The most moving - and ultimately the most beautiful - song I know is Will Oldham’s cover of In My Mind. The vocals are horrible. But it makes the song. If Adele or someone sang it, it’d be just a song. Will’s vocals make it a cry of pain and a gut-wrenching self assessment. Point is, some beauty isn’t about beauty. And there’s a lot of music out there that moves you because it isn’t beautiful. These woman are like sirens and their imperfect voices melding together winding in and out of their incredible grooves, that’s what makes this band so stellar.
