    Love this video. Points out the glaring flaws of the QHB2.0.
    The MCX price is painful but from a engineering aspect they nailed it.

    SIG just has a design advantage especially the Rattler. Brilliant design and look, its just a great firearm which can even be more compact than the badger. And you get a integrated barrel for it. As usual you get what you pay for with todays compact weapon systems.

    Great video! I was really excited about the Honey Badger and the video was eye opening. I'll probably still pick one up, but looks like it won't become my go to SHTF rifle. It's a shame but i guess they had to make some compromises to get the weight down. Anyway great vide thanks for making it very informative.

    The GQ Paladin is an excellent contender to these. Has the engineering of the SIG Rattler, but has the gucci aesthetics of the HB. Comes in at $2700 so middle of the road pricing between the three of these options. Takes down just like an AR.

  • @YourFavoriteLibertarian

    Thanks for the honest review. The sig now comes with a folding brace option which brings it to 5.1 lbs vs the hb at 4.5 lbs. So we are talking a little more than half a pound difference. For the added "sturdiness" of the sig I'll take the extra weight.
    Especially, since it will be closer to my body with the shorter extended length and the way shorter folded length. I've never owned either brand and this would be my first 300blk gun so this has helped a lot in my research.

    Thanks man. Funny watching the industry try to appease customers who MUST Not abandon the AR history of worth. A gun that is a -fiddle fart- to assemble because of the design manipulation to cram a 10 pound design into a 5 pound bucket. Vs a design that removes the buffer tube, and keeps the AR ergonomics.

    Watching this again and handling a MPX SBR at the local shop the other night I would almost say to either keep the brace (it is almost the same as the stock but actually more comfortable) and keep it a pistol. A pistol would be 50 state legal if they pass the 50 state CCW or if you are otherwise eligible for 50 state carry (not to mention all of the states where you can possess a pistol otherwise.) My opinion the second option if you go the SBR is to go with the new small sig adjustable folder that is currently on the vertus series.

    Everyone should keep in mind a few things. The honey badger is not a replacement for your ar15 or you 300 blk hunting rifle or your home defense rifle. It was specifically designed to replace the mp5 sd. That’s it. It isn’t meant for bashing skulls or laying down suppressive fire or for accuracy. It is meant for vbss and low profile ops. It is mission specific and frankly does a good job at its mission but not much more and q and Kevin are fine with that because they don’t deny it.

    • @ANRDesignLLC
      @ANRDesignLLC  6 років тому +9

      Did you just say this gun isn't designed for accuracy? Lol. You should probably clarify that it's not designed for precision shooting. But it's certainly a very accurate firearm. I'm just expressing that it is not a hard used gun. The mp5sd is a pretty hard use gun.

    • @calebfuller9591
      @calebfuller9591 6 років тому

      ANR Design LLC yeah my bad. Precision is definitely a better word. The mp5sd is hard use no doubt but you aren’t bashing skulls in with the stock like you were talking about. That stock seemed to have a good bit of wobble but it’s not like mp5 skeleton stocks are reinforced rebar.

    • @Laotzu.Goldbug
      @Laotzu.Goldbug 6 років тому +3

      Well, if the Honey Badger was designed to replace the MP5 SD, it's doing a terrible job. The MP5 was a tank, much easier to disassemble and maintain, and certainly didn't have magazine or feeding issues. Whatever the original Honey Badger was, the current production version is a civilian toy. Definitely a cool looking gun, and probably great for plinking or hunting, but not a hard use duty weapon

    • @4g63mark
      @4g63mark 5 років тому +1

      The funny thing about your explanation of the Honey Badger is that it wasn't selected as the replacement for the MP5SD. Q built it for that reason as you said, but it didn't make the cut.

  • @MICHIG00N

    A full length handguard over a suppressor also prevents barrel flex when mounting on barricades. It allows for a mounting point so you aren't getting the suppressor causing accuracy issues.

    • @DwightSproull

      That's why the MCX Tacops is awesome. 6.75" barrel with a 10" handguard, I believe.

    I’ve had baffle strike on an x95 using the 556ti-qd can not tightly mounted, FWIW. (Luckily I have a bunch of cans so I just sent that one in to Sig)

  • @K0gashuk0
    @K0gashuk0 6 років тому +6

    The problem with the full mags on the honey badger is because they drastically changed the physics of the weapon to fit the design. With the MCX they changed the design to meet the needs of the weapon system. IE you cant have the entire system rely on that one tiny little spring that gets jacked up when you put it back together.. That is one of the reasons the MCX has 2. That and they almost completely eliminate the evil piston carrier tilt. Remember the difference between subsonic and supersonic is drastic. It takes a pretty good gas system to get that right. You cant just lower the spring weight and continue to drop all the burnt powder in.

    • @ANRDesignLLC
      @ANRDesignLLC  6 років тому

      +K0gashuk0 great comment!

