Chad, Jolene, & Rod, thank you for taking us along for an adventure. That was an interesting tour of Derek's place he had a lot of interesting Antiques and things that I have never seen before. There will be plenty to do if you decide to make the Austin roadworthy again. I see a roof chop in the future. Jolene thank you for the great video, it was really nice to be able to get closeups of his variety of antiques especially with Derek having items that I have never seen before. Enjoy the rest of your day in Nova Scotia be back tomorrow!
Any body that gives you something free ! You got to respect that person ! Thumbs-up Jolene ❤this content is special ! Thumbs-up guys team Hiltz is making friends and turning milestones ! Great video!
seems to me that what he gave was once this gentleman's Parts-Car... but you are correct in Chad's hands it WILL be something... I like Chad's idea of a Gasser
Derec seems like a great guy and very knowledgeable! The great thing about people like him is that he is preserving the history of so many things! What a great episode!!!!!
Always nice to be on tour with you guys, great gesture of Derrick to give that little Austin for a new project, it's always nice to trade stuff for free ,helping each other out ,also nice to see all the stuff Derrick has ,great collection, thanks for sharing
143rd! I could sit for for days listening to Derek’s stories and all his antiques. I love to hear older gentleman tell all about the old days. They know more than what’s on a phone or a computer! He probably knows more about cars than any mechanic that’s under 50 years old. Roger in Pierre South Dakota USA
The Austin Countryman was originally built as a panel van and they were converted by putting in windows and seats . Here in UK I can remember guys who bought the vans and self converted them . The vans were about half the price of a car , so , buy an old van and convert convert it yourself . In the years from the end of ww2 till we joined the EEC we had purchase tax which was added , depending on what you were buying , was added to the price . Vans were exempt until you put rear windows in . We used to convert them to cars by fitting them in . If you declared them to Dept of Transport you had to pay the difference so we didn’t. Saved a lot of money ! !!
I like to crosswood station wagon. This man has a wonderful collection. His knowledge of the individual Parts is fantastic. Instead of cutting your car down and making it into a two-door, how about the suicide doors conversion? You mentioned other things you can do with the car but that one appeals to me most. Of course you could section the car which I haven't seen anybody do that in a long time. Chop in the top sounds great. It will be interesting to see what you do with this car, I'm assuming a customized hot rod.
What a nice fella! Derrick has quite the Collection of Cars and odds and ends from the ole! Thanks for sharing another well filmed video and God Bless you all!
I never thought I'd see an A40 Devon on a US channel. A friend of my mother ran one for decades. My Dad had an A40 Somerset that replaced it. They didn't have a lot of performance, but they would run flat out for hours. Without good dampers, they would pitch a bit and make you car sick. The chassis and drive train was used in the Austin/Nash Metropolitan - someone's strange idea of what a small English car had to look like to sell in the US.
Yes please restore or do a Bad Chad Rest-o-Mod. Thanks to Jolene for including in the video some glimpses of the beautiful Fall Foliage of nova Scotia which is something we do not get down here on the Texas Gulf coast. The Austin A-XX was agreat little econobox for its day.
Great show, love those road trips. Dereck sure knows his stuff. Can`t believe all the antiques he owns, sitting on a gold mine there. Keep up the great work.
Well the good thing is you have been to Australia and you have seen how those Aussies build their Gassers ... Sure there could be some ideas based on their builds .. Great score and it is a really unique car which is right up your Alley.. ...
THAT WAS COOL SEEING ALL THOSE OLD CARS AND ALL THE OLD TOOLS WITH EVERYTHING ELSE THERE!!! GREAT VIDEO JOLENE AND CHAD... IT'S FUN WATCHING THESE KINDS OF VIDEO'S!!!
Hi Brad, if you look behind the sun visor ,you will find the details of the car. With the early dash, and no front door wind deflectors in the glass ,I would say it’s a 1949 or 50 A40 DEVON GS2 .Made in LONGBRIDGE GREAT BRITAIN.Regards john
hi from new zealand, when we were kids dad had an old rusty a40 that us 12yr olds got going and learnt to drive in doing heaps of skids round the farm, there was a tv program called the dukes of hazzard we all loved so it was decided that i was gonna jump the a40 off the truckdeck height loading bank yeehaa! I leaft the bank at 40 mph thinking i was gonna fly but the car was so heavy it nosedived into the ground , no seatbelts those days, one sore boy and a hole in the ground to cover over b4 the old man got home,
An A40 Devon. I've always wanted an A40 Dorset, the two door version, or modify one into a two door, extend the door etc. Not so many were made of the Dorset but used a bit during the Gasser wars. Some cool hot rods have been built out of them.
