We’re currently in the DEHH golden era
12 years in and they're still dropping bangers
in terms of content and how diverse it is, yes, all these brackets, odd fridays, etc keep the channel fresh
but i think they also became a lil bit more “lazy” with their reviews. Thats where i think theyre lacking currently. Years ago, their reviews were entertaining and fun all the way through and it didnt matter if that was their only content cause it was enjoyable
So i agree they got better with other type of content but their reviews became worse imo
@@alejandromarmolejo13they became more professional in reviews even in their criticisms. Just the nature of doing reviews for a while

Something about New York being the final 2 albums in the bracket feels right in my soul. Tho the south took the crown and ran for a long time I must admit, this signifies what New York did in its golden era & it didn’t disappoint all these years later 🗽

The right two albums were in the final. And I would have gone 36 as well. Madvillainy impacted Hip Hop. 36 Chambers impacted the world!
My top two would be Madvillainy vs Below the Heavens. Both perfect albums.
Would have been a glitch in the matrix if Enter the Wu-Tang didn't come out on top in the end!

It's funny with Group albums I often like their 2nd albums better (Ex: "The Infamous", "Follow The Leader", "The Low End Theory", "Step into the Arena", "Black Sunday", "The Score", "Do you want more?", "ATLiens", and "RTJ 2".)

Love this video concept, when all those march madness brackets first happened in hip hop a few years ago I remember being disappointed they didn’t seem to come back the following years. So it’s cool to see them make a return, tho I definitely have an issue with some of the matchups bc neither Madvillainy or Mystic Stylez deserves to go in the first round, those are literally like 2 of the top 5 most influential albums on modern Hip Hop. Joey, Earl, Tyler, STEEZ, Roc Marci, pretty much anyone in that vein cites DOOM as their biggest inspiration. But Three 6 pretty much completely birthed the 2010s darker SoundCloud era along with Bone Thugs and DJ Screw. They’re easily the biggest inspiration for guys like Lil Ugly Mane, Suicideboys and Denzel Curry.
How Rod look like Ghostface and pick 8ball over 36 chambers?
I really like who ended up being in the finals. 36 should be an obvious choice, but it's hard to argue the other albums are better than Madvilliany.

Damn Enta Da Stage is def a classic but Funcrusher like top tier for me, and 3rd eye vision verse cold vein?? What y’all doin here this is way too hard bro 😭 I love that hiero debut so much but cold vein is just too perfect, tbh I’m probably the only hiero fan who’s listened to Full Circle more then the debut 💀💀

Its their best content and the most algorithm friendly content. In time it will elevate everyone as a whole, not just myke who stands out the most. Just my opinion.

The thing about Madvillainy is heads already knew what Doom and Madlib sounded like years prior. The Wu Tang sound came outta nowhere.
That is what I was saying. A few of these even though are considered “debuts” as groups were around way before as solo artists. I consider debuts as “New on the scene, never heard before” groups. EL-P x Killer Mike (RTJ). Madlib x MF DOOM (Madvillainy), Hiero (Souls of Mischief, DEL, Casual, Pep), and Exile (Emanon) all had music prior.
Real talk, I kept hearing ya'll show love to that Blu & Exile album so I had to see for myself and DAMN, I'm not even half way through and this shit is amazing
This is awesome, bless! Enta Da Stage is such an underrated album; should get more credit for being one of the first with that dark and gritty NYC boom-bap style, even predating 36 Chambers
Yeah I often say that if it wasn't for 36 Chambers, Boot Camp would've defined the gritty east coast sound.
Not only one of the best hip-hop albums, but also one of the most important! As you said, the gritty production and new style flow were founded here.
Lots of great remixes came from it too!
Anyone curious please check remixes of I Got Cha Opin' and Buck Em Down.
It only came out a month before.
And the fact that this was a compilation album/group project to introduce them and then a lot of the 1st solo releases makes this even more monumental.

36 Chambers is still the only album I can remember being in The Source magazine's heavy rotation list for like 2 1/2 years straight. Album came out during my freshman year of high school and I was still playing it regularly freshman year of college. You can't really overstate its impact.

Although I agree with the winner of course, The Wu kinda has an unfair advantage here. With mostly duos and groups of 3 In the brackets, they really don’t stand a chance against that roster of artists putting out that kinda classic work.
