NO entertainers did more for entertaining the troups during WWII than Kay Kyser and his orchestra. Not even Bob Hope worked as hard for the troups as this group did. Wonderful people all.
I was born in the late 90’s, but looking back at this era I see a lot more class in the culture, and just how people carry themselves. Maybe some things have changed for the better, but I think some for the worst. Music that is popular now venerates some of the worst aspects of humanity.
Wow, I like this piece, Ginny really nailed it. Sadly, the Columbia recording was well, kind of cornball with the introductions and all, as most Kyser records did...but, still a great number and arrangement. What a voice she had and Kay's band framed it, very nicely.
I have a crush on Ginny Simms. Not only is she beautiful but, has a beautiful soprano voice. I have collected all of Kay Kysers dvd's and just acquired this movie. I noticed that Ginnys songs seemed to show off her range more than the other movies. This song was cringe full due to the way that she kept transposing the word "tied". It seemed to go to octaves that didn't fit the melody. Perhaps because her character said that she didn't feel up to singing. Before you say anything, I'm a musician in guitar, piano, and violin, so I do understand what transposing means.
I have a decent musical ear (mostly operatic or near operatic), and I rather liked the drop. But I really endorse your assessment of her being beautiful and having a beautiful voice.
Ginny had a very understated and graceful way she did a song. Just a real touch of class.
