I wish TV programs were still around that documented events with this awesome level of recreations. This was the golden age of television before social media took over.
I saw the entire film titled the same around 20 years ago when I was jumping myself. I’d live to get my hands on a copy there are some truly amazing rescues.
I remember being captivated by this film back in the 80s, on tape of course. I watched it countless times (along with the other stories in the film from UK, France and US). I knew the film almost word for word and it's incredible that I still do! I went on to skydive but only briefly before I scared myself silly going from static line to freefall. So good to see this again - thanks for uploading.
Actually this isn't true anymore. They have a device called an AAD which will activate your reserve chute at a specified altitude if you haven't pulled your main. Unfortunately Debbie isn't the only person to have been in this scenario. Most people weren't this lucky tho!
God bless you man. After 15 years of skydiving i have never seen that happen. I have heard stories about stuff like that happening but never saw anyone hit so hard they drew blood (but most of us where full face helmets now days). Thank God you where there for her. Some people should stick to bowling.
He tells this story as if it was 20 minute free fall. Incredible how fast all of this actually happened and how he followed an instinct to watch over her
Ur a legend bro. Best video I seen in ages. I'll subscribe!. This guy deserves a medal. He 100% saved her life. I guess this is y they make rigs tht open automatically at a certain height. Maybe they didnt have these back then
Man thank God for this Gentleman & his level of experience & know how. At first I thought it was just a Reenactment , where sky diver went to do it for the camera but right after she got hit I immediately knew that this was the live footage of the event. Pretty crazy
Debbie Williams was my second grade teacher at Admiral Chester W Nimitz Elementary School, originally I didn't believe her when she told the class this story.
Why didn't you believe her? Because you're on of those people who fails to realise that, despite the world being full of crazy incidents like this, you irrationally automatically disbelieve it if it happens to someone you know. I can't stand people like you.
Great job Greg, I used to skydive with you at Coolidge parachute center from 81 to 86 in fact pin be on my very first graduation off student status... I was not there the day this happened but it was all the talk for the next 2 or 3 months. I remember you saying you thought maybe you would get an invitation to her wedding you had no idea of such accolades that we're coming your way. I hope you're doing well these days I quit skydiving in 86 when I got married because wives tend to frown on that but we had several jumps together I doubt you remember me but I definitely remember you and remember the story. blue skies to you my brother....Tony Bafaloukos 162 jumps mostly at Coolidge
This looked like the actual event, not a recreation. Amazing
You are kidding, right? This was a horrible recreation from the 80's
The guy was wearing at&t tshirt, which made me more confused
😂
Travis k for the 80’s this is really realistic
To be fair it is more realistic than an Apollo landing
@@travisk5589 looked pretty real to me. They jumped with mounted cameras. No reason this wasn't the real deal. I jump and it looked pretty real to me.
You guys did a great job of recreating the event. Especially the mid-air.
Skydiver 1 - "Wait, you want to film her flying straight into my ribs at full speed?"
looked very real!!
They did! That was outstanding!!!
No this is the real video
I thought this is real video.
This guy is the epitome of situational awareness. Well done!
The acting was so good I thought I was watching the actual accident up until the end when I realized it was recreated lol
me too lol
i was like "why is that guy recording, i wouldve been outta that bih"
😂
I realized it was a recreation when that bad actor said “call for a doctor”
Me too 😂
Thank you for being one of those who dare to get involved, despite the danger to yourself. We are lucky to have folks like you among us.
Excellent. People like this, who keep their head up and take care of others are obviously invaluable in these situations. Well done!
Best re-creation I've ever seen!!! That was outstanding!!!
That was incredible.. You were her Angel in the sky that day for sure!!
@Quandleberg Humpadick well gosh
I wish TV programs were still around that documented events with this awesome level of recreations. This was the golden age of television before social media took over.
Good job. The world needs people like you...
For a recreation, this looks like the real deal.
@Quandleberg Humpadick duh!
We all love a hero, you risked dying to save someone else, that's heroism. I hope she thank you more than once.

Now at this age how old are you sir
@@Gentleman05 Just 41 - that's all... :-)
wow
how old are you sir
Sad thing you quit skydiving :-(
Man of men putting honor and care before self! God Bless this Hero!
"A parachute works only if you open it up."
I am one step closer to knowing how to skydive.
REALLY???? OMG! So, let me get this clear, if you don't open the parachute... it WONT WORK? That's awful! [No Words]...

Now adays parachutes are automatic
U don't open it,it will automatically open at a certain height

God Bless that man, that did all the helping. Makes you feel good, people like that exist.
He was a real life hero and did the right thing as an expert to try his best to save a life. Well done.

you are a hero- God Bless you for having steel courage to help another human!!
Spent my career as a firefighter and often we were called “heroes”. No. THIS man is a true hero !

You are a Hero, good job.
Crockett I just said that he a true hero man
You are a MAN in every positive sense of the word!
He's a real human being, a woman could have been there with a similar soul.
Well the recreation was pretty amazing to watch

Dang, got tears in my eyes. The human spirit, wow!
You saved this women’s life!!!!
He tells this story as if it was 20 minute free fall. Incredible how fast all of this actually happened and how he followed an instinct to watch over her
Bravo.!!
You get only only few seconds like 30 or less than 30 sec in reality. Not 5 minutes like movies.
😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 I know where you have came from
In my childhood days I read about this incident... After a long years UA-cam showed me the real incident!
ua-cam.com/video/55QUQHm2B5A/v-deo.html here is a very similar incident but there is video also this one ua-cam.com/video/zQcYFgtyRjc/v-deo.html
This is not real, it's recreation. 🤣
We love UA-cam.
What on earth? This whole thing was remarkably well done for the time, except that one "call a doctor". How did that even make it in?
I agree. The easiest part was the one that looked fake. LOL
Ur a legend bro. Best video I seen in ages. I'll subscribe!. This guy deserves a medal. He 100% saved her life. I guess this is y they make rigs tht open automatically at a certain height. Maybe they didnt have these back then
Incredible recreation of the accident.
My thoughts exactly. It was pretty risky just to recreate that rescue.
miscalculation noticed and a no fear adjustment, thank this unusual man of courage that saves life
Awesome rescue. Great job Greg.
A big salute to you sir as you saved his life and show the real quality of a skydiver , 👍
This is the best editing of a narration done... Super
Would you expect any less from Chuck Norris?

Loved this video. This guy was a true hero. Pulling his chute last says it all. 🙌
