I hope you guys like the video! Again as I explain near the end, I can't really guarantee I'm going to be active so I'm just going to make a video when I feel like it. In the mean time I will be streaming speedruns of the game if you want to come check me out, im going to start streaming again after christmas - www.twitch.tv/clovissenpai Other than that, I wont put a video out on this channel unless its one that I consider 'good' for my standards, so dont expect too many videos - again I'll make them when I feel them, feel its right, and get far enough into them. I brainstormed other ideas for other videos but didnt get anywhere so I'll just try again some other time when I have the motivation for it! For now, enjoy this :)
Yo dude, this is (sort of) unrelated to the video, but I wanted to express my appreciation for your videos and support of the game. DotR was easily one of my favorite games growing up, and I still give it a go through at least once a year. The work you put in for the Redux Mod was fucking so cool, and I just wanted to say from one burnt-out content creator to another, shit was gnarly. My brother and I just talked about it over our family Christmas, and I am stoked to give it another go as soon as I can. Thank you for the mod and the insightful videos on the game. Hope you’re enjoying it again. Much love.
Glad to see another video, been subscribed for awhile. duelists of the roses along with the falsebound kingdom were some of my favorite memories of yugioh growing up. I always felt that duelists of the roses had a bit of untapped potential and playing the mod you created really added some new life into the game for me. I always thought this was kinda a niche game and I'm happy there is a community that plays it still. I'll have to check out your streams sometimes too.
I meant to write a comment sooner but life has been busy. I watched this video when it dropped on Christmas and I want to (try to) briefly summarize why this was an amazing Christmas gift to watch this. I am a long-time DOTR fan. I got the game on a whim shortly after it came out on PS2 along with the Prima game guide, and when I went through my first play-through, it was this starter deck. I put so many hours into it. I loved the format, it was so wildly different to standard YGO play and I didn't even play FM before this game so I went in blind completely. I played this game so much, I would lug all the PS2 stuff into my Mom's minivan on long road trips and there was a DVD player in the middle-seat area with composite input, and had moments where I had to scream at my Mom to not shut the car off when she stopped so I could save. I just mercilessly grinded this game so much. Without looking anything up, I came up with a CotH and Pumpking zombie deck with dragons and I grinded the game enough to have a deck with multiple meteor b dragon fusion's that I then made zombies and let Pumpking level them up until I could one-shot everything. I didn't even bother to understand the leader abilities at the time, I just wanted big dragons to appear on the screen. I was 12 years old when I did all that and some of my fondest video gaming memories are with this game. It was a wild trip to come across your channel, learn about Redux and watch your speedruns. That said, when I saw this video. It brought me back so many memories, and then your message at the end motivated me to give you a YT sub. You make incredible content and I've now combed through you YT channel pretty thoroughly. You got a fan in me and can't wait to see what content you make for the future. I've always wanted to see this format of YGO thrive but it's such a janky weird game, I don't know if it could be balanced in such a way that people could get endless competitive play out of it. Maybe that's something you've thought upon already. Regardless, great video, and great stuff. You have my support.
Love your content! You’re the reason why I recently got back into playing DotR. I just wanted to point out @16:12 Pegasus actually does play Change of Heart if your monsters are right next to each other. ONLY if your life points are crazy high and you have a monster over 4000 attack however. I was playing the game the other day and I was SHOCKED when he did that. Cause I’ve been playing this game since it came out and I always knew to never leave a monster close to your deck master. So when he activated COH I was /completely/ dumbfounded!! Just thought I would share in case you or anyone else wanted to try and see!
His back 😍 Yah I noticed that you took down a lot of the videos cause I was itching to watch your old videos and couldn’t find them I honestly hope you don’t take down videos they were golden for what they are, your like the only encyclopedia of this game so whatever you make you’ll be top 👍
I'm only really referring to videos where I upload me talking for 10+ minutes about complaints and stuff - I don't really like making those videos because I dont think people sign up to see them particularly and I dont want to alienate my audience
I'm in the same boat with Master Duel. In theory, I really like Yugioh but I just can't be bothered sometimes. DotR has some major nostalgia points for me. As far as other games with a Yugioh dressing, haven't beat Capsule Monster Colosseum and haven't tried Falsebound Kingdom. Not sure what others there are.
Yo, I wasn't expecting this to be the video topic. But, hey, I'm the 69th like and it's a Clovis video, so of course I'm gonna watch! Merry Christmas Clovis :]
After you created the Redux mod how do you feel about the base game? I mean you still have interest in play the normal game after you have made your own version of it?
