    I have always dreamt of lending a hand in scientific research. It might not be glamorous but it sure is important.

    I didn't get to see the whales, but I spent two weeks in the Azores in 2019 and it was one of the most beautiful and otherworldly places I have ever visited. The lush scenic landscapes, the waterfalls, the hot springs was incredible.

    Thank you for the introduction to the Azores, Alice. I admit I’ve never heard of them. What a beautiful area.
    I think whales are adorable. Also, imagine if whales grew feet and infested dry land. Scratching themselves against buildings, blocking traffic, knocking everything over. What a pain.

    I did not expect that you are a whale scientist. And your video is as good as the National Geographic film. You are such an amazing fairy.

    Did you find Captain Ahab? Always neat to see living creatures of that size in the wild. Seeing blue whale in person would be wonderful. On a boat in choppy water...better you than me. Looking forward to seeing more of the islands.

    Another awesome video!
    I’ve visited the Azores years ago but your video has inspired me to go back.
    I’ll try to go this spring. It’s a little busy right now as I’m heading to Zion to climb Angels Landing and then heading to Belize to dive The Blue Hole and swim with whale sharks. If I don’t get there this spring I’m definitely going next spring. Thanks for the reminder of the Azores beauty.
    I checked out your other Azores videos. I’m definitely climbing Montanha do Pico too. What beautiful views from the summit.
    Yes! I’m going back! A dive, a climb and some whale watching.

      @@AliceFordAdventures oh yea, I can’t wait. I just got back from the Angels Landing trip the other day. What a great little day hike. Epic views all the way! I still gotta dial in a few logistics on the Belize trip. I need to be there during the full moon to catch the whale sharks which is around the 7th. Yea yea!

    Hi Alice. I remember as a kid watching the old fisherman killing the whale. And seeing all the blood in the harbor. Love your videos. Thank you.❤️

      Yes we have made a lot of headway in protecting whales in the last half century. Sadly Right Whales are still heavily threatened - lobster pots are to blame

    I saw your video about arriving in the Azores only 2 'days before I (unfortunately) had to go home from very same islands and wonderful whales ..
    Perfect opportunity and, 100% understandable you took this chance..
    I only managed Sao Miguel this time but, will be back for the rest...
    These islands, the nature, the people and, all these stunning animals, simply call one back...
    Thanks so much for sharing...and, happy Easter!!

    I did not know much about the Azores. Thanks for sharing. The opening shot above the ridge was spectacular. This feels the kind of place I would go to, for what it stands environmentally and for the hiking opportunities. I am not a water person per se, I would skip the whale watching part altogether but learned from your video.

    Considering that the Azores were the hot spot for whale hunting in the Atlantic that whale spotting count aint nothing why would they bother to brag on that glad their researching but that seems completely self promoting by them !

    • @AliceFordAdventures
      @AliceFordAdventures  Рік тому

      Hunting whales has been illegal in the Azores for some decades now, which is why they have turned to research and tourism to protect them instead. It has given jobs back to people that lost them when these industries closed it’s not a perfect system but it is helping this species rebound

      @@AliceFordAdventures yes and I'm vary happy about that but to brag how many sightings of whales they have had like shooting whales started with them and they have the most and their the best ?! Sporting whales is why we are in the condition with hardly no whales as it is if they need to brag in order to feel good about what they are doing or in order to get funding then brag about the impact their research has had on whale survival ! Not on we have the most spottings ?! Because they don't the people with the most spottings are the people that slaughtered the whales they have them beat by ten thousand leagues !!!! This isn't condemnation of you not even of them it's a be better smarter the whales need us to be better for them because anyone that would find that statistic of interest isn't smart enough to be doing the whales any good !

  • @db.mc2
    @db.mc2 Рік тому
