Finally, FINALLY Japanese devs on Game Maker's Notebook! That's the only thing that was missing from the podcast, Japanese dev perspective. Hopefully more soon!
I'm glad they don't change their vision for games to appeal to the western market, the unfiltered experience is what we what. Thanks for Nier, such great games.
I had this video bookmarekd to watch it after finishing Nier Replicant which I did a couple weeks ago, really nice talk! I was one of those that got into NieR through Automata, started it witouth knowing much about it and I gotta say it was one of those 'unique'/wow experiences that makes you really value what gaming can offer. My respects for Yoko, Keiichi, Yosuke and all involved staff, amazing work. And as some remarked on the comments, i'm glad the podcast is branching letting us hear more from the japanese side.
Please YOKO...MAKE NIER 3. PLEASE...My life is shit, I have no one and I'm lonely, I need another Nier game....there's no change in my life, I'm exhausted from life...waiting for your new game..........yeah I miss you so much.......
I really wish more Japanese developers were invited to do talks on this channel. I have been looking high and low through the channels uploads, but this is the only video I could find with Japanese developers speaking.
Trio of some the finest devs in the video games industry, Nier is my favorite game ever so I’m really glad you got them on the show, it was a really good interview !
Omg i would die for another Nier game! Nier Automata is one of if not the favorite japanese rpg game i ever played! The story is a masterpiece and the music and the world is amazing and unique.
The way I understood it as far was the origins of Nier was that the entire premise and concept for Nier was borne out one one of the endings in Drakengard. I don’t want to go into more detail than that for spoiler sake, but I thought that was a hell of a origin story for Nier. That an optional ending for one great game gave rise to another incredible IP. Anything that comes from the insane mind of Yoko Taro I am a hundred percent onboard with, and I can’t wait what comes out of it next!
Nier Replicant and Automata are two of my favourite games, but boy do I wish that Yoko Taro had come to the realization of easier gameplay sooner because I've been stuck on The Final Song in Drakengard 3 for over a week now haha
Great interview. Was awesome to see the perspective of some old heads in the Japanese industry. As for NieR, FFS Mr. Yoko, just do it already. I'm sure the idea of making another game that sells 7 million is impossible to you. Just make sure the main character has a nice butt and everything else will fall into place.
whatever the next biiig yoko taro game is i'm ready for it. sounds like it won't be for a while though. i'm happy waiting a few years but part of me hopes he is just teasing and something will be announced soon.
As genius as Keiichi Okabe is, he wasn't a pioneer of the music with changing layers, Rare was doing this in all their 3d platformers, starting with Banjo Kazooie 1998.
@@ravenhellkite8124 He didn't, he said the opposite. Shuhei Yoshida: So you were one of the pioneers of that technique. Keiichi Okabe: I suppose i was. Well, he wasn't. People in the 90s like Rare were.
@@damazywlodarczyk Yeah but if you watched more you'd see them mention other games that did it before. What they meant was not a lot of games did it at the time and they kinda pushed it forward.
@man doodoo man oops Shuhei Yoshida: So you were one of the pioneers of that technique. Keiichi Okabe: I suppose i was. Well, he wasn't. People in the 90s like Rare were.
@@ravenhellkite8124 They didn't push it forward, rare was doing it more advanced than Nier Automata. Changing tunes on the fly. Also why he would agree that he was a pioneer? He wasn't.
Taro should really become a comedian. He's so spontaneously funny
wow taro has discipline, holding that pose unmoving through the entire interview
impressiv, really

I NEED another NieR Game, NieR/Drakengard is my favorite game franchise, it would be amazing a game that shows the continuation of NieR:Automata
I don't know how you pulled off an interview without Yoko Taro trolling the entire thing, but this was excellently pulled off.
This was absolutely amazing. Wow.
And I think a more direct confirmation that a sequel to Automata is heavily anticipated by Square Enix.
Just played Nier Replicant! Such a beautiful game.
confirmed there is going to be another nier thank jesus
I'm glad they don't change their vision for games to appeal to the western market, the unfiltered experience is what we what. Thanks for Nier, such great games.
great episode, Glad the podcast has branched out from mostly western developers

Thank you for the English subtitles!
I wish they had talked a bit more about the Drakengard games and Reincarnation but this was still a really cool podcast! Appreciate the subs.
extremely excellent English sub!! and thank you oh sososo very much for this great interview!

If guys are still thinking of new ideas for future projects, maybe we could get a remaster/remake of Drakengard 3... At least - I hope for it!
Awesome questions from Yoshida! enjoyed every second of this
I LOVE NIER SO MUCH
swooning. fantastic interview!!! thank you so much!!

46:00 Yoko must be very close to Okabe to roast him like that lmao
He's like the senpai who want to support his juniors to succeed

Time to give my whole bank account to Yoko-san and Okabe-San to know more about the Nier role because I am starving.
Same, I would gladly give my money to Yoko Taro, the guy is a mad genius, holy shit.
You mean _Time to break down my mentality again_

この三人に対してMCするのは、大変ですね
ですね😅特にヨコオさんの癖のある発言をまとめるのが大変そうですね(^◇^;)私は一番好きですが
I am grabbing myself a snack because I know I’m about to get an existential crisis, and existential crises give me the munchies.

bring nier replicant to switch pls
yoko taro is the Japanese jerma
Please, add the switch costumes to the other versions.
I really want to wear the fox mask.
Get the switch version then lol