I actually have Redux and Vanilla on my phone, and I appreciate being able to go back to vanilla because it is just extra content and breaks up the redux. Even if vanilla duels mostly suck, thats still 42 duels instead of 21. In an ideal world, a full version of the game would be including vanilla duels, redux, maybe another 3 rings of duels with different purposes. One of the rings would be a bunch of weaker duelists you could just beat and get more resources from. A problem with redux is it is hard to get all the cards because the decks you face are more stringent and have more conclusive deck lists rather than just a hodge podge of random garbage. Redux results in better duels but its not as friendly to obtain cards from opponents, whereas vanilla has the problem where you can go and collect a lot more cards a lot easier (apart from stupid things like not even being able to get cards like Armored Starfish or Sangan in the slots) but you have to duel opponents that are just so bad its not really engaging nor do you need to really come up with any meaningful strategy to beating them. I like to think that in Redux the player has to achieve two different goals - one is beating a duelist at least once, the other goal is having a deck that is good at beating a certain duelist(s) reliably so that they can farm them. Vanilla, you just stomp certain duelists even with just a starter deck and hope they draw and play the card you want from them.
i deleted it a long time ago. i am preparing to roll another one out for twitch purposes (subscriber emote integration) but im honestly not big on having a public discord
Hey man I never knew people still played this. I just got an emulation of it so you know if there's a way to play online I used to live this game growing up and coming into it again is great
If you don't like Master Duel, maybe you can try EDOPro (the former YGOPro I think). It's more of a simulator of a ygo game rather than a "game" itself, but at lest you have all card, and create/download decks, save replays, etc..I think this could lead to some video ideias maybe.
I actually started a playthrough on Kryuel a few days ago (Not inspired by this, just a coincidence) and I found the most success by dueling Tea, getting mystical elf, and completely dumping the deck entirely.
Great vid! You've gotten me back into DotR and I've been loving the Redux mod! Tearing through it with a Thunder deck right now. What was the final decklist you ended up with on this Fiend deck? I think I understand the major strategy of centering around Summoned Skull but I presume it's something like... 3x Toon Summoned Skull 3x Summoned Skull 3x Job Change Mirror 3x Fiend of 1600+ atk 3x Castle of Dark Illusions 3x Yami 3x Horn of the Unicorn 3x Malevolent Nuzzler 3x Dark Castle 3x Magic Neutralizing Field/Cursebreaker 3x Shadow Spell 3x Spellbinding Circle 3x Tears of the Mermaid And then just edit the strength of cards for deck cost?
The reality of the final deck list was that it didnt really matter what was in it as long as I had copies of TSS, Summoned Skull, Job-Change, Man-Eating Treasure Chest, Bistro Butcher, a bunch of equips and some traps. Ratio of of a deck should be approx 1/2 monsters, 1/6 equips, 1/3 whatever else you'd like (including monsters for support/fusion) to be depending on what else you like and depending on if your deck cost is already high or not. Because monsters and equips are so important, I do this as the first thing. Monster selection depends on the monster type and differs from type to type - and that also might determine your ratio of monsters (eg, more fusion synergy, you probably want closer to 25 monsters). For listing stuff like the Traps, theres no reason to not just use the best trap cards you have over other traps, unless you need to lower your deck cost. The ratio of cards only really matters because you are always opening 5 cards and so if your deck was 80% monsters and only 20% equips, you'd draw one equip for every 4 monsters which isn't really enough. On the contrary, if your deck was 20% monsters and 80% equips, you would risk drawing into hands full of equips and no monsters to put them on. Ratio in a deck is more important than the specific amount of cards - generally you can just have 3 copies of whatever 13 cards you want to see in your hand during the first few turns of a match, then put in some other single card just to make the deck 40.
@@JayGamesNL I've been playing longer than you and it's basically the same game. Master Duel just has an older banlist and doesn't have Tear or Spright.
I could theoretically do an episode for each one but its just a lot of effort and the end result is just bulldozing everything, so I'm very unlikely to do more like this exact format. I can however talk about other starter decks for their own reason, so, we'll see
Yea master duel format when you started playing wasn't fun esp with floo around they killed barrier statue But then runick came and now we have do duel another stun heavy deck.....

The AI is for 7 year olds but the deck building is what makes it fun.
I would LOVE an updated version of this game, this is one of my favorite 3 games of all time.
