Imagine you're an average UK worker, you get up, travel to work, slog for 8 hours, travel home, and pay your own travel expenses. Well the average UK salary is £34,963 per annum so you would need to keep getting up each morning for anything between 5 to 12 YEARS in order to earn what one of these players gets in a WEEK?? Think about that the next time you're struggling to get up and out to work, you're going to have to do this maybe 3,000 times to earn what they earn in a week? Not only that but from your take home pay you're buying match tickets, overpriced shirts, cable etc. to subsidize their insane salaries. And to cap it all off most of these players have no affiliation with your club and are only there because they're being paid obscene amounts of money to play there, and if they get a more obscene offer they'll probably be off to kiss another badge.

True. I will say that TV revenues for U.S. Sports are pretty high and can support the salaries under a salary cap but also, the salaries are usually performance based on some metrics. The PL list has some deserved top earners but some seriously poor ones mixed in.

I think this illustrates a couple of things: Spurs want to be a top 4 team but pay mid-table wages.
