I learned to solo by mimicking Jay's guitar. While most of the punk-adjacent bands of the time reject the guitar solo entirely as a concept, Jay did the 70's guitar god thing. Start Coppin is his "Song Remains the Same" complete with 3 solos. I love this band more than could ever convey. Thank You! Please do more.
They're a fantastic band J Mascis (the guitarist/vocalist) made two albums where he plays every instrument and also did mixing and production as J Mascis + The Fog. They're great. As for this song it's pretty solid it was the big single off the album (Farm, released in 2009.) Dinosaur is famous for the solos which this song lacks. Check out The Lung, Out There or They Always Come for some cooler stuff by them. Also yes they are a power trio, minus some tours where they had a keyboard player. The song is about the rocky relationship between J Mascis and the bassist Lou Barlow. Farm was the second album after a 17 year period where Lou Barlow was out of the band, because they (during the 80's) despised each other. This song was basically an apology from J Mascis for being a dick when they were young.
I call you Deano, after Dean Martin. The Flintstones dinosaur is spelled "Dino", so it never even occurred to me! 😂 Good to see you reacting to some good ol' 80's- 90s alt rock, like the Pixes and DrJr. I loved this stuff as a kid. You should also check out the Dead Milkmen and Sonic Youth. Supercool.

If you like the energy and guitars on this song, you should check out Pieces by them off of the same album. It starts off that album very strong
