another great video murray, one thing I have been wondering how exactly is it you manage to control the pitch so as to avoid taking off when not ready . not in this video but in another recent video you were doing ?

Simples (to quote Aleksandr Orlov)... For DIRECT control (while the pilot is in contact with the ground) of the wings Pitch simply think of the triangle (point down) formed by the A's the C's and the Chord of the wing. With the pilot at the bottom (point) and the flying wing (good airflow/airspeed) 'wants' to align with the airflow (WIND).... the angle of the wing relative to the LOCAL airflow (Wind Vector) governs (along with flow speed) the amount of 'lift' the wing generates. By INCREASING the amount of NEGATIVE Pitch (wing pointing more 'down' what the student rapidly gains understanding of is: Even in a twenty knot UP slope wind (vector) provided there is JUST (and no more) 'lift' to support the WEIGHT (not mass) of the wing.... it's easy (no braking etc required) to NOT take off until the pilot CHOOSES to leave the ground! "How?" Answer= by the pilot moving 'backwards' (down wind direction) OR 'forwards' (up/into wind direction) at the bottom of the previously mentioned 'triangle' the Pitch of the wing is DIRECTLY altered 😎 "Simples"

PS I can CHOOSE to walk down a 30° slope in a 20mph wind without ever being lifted off the ground DESPITE the fact my wing is NOT stalled!

thanks for the info, have you ever done a video demo of this because I've met some experienced pilots who can't do this

Ref 'walking down (under a fully flying wing) a 30° slope', to be clearly illustrated really requires filming from far enough to the side to show horizon/slope/wing pitch.... mostly when I'm out in 20kt winds no one else is with me (as it's not good for most pilots getting flights!) MH