Much respect to this gentleman. Everything runs and looks good. Gives away what he doesn't want. No cat so i wonder what his wife will do with all his stuff when he passes?
Greetings from Down Under. My first car was a 1951 Austin A40 Devon. I believe that one to be a 1950 model because of the lack of quarter windows in the front. Mine also had a sun roof and as a silly kid, with my mates, we would get it up to speed in top gear and put a brick on the accelerator pedal. I would climb up on the roof and steer with my feet. All was good and no one got killed.
Ideal project car. Would appriciate if there was a show where you would show the history of this car. I have never seen this model. It has a bit of a Donald Duck vibe. Maybe you can make it into the Donald Duck convertible. In a vibrant red.
Enjoyed your trip. That is a way cool car, it will be interesting to see where you go with it. The actress comedian who did the ringy dingy thing was Lilly Tomlinson, a repeting sketch on Saturday Night Live. Hysterical. My friend had a phone set up just like that in his motel, and also has a picture of her at his switch. You should of got a basket of those grapes, they make a great jelly.
Hey Guys That flight control modulator thing might work well on one of the doors for your steps or engine bay or maybe both on the Bugatti Hauler for opening and closing them doors, just a thought, I think most things made have more use than what it was intended for ✌️😎👍
Austin A40’s were very popular in Australia in the sixties…. Some of the hot rods were quite popular. We always laughed with the original size of exhaust pipes.. easily replaced with water pipe!
G day from Australia back in the sixties when I was 12 years old I bought one of those a40s for $2 in good nick I drove it around the paddocks for months. Then cut the body off and drove the chassis. It would make good gasser. Love what you do.
1963 we moved from Tulsa to Calgary. My pop was in the oil business. Our neighbors kid had a flat gray one. Smoke a little at start up but always started. Unsure of year. I had never seen one before?
cooler than dangit. Great collector and custodian of a lot of great old stuff. sure wish someone would give me an old car , or even sell me one at a reasonable price. You have some great friends and viewers, don't forget to be thankful!
Austin A40 Somerset, my dad's first car here in the UK ,I always felt sick in it because it used to bounce a lot. Wasn't a very good car, his next car was a Hillman Minx which was a different ball game, comfortable and quiet fast ,for the day.
Cool old car for free..I know Chad will make something cool out of it.. Looks like a little museum in that building and he's got tons of info on all that stuff..very cool episode 😎..cya tomorrow guys
Great project car gifted from Derrick. I am thinking Derrick has the largest private collection of old tools...WOW. He sure does have some different stuff.
Hi Jolene and Chad. Chad I know that you will make it the way you want it and it will look good for you have a great amagination when it comes to building cars. God bless you all and have a blessed night
Hello all! Cool little car, with a lot of possibilities. Was a Ineresting tour of Derrick's place. He has a lot of knowledge, talent and intrest to history.
Very cool I have seen lot of collections. I went to a guys house to buy a John deere garden tractor and the guy collected garden tractors. He had one of everything.
With the economy as it is, it's nice to see the barter system coming back. And as always I really enjoy seeing the respect Chad shows people when they want to show off the collections.
My dad had one of them. When he died it sat outside cos Mum Didn't have a license to drive. So she made the effort and passed her test. Unfortunately I think it really was designed for men to drive and the clutch and steering were very heavy. She ended up trading it for a Datsun Bluebird from Ira Berk's showroom.
A good example proving that one man's junk is another man's treasure. What is Derrick going to do with all that old stuff he has so carefully collected?
I agree that is cooler that dang.. I'm all about a gasser crown vic Ford ranger or s10 chassis straight axle move the engine farther back almost under the windshield those back wheels he got for the plymouth poking out the sides maybe set in the back seat
My dad had one of these back in the 60's when I was a nipper, I was fascinated by the trafficators. It was problematic starting on cold mornings and the crank handle had to be used.
I see a 60’s dragster in that little Austin. Maybe an LS automatic with big tires out back and skinny ones in front. Candy apple red and fender well headers.
Chad, Jolene, & Rod, thank you for taking us along for an adventure. That was an interesting tour of Derek's place he had a lot of interesting Antiques and things that I have never seen before. Yeah yup yup yup
One may believe you have enough on your plate .
Luv to see one completely finished including interior and driving down the road.
Always nice to be on tour with you guys, great gesture of Derrick to give that little Austin for a new project, it's always nice to trade stuff for free ,helping each other out ,also nice to see all the stuff Derrick has ,great collection, thanks for sharing

