In a Poem Unlimited was one of my favorite albums early last year. Rosebud was great, Time a masterpiece and Incidental Boogie crazy. And those from the top off my head. Oh, Poem is beautiful too!!
Yeah, I think In A Poem Unlimited ended up being a bit overlooked. It got great reviews but I didn't hear it mentioned in any year-end wrap-ups. I maintain that it was my album of the year.
If I were ever to do this show, I would probably at least write down a reference list of artists or particular albums I want just to be on the lookout for them in the store.
Thank you all for introducing me to Juana Molina tonight! Pond was another good introduction, as they introduced me to MGMT. Always look forward to your videos. Always find the coolest stuff displayed in your videos!
Watch a lot of these and get annoyed when the artists are just going with standards everybody knows and making the video a "top ten most influential artists to me" list; always a lot more exciting when the artists are telling you about who they're into RIGHT NOW, which are often acts I don't know, and the MOST exciting when they hold something up and say "i have no idea what this is, but I've decided to try it out". That's *real* record shopping, and that's how you learn about the artists you end loving loving for the rest of your life. This is one of the better What's In My Bags? in a good bit
@@gringoloco4 c'mon it's not that bad. Also, I like the fashion style to it unironically (like wearing a swim googles on public is actually cool to see).
Whoa, I missed the part where Merrill said the artist name for Juana Molina's music and had to rewind like "WHO IS THIS" then I realized that somehow I already follow her online without ever having known she played music... awesome
Why do either of them care about *bargain* finds? Surely Amoeba *gives* them whatever they find as, you know, payment for lending their names and faces for a promotional video for the shop?
Behaving like you're on strong sleeping pills, shoes on the bed, weird socks, small tattoos, swimming goggles. All it's missing is a bespectacled bearded dude in a checkered shirt.
Is that not a good thing, though? There's nothing worse than when someone comes on and chooses the MOJO top ten best albums of all time. THAT'S what merits an eyeroll.
I respect and cant stand them for their music selections at the same time. Their whole straight from the "how to be a hipster" guide book personas on the other hand is beyond ridiculous. I kept watching this trainwreck from start to finish and I'm still not sure what pronoun I'm supposed to use when addressing ol goggles on the left. 😆😆
0:30 "shes is not only a talented musician, she is also a doula and a MOTHER" like that is significant at any level when your about to buy and album. Let's have an international day for everybody who is a MOTHER and something else! Oh wait, we already have!! Absolute hate for this people. In the mindtime, 93 % of death at work are men and noboy cares. How many of those are FATHERS? Nobody cares. I bet she difine herself as a feminist.
Love the care in the editing done to make each pick feel special. Thanks Amoebans!

Xavi R rage of plastics and velvet for sale are killer! So is pearly gates! Amazing album from beginning to end
How both of you don't mention M.A.H. is crazy! One of my favorite singles from last year, such an awesome combination of Disco, Pop, and Exotica.
People forgot about In a Poem Unlimited, it’s definitely in my top three favorite albums of all last year
Yeah, I think In A Poem Unlimited ended up being a bit overlooked. It got great reviews but I didn't hear it mentioned in any year-end wrap-ups. I maintain that it was my album of the year.
Two of the best contemporary artists! U.S. Girls In A Poem Unlimited was my 2018 album of the year!
She would have picked more albums but she would have been late for her swimming lesson.
Get Tom Waits on here.
got three of tune-yards records last week so seeing this was a fun episode! thanks amoeba for these they're great
Discoverd u.s. girls through the power trip episode of what's in my bag and now she's on the show herself
Y'all went and got two of the most forward-thinking people in modern music in one episode? We have to stan.
I had never heard of U.S. Girls before this past year, got turned onto In a Poem Unlimited by Fantano and have been hooked ever since.
Merrill picking Juana Molina totally made my day 😍
Okay, now this is epic!
Barış Manço legend
couldn't do this if i was ever to become infamous. Each time i visit a record shop i get amnesia of things i like
It truly is a curse that plagues many of us.

