Inflation is still above target. However, since a soft landing is the Fed's target, they can no longer raise rates or hold at the current rate without increasing the risk for recession. Also raising interest rates take time to fully affect an economy and lower inflation rates, so the effects of the latest rate cut can still be unfolding