    • @Laotzu.Goldbug
      @Laotzu.Goldbug 6 років тому +1

      K0gashuk0 good point. And to be honest, from what I've seen with the one I have, the MCX doesn't have any carrier tilt at all. Unlike a short stroke AR, it's not really possible for the BCG to rotate inside the receiver. The whole piston system on the MCX is very well designed ( well, at least after the hiccups of the Gen 1 version)

    So with the new ATF proposed rule changes this would be a SBR, 6-12 months in NFA JAIL, pay $200 tax stamp, registration of you & this firearm and all the interstate regulations that go with it.
    These are rules not laws, don’t let an executive branch of government that is supposed to enforce current law be allowed to arbitrarily change definitions and create confusing, subjective and complicated rules leading to ambiguity, these rules are an attempt to circumvent legislation and through executive action effectively ban all braced pistols. This is a clear overstep of ATF authority and purview.
    SCOTUS has previously stated that laws must be clear and simple.
    “Clear" means easy to understand or intelligible. It also means unequivocal or unambiguous. For a document to be described as clear, it must not only be easy for its audience to understand but also convey the same message to those who read it.
    The ATF rule change is intentionally extremely subjective in wording and provides a back door to ultimately determine a braced pistol to be a NFA item upon their final opinion and position despite otherwise passing their arbitrary scoring system.
    Ultimately, the Constitution is clear, under the 2A: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. It does not say government has the ability to determine what is an acceptable form of arms for the people to bear. It says shall not be infringed. The people have a right to own, carry, transport, manufacture, or modify arms as necessary to maintain a well regulated body capable of defense of self or nation, period.
    Please, contact your local, state, and federal representatives and congressman. Let them know we the people will not relinquish our freedoms and rights, given by God and enumerated in our Constitution. We will not allow subjugation of the People and tyranny by our governments an opportunity to take root. Then go to the ATF website and make a stand and let our voices be heard, provide a comment on this rule change as well as the other proposed regulations that infringe upon our Constitutional rights.
    If we don’t let our voices be heard then we allow our rights to be taken!

I want to like q but there’s nothing q does better then sig other than maybe marketing and the erector. The Rattler is better then the honey badger, the sig QD is better then Q’s, sig makes inconel and TI cans opposed to Q’s ti only Rifle cans, and their direct thread cans are neck and neck. The Q erector is a game changer though, can’t wait for the 45 cal can.

    Like the comparison, the honesty was appreciated but in all honesty. Military aspect, Sig is the pistol for the newbs with no experience, HB is for those with trained experience. If you specialize in something you can respect both but HB all the way for me.

    • @ANRDesignLLC
      @ANRDesignLLC  2 роки тому

      I don't agree. The HB is much more finicky. Well this one was! The upper and lower were not properly blue printed at the time of production. Q ended up replacing the upper receiver, bolt, bolt carrier; when they rebuilt it under warranty. During the filming of this video, there was a LOT wrong with the gun.

    Does you stock lock up tight on the HB? Does the chamber side stock rail have a large gouge in it where the locking block engages?

  • @timw9919
    @timw9919 5 років тому

    As both are meant to be shot suppressed as hell its a 300 bo there is no other real reason as there are way better options unless you want sub suppressed use. With that said it comes down to suppressed use. ALL M_X (MPX MCX all gens SUCK suppressed. I have shot then both extensively with numerous suppressors. They Sigs gasses the hell out of you. You can hardly see thru just one mag and are choking at the end of any fast fire. Its 3x worse than any AR. This has to do with the Sig having a completely open receiver in the front. Look thru in a video when they do a break down. The receiver is like a hand guard extrusion in the front. SO what does this have to do with being gassed? IT being open and Sigs choice of having the gas block so close to the breech regardless of barrel length puts all gas vented from the piston system as well as gas from the chamber all in your face. Further the gas port being so close gives the sig very early chamber unlocking so you get even more gas back out the ejection port. This is in fact the likely reason its so much worse than a DI AR. Beyond that since Sig purposely made the charging handle non spec to ARs and did not manf a sealed design you get all that much more blow back in your face and have no way yet to upgrade. Your only choice is grab a tube of silicon and going to work like the old days before John @ PRI designed the gasbuster. If Sig would have moved the gas block further from breech or how ever timing it so it would not open under as much pressure. Now in other ways the MCX is great especially the last gen as Sig just used the consumer as beta testers uncool.
    Also the SIG is noticeably louder suppressed same suppressor. Its hard to believe they allowed its suppressed gas in your face perf for the SOCOM SURG contract although its suppressor not consumer avaiable is a beast. Huge diameter breaks down and has a protective cage. So maybe the back pressure is much lower with it???
    IMO you will do better to build your own these days as there is go info if you have the skills beyond just bolting an R together ie knowing barrel and chamber really understanding how the AR system works. Understanding dwell time and how the different parts effect it.
    Do yourself a favor and build it only to shoot subs as there are much better choices for super sonic AR15s such as 6.8 6.5 Valkyrie etc just swap the upper worst case. With all that said the Sig design is the best design short of the HK416A7 C config which is a 9" version requested by NSWC. Sorry but Sig will never have teh quality of build of HK never. But again Sig _X is an awesome design in its current generation. I own one and will own a couple more. Would I sell my HK Mp5 for a 9" M{X? No way. But if I had not been trained on a HK and had not owned one I most likely would have gotten a MPX as you dont know what you dont know and the MPX controls being AR is so much better.
    BTW today Rattles can be had for under or right at $2K all day long. The HB is still more and it has a LONG waiting period and they will nto even make pistol version until the current run of rifles are do for that run. So a HB P is going to add even more time. That is on top of the jail time if you get a SBR. Rattlers can be found everywhere as its Sig