You used to convert the vans into cars. Is that what you are telling us?
I think that’s what I said isn’t it?
Make sure when you go back to pick up the radiator you take Derrick a hat and a t-shirt, giving you the car for free show how much he likes you.
I like to crosswood station wagon. This man has a wonderful collection. His knowledge of the individual Parts is fantastic. Always a pleasure to tag along, we never know what we will see and that's all part of the fun Thanks!
I hope you keep this old beauty.

Just curious what will become of this car. Man has some great antiques. Jolene always does a fabulous job with the camera.

Enjoy your videos, was wondering what the grill in the hauler would look like with a vertical bar with diagonal bars on each side
Can’t wait to see one of these projects completed.
Thanks for showing the guy's collection, it's neat to see stuff that took years to aquire and you may never see any where else
Thanks Derrick for the tour. You’ve got quite a bit of treasures to enjoy.

What a wonderfully interesting collection of so much from years gone by. That man deserves a medal of recognition!
This should be Great 👍 Go for it Chad 👁 🐅 👌

That little Austin looks decent. Modern 4 four banger in and little paint it could be a fun daily driver
Chad your honesty is refreshing. We need more people like you to say you are not very good at something. I really enjoyed the 1920s oil bottle.
The first thing I thought was there's the haulers grill......Man what a great collection thanks for letting us all in..
Ideal project car. Would appriciate if there was a show where you would show the history of this car. I have never seen this model. It has a bit of a Donald Duck vibe. Maybe you can make it into the Donald Duck convertible. In a vibrant red.
Thanks for taking us on another great tour of Derriks collection Chad and Jolene. It was awesome.
You guys live in wonderful community. I can’t believe the camaraderie and generosity. Thank you for sharing this trip with us.
great adventure. You have REAL nice people all over N S. Thank you for this wonderful video. Ms. Jolene you are perfection, talented.
Enjoyed your trip. That is a way cool car, it will be interesting to see where you go with it. I think that character came from Rowan and Martin’s Laugh in, no SNL
Go for it but only once you have finished your current projects. So many half finished projects.
Awesome episode! Loved Derek's collection...he's a very knowledgeable curator of history.
THAT grill would look good on the BUGATTI HAULER, It's got stylish looks too.
Thank you so much Chad for sharing this with us. I had my grandchildren watching with me. 😊😊

Cool little car, I like how the trunk opens down from the top. I am sure you'll turn it into comething really awesome one day.

Sick little Austin A40 Devon, my dad has one he built and has owned since 1974. That would make a sick little gasser!!!!
Everyone should take a SHOT everytime he says yep haha
Jolene, new mikes sound good. Chad, you and I are about the same age, I wish I had your energy. Keep up the good job, Hiltz clan and friends.
Looks like an Austin A40 or perhaps the larger version A70. We had an A70 when i was a boy.😊definitely an Austin A40.
What a great guy, neat collection of stuff. He needs a u tube channel so others can see his collection. Thanks for sharing. Be well.
Hello all! Cool little car, with a lot of possibilities. Was a Ineresting tour of Derrick's place. He has a lot of knowledge, talent and intrest to history.
A 40's are cool. Will make a great restoration project. 😊

I want the Austin. Please! The 401 keeps getting closer. Love it!
It's the for me is
2023 you are
The best at
Carse😀😀🙂🤜🤛👍👍
I would make it the next project, so that he gets to see what it becomes, and can enjoy iy.
Make it a 2door extended cab truck with that rear window. You did a good job on that last pickup conversation.
We really enjoy the program. Love the way your mind works. Dave and Diane.. Michigan
@Chad and @Jolene yes on this being the next project
SUV, extend rear roof, add third row seating.... on s-10 chassis, family car with modern everything. Escalade, Enclave, expedition???
I agree that is cooler that dang.. I'm all about a gasser crown vic Ford ranger or s10 chassis straight axle move the engine farther back almost under the windshield those back wheels he got for the plymouth poking out the sides maybe set in the back seat
Your trailer is working out well for you!!👍👍
Derrick is very proud of his collection.
It is very cool and I love the car it is very funny too 🎉😂😊 I love 🚗 carse so much 💕
Excellent deal I'd say 👍
The man has a wonderful collection of old things, even the vehicles are very interesting ☑
Wow..nice car..Chat can make a real beauty out of it with his creative brain.
hey Bad, lookin' for a project 3/4 complete? its a '58 tbird, you may remember it?
Derrick what an interesting man, I could spend a good day reviewing his collection for sure. Thanks and take care!
Nice to hear 🏴 Wales being recognised on here 😊
It needs a big breather on the hood
And some side pipes 😮
Chopped
Just wipe it down and put a clear coat
Done!
You could put some brackets under the back of that trailer to hold those ramps and we will need to put them in the back your Tahoe
Love the free car it's cool I can't wait to get started on it. i love see what you do, helps keep me thinking about what to do next on my cars
My dad had one of these back in the 60's when I was a nipper, I was fascinated by the trafficators. It was problematic starting on cold mornings and the crank handle had to be used.
Great video Chad and Jolene Kool Car would definitely be a good 60’s style Gasser Derec is a great gentleman and has a great collection of stuff
That little beauty would look great with the body simply repaired and then paint it in a bright red.
"OF WHAT?? CAN-NA-DA?" lol .... That was funny @51:58
The old Oliver tractor is cool.
How is Chad's son doing since his wreck?
I see a 60’s dragster in that little Austin. Maybe an LS automatic with big tires out back and skinny ones in front. Candy apple red and fender well headers.
Chad, I just heard you say “it’ll make a cool gasser”. I guess we’re on the same page!
So since you’re selling cars for what you paid for them and materials. This should be one heck of a deal for someone. 😆
thank you for taking us with you on this adventure Bad Brad
When I was a kid my Dad had a 1949 Austin A40. Gearshift 4 on floor.
I've never seen somebody load a car on a trailer so quick . Kind of like he was getting away with something LOL it'll make a good project
make a good cartoon weird wheels. you could section a massive rake so the motors out the bonnet chop 10" run massive rears. bright colors
