I saw this clip today. I'm so glad they chose Urban to reboot my beloved Bones McCoy. I've been in love with this character since the original Star Trek and seeing him so magnificently portrayed by Urban leaves me in awe. Dee Kelly would be proud that his character is now in excellent and talented hands.

Amen. This was high praise to Mr Urban's acting abilities and a beautiful tribute to DeForest Kelly. It made me weep. Karl was splendid.

i love this. after years and years i still don’t know why reboot mccoy means so much to me but he does. so this video really warmed my heart, thank you so much ♥️
Yeah reboot mccoy is probably the best re-cast in the whole reboot. or vice versa, maybe karl urban just understood the character so remarkably well he was able to so seamlessly translate it into the cinematic wonders & necessities of today better and more subtly than any other reboot actor.... actually really sad to se him only in those gritty roles these days, cos he's such a fine nuanced actor if he's given the room for it
RIP, DeForest, James, Leonard, Nichelle, and other ST actors who have passed on too.

I got to meet De and Jimmy at a first big convention party in Atlanta. He and I talked about the city's change and out dogs. I asked him about his Schnoodle Cheers and told him about my family's dog, a Black Russian Terrier/Poodle mix and he said Cheers was a Poodle/Terrier mix. He laughed when I told him Smokey used to get up on top of our station wagon and watch from there and then "talk" (rau, rau) to passers going by our car and wag his feathery tail. He was friendly, but would guard that car if anyone touched it. They both met tragic end, one by a gun (Smokey) and the other by a sprinkler(Cheers).
I believe karl urban is going to graduate to fine nuanced acting roles in the upper stratosphere because he got such a wide range of acting ability..he been acting for over 30 years..the man is a chameleon..and he can avoid typecasting..he seems to keep working very hard and eventually..some fine director is going to notice his worth and i hope..put him in a film that showcase all his abilities as an actor..and i would to also see him as a film director.
Watching TOS growing up, Bones was always my favourite (Scotty & Uhura were my second-faves), and in the reboots/Kelvin, Bones is still my favourite (Kirk, Sulu, & Pike being my next faves), so I absolutely love this! Thank you for making a Bones-vid!!!!