That's when you just wander and discover what you like.
Another ep full of awesome music to chase up. Thanks. Got onto that Gal Costa album after the Jason Mantzoukis ep. Great!
Jennifer Castle should absolutely be discovered by more and more people. Her songs are really something.
Yeah Meg! Showing love for our incredible brazilian master Gal Costa! 💚
I love both of them
How many copies of Gal Costa's 'India' does Amoeba have?
not enough
Im from Portugal and here.. its the most common thing ahah but Im telling this by the good side, India its a real masterpiece!
0:55 Barış Manço!!! Representing the best music ever made in Turkey
Jennifer Castle right out of the gate! nice call.
I think I started listeing to U.S. Girls after the Power Trip episode? Was cool to find some weirder stuff from a metal band. Good stuff!

Damn, every pick in here was solid. I've got a good night of research ahead of me!
What an incredible episode, two amazing musicians with completely different music tastes.
PS. Thanks for talking about Gal Costa

Awesome selections! Love seeing stuff I never heard! But forreal that NERD album was an underrated banger that the fans will revere forever!
Vamo Juana! Que alegría verla en vivo desde el año 2000 que la voy a ver.
Can't believe Meg Remy knows Gal Costa, that's so cool!
I realize that many artists picked Gal Costa “India”. You simply have to listen to know why. Im portuguese and I grew up listening to that
it just never ends
This person wearin swimming goggles
Charles Young 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 hipsters 🙄🙄
Yes. And that dude has the worst taste in music ever.

Meg Remy, i'm in love she's so pretty, awesome girl.
The last U.S. Girls album was awesome.
TWO LEGENDS
this is the second time i’ve seen the gal costa india record on here. I gotta grab that!
Grande Argentina!!! Grande Juana Molina
Two of the few ladies left on 4AD after Grimes works on her departure.

Can say I wasn't expecting De Dannan to be in this video.
Meg Remy loves Linda and Sonny, I want to paint that on a wall somewhere.
ohhhhhh shiiiiiiiiit (navy and creme is the best us girls song btw)
kinda wish she spoke on TTD a little more, great selection either way
Cool
De Dannan yeah!
Pharrell is one of the best producers/influencers ever. I don’t think most people realize how many hits and great songs he’s had a hand in.
DALE JUANAAAAA
Do u get to keep the records? Honestly.
Y'all need to get Daughters in here
Juana 💖
What's the name of the song played at the start?

What is Meg Remy's accent? Genuinely curious.
nvm looked it up. Canada. I can hear it now.
What’s the song at the beginning!
It's a Tune-Yards track called "Look At Your Hands" from their latest album "I Can Feel You Creep Into My Private Life."
I can't stand that I can't keep up w all of this

Does anybody know the track name of the intro?

It's a U.S. Girls track called "Poem" from her latest album "In A Poem Unlimited."
''Do you buy vinyl?''
Fred Armisen and Lykke Li supergroup
Let’s all get married
I would be great if you get Jeff Mangum
I get the feeling that he... would never
Kayleigh Saum never in a million years
Interesting picks, I just wish I could find Garbus less annoying. She's a 2010 social-justice FB post come to life.
Fred Armisen vibes. Love it all
cool picks, uhh i guess
Behaving like you're on strong sleeping pills, shoes on the bed, weird socks, small tattoos, swimming goggles. All it's missing is a bespectacled bearded dude in a checkered shirt.
don't matter, both make really good music.
1:41 wtf?
You know the room smells like BO and patchouli.
Eric P 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂
How did I know before I clicked this that I wouldn’t know any of their picks 🙄🙄
@Zetsubou are you really trying to imply that sonny sharrock is renowned by today's standards? He's great but that's deadass just false.
@Zetsubou ha ok fair enough. i don't listen to jazz a ton now but i think it took me a while to find Sonny. I see what you mean now though.
Jeff Panetta like Zet wrote, that’s the joy of music - there’s alot of good things to discover, always
