's vocals aren't even as operatic as they used to be and the direction of music changed. Clearly, someone was either ignorant, misguided or just needed to jump on the hate anette band wagon.
Goth noun 2) An building style used in medieval times and later in victorian times. 2) A literature style of which Dracula and other supernateral horrors were written in. 3) A music genre that came about in the 80's as an of shoot of punk. 4) A subculture of people who are seen to be more open minded to other cultures, sexualities etc. This definition do change from person to person (Dictionary Reference) P.S. Don't think you can figure people out by looking a word up in dictionary..
Tristania("widow's weed"=the best gothic metal album,"beyond the veil")++++,also Moonspell(irreligious) and amorphis(tales of a thousand lakes)but i don't know much of these two last bands.
lol....anything is possible in the talent industry(music, movie, etc)...that is certain. XD who knows....the second sounds interesting but i also like your first. im also thinking that the female vocalists just seem to have other things to do. =)
I think the original Poster was thinking of Symphonic Metal but couldn't word the genre right. Anyways, anyone who says Nightwish became a pop band are clearly misguided. They're last album still sounds as epic as ever and still uses a combination of classical instruments and metal. Just because Anette isn't singing in an operatic style doesn't mean the genre of the band changed.
Yes it is.
If you love this, you should really listen to the albums "At Sixes and Sevens" and "An Elixir For Existance" (This is where the song Euphoria came from)

It's gothic metal.

@EliorFein This is An Elixir for Existence
@Blodmork This song is actually about drugs and drug addiction due to having a hard time in life. lol.
Totally agree with you, ComaLies225!
lol....anything is possible in the talent industry(music, movie, etc)...that is certain.
XD who knows....the second sounds interesting but i also like your first. im also thinking that the female vocalists just seem to have other things to do. =)
That's true
yeah i know draconian. i was just referring to the likes of (old) Robert Westerholt (spell check) from Within Temptation
I think the original Poster was thinking of Symphonic Metal but couldn't word the genre right.
