I’ve watched a lot of loc videos and by far I like yours because you take your time section by section and one loc at a time with close ups. I’m getting something from various videos but I loved watching yours . I know this is 4 months ago so hopefully you will reply. Did you wash your hair prior to your 1.5 month re-twist? It look so thick so I’m wondering if that contributed to the thickness of the new growth? I love your hair. A must save video

I did wash my hair prior to that re-twists. Having clean hair helps greatly because for me, it frees the scalp from a lot of build up that could be clogging the pores

I hadn't realized I've been loc'd for almost 4 months now. I did have to fix them like 3 times due to weird sizing but they're budding and frizzing so much 😭 I lowkey hate the frizz
Yea frizz is soo prevelant within the first few months. Hang in there!
I'm starting my loc journey tomorrow with two strand twists, and anytime I twist my hair the twist never stays in. Any tips you can provide, especially on how to make sure it doesn't unravel? P.S I love your locs, they're so beautiful 🥰❤️
Congrats on starting with your loc journey!
If you absolutely wanna start with twists you can even if they keep falling out keep putting the twists back in. I would try using less product actually because it can make the hair less slippery so they won’t slide out as easily.
However, when you’re locing your hair, you’re training your hair to stay in that form. So your hair probably isn’t used to the twists so just keep twisting back up and eventually your hair will get the memo lol

I've had mine for nearly 3 months in comb coils, 108 of them with a hightop, I always considered combing them out but this video inspired me not to 😮

You can twist it back up it may not loc at the same rate but it will learn to stay eventually

Hello. And I would wash my hair in sections. So I wouldn’t have it out loose. I would put it in 4 sections and band it with those black goodie hair ties. I believe I did that for the first two months. After that, my hair started to loc up and no longer needed to wash it in sections
I noticed a major shrinkage in mine and it’s only been one month I think I’m in budding stage

I want to start my own ourney but I'm hesitant because everyone says it won't look good because my hair is on the thinner side.
There’s plenty of people with thinner hair strands and/or less dense hair and from my observation, they usually make their locs a lot smaller so they’ll have at least 200 locs in their head that way your hair will be more spread out into more sections and create the illusion that you have more hair.
I think anyone looks good with locs! Its all up to what you wanna do at the end and how you wanna rock them

Honestly I couldn’t tell you when you should because I don’t know you hair like you do so I can’t tell you for sure. But if you’re 2 or 3 months in with starter locs, I will recommend washing once a month, after that I recommend more frequently maybe every 3 weeks or 2 weeks whatever feels best to you

I do not, but I can make one.
When you get two strand do you just leave them to lock up or can you take them out and let each strand loc individually?
I leave the two strand twists in to loc on their own

Thank you! And I usually use a mixture of Jamaican Black Castor Oil, Olive Oil, peppermint, and tea tree oil
I’m confused I’m trying to let my hair loc in two strand twist but when you retwist it you don’t untwist n twist them back right? u just twist the roots n let the rest be ?
When you do a re-twist for maintenance, you would simply twist up the roots of the hair and let the hair lov

Throughout the first 3 months, I washed my hair once per month. At the fourth month mark, that’s when I started consistently washing my hair every two weeks. My locs are now 14 months and I still consistently wash the every 2 weeks
wait...so you started with 2 strands and never took em out. instead you re-twisted the new growth while keeping the 2 strands intact? eventually the 2 strands turned into a single loc?

Do u interlock or jus palm roll re twist?
I have never interlocked. I usually palm roll.
Both my sons 9 and 19 want locs, so here iam watching video's and investigating, cus ain't no wayyyy imma pay somebody 500 to do them, I'll get the combs, picks, gel w.e necessary and do them myself need be🤷🏽♀️

For the retwist do I have to redo my 2 strand twist?
Only if your twists are unraveling, you will want to re-two-strand-twist your locs so you can train the hair to loc...if that's what you mean. I hope I answered the question.
Did you get any retwists?
Throughout the first 5 months I had my locs, I retwisted them 4 times and I did them myself. After the month of May, I stopped re-twisting and decided to semi-freeform my locs which means no re-twist but just separating my roots everytime I wash so they don't marry at the root
What can I do to prevent unraveling I’m experiencing it
Less manipulation or touching your hair (if any at all) and unraveling is natural during the beginning stages, keep twisting/coiling it back until the hair is trained to stay in place

I used a mixture of water & aloe vera gel to moisturize and oils to seal in the moisture
