Why is it that all the interviews concentrate on mostly or only their 80’s music?! This band is WAY more than Take on Me! They have put out albums all the way up till this past year! All kinds of different and amazing sounds. It is so frustrating to me. I have no idea how they stay so polite. I would be like “Umm yes, and we have a TON of other songs since then. How about we do something absolutely insane and maybe talk about our NEW album? If that is too crazy, how about maybe East of the Sun? Can we at least go into the 90’s, if 2000’s are too scary?”. Sigh …😞
I did catch an interview where Morten said they have two Catalogs. One is Take on Me and the other is ALL their other songs! He even said Take on Me has always been a better pop star than they could ever be.
And Magne, quite a few times, has said something to the effect that he has written and been a part of making many many songs. Somehow though, he must have peaked at 15.
Does nobody hear them when they say these things? Are people really that clueless? 🤔
Thank you for saying this. I don't know how they don't just sigh " like here we go again" lol. I have thought this so many times ...not just with a-ha, but with so many bands. Same with Simple Minds who have piles and piles and piles of albums in music and are amazing and all anybody ever wants to talk about is Don't You forget About Me.

I have caught two radio interviews with Morton where the interviewers DID actually ask about other things. They even treated Morton like he had a brain in his head. Not 80’s and not his looks. My head almost exploded!😂 I should try to find a way to contact them and thank them.
It is a shame they do this to bands. I mean, I get it to a point if the reporters are trying to reach more of an audience. Perhaps just saying they did that song in the introduction (so those who aren’t too familiar can get an idea) and then GASP…moving onto what they are doing NOW? I know, totally crazy thought. I mean, there aren’t any people in the world who care what they are doing now, right? 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🙄
Have you heard Luther, President Obama’s “Anger Translator”? If not, definitely look it up. I would so be the “Anger Translator” free of charge for Morten, Pål, and Magne. 😂😂
I couldn’t agree with both of you more … a-ha’s REAL fans are well aware of everything they have done aside from “Take on Me” -which is obviously an incredible song with a very special and absolutely unforgettable video - but a-ha has done SO much more, and in most fans’ opinions they’ve done so much better than “Take on Me”!!! 🥰🥰🥰 Personally, I ADORE East of the Sun West of the Moon, and that is largely because a-ha used Morten’s lower vocal register so much in that album, and I happen to think that although his falsetto is amazing, his lower vocal range is where Morten’s voice is REALLY incredible!!! So I could listen to EOTSWOTM every day for the rest of my life (and I probably will) and never get tired of it … Everything about that album is just perfect, from Morten’s voice to Pål’s and Magne’s lyrics to the hauntingly gorgeous keyboard riffs (for instance, “Slender Frame” brings me to tears each time I hear Morten humming and Magne’s gorgeous piano work) to the wonderfully expressive and solid rocking guitar work by Pål … I simply cannot say enough good things about how great that album is!

@@ElanurMH Yes, Memorial Beach is also among my favorite a-ha albums, and again, for me that is because they utilized Morten’s lower vocal range so well in that album. It’s a shame, IMO, that they don’t do more songs from these two albums live … EOTMWOTS gets almost completely neglected, aside from “Crying in the Rain,” which is perhaps the best version of that song ever done, but I don’t feel it’s even in the top five songs off of that album. In fact, almost every time I play EOTSWOTM, I think to myself, “How could a-ha not have believed that any of these other amazing songs would have been a successful single???”
To be honest, I'm not a fan of their early songs! for me, A-ha is the 2000s! Simply amazing songs and creativity! I would give half my life to hear them perform live

I thought it was one of the unmistakenably signs of their songs that you can't dance on them!?
Absolutely! They may complain all they want about how the world is indifferent to their music except Take on me. But the reason is simple: people want something to dance to. A-ha lacks that element in their music. Take Duran Duran for example. They had a great dancing stuff in 2004-2005. Songs like reach up for the sunrise and what happens tomorrow. Those songs made you wanna live and dance. What happens tomorrow even held a no 1 position in the biggest Russian Radio chart for a year. Everyone loved it. A-ha on the contrary had only one ok single in that period: celice. It had the dance feel to it. Otherwise they had nothing but a boring and slow analogue album with badly produced sound and strange, Beatlesque songs.
I always call myself a very disappointed fan. I fell in love with a-ha in 2002, but became very bored by late 2005. Analogue was the last straw for me. I still hold those 3 years and lifelines album close to my heart, but I consider their career a failure. They lacked ideas and desire to create, accompanied by Morten's horrible live performances with his constant mistakes in lyrics, which is stupid and cringy), bad live sound, their conflicts and greed. All in all, a-ha is a disaster of a band.
@@victoriasmalikova6229 I did never own any album of this so called band or attended any of those concerts either for good reasons too, but not your reasons since I did never really listen too much to their stuff at all, they've been mistakenly been upfront together with other live bands with greater ideas and better inputs for society in main stream settings. A-ha on the other hand is not as popular to me since they do stuff I do think is ok, but would only leave it that way, the music is fine, settled and good enough for the ears too, however, only one single hit Take on me was over-rated by TV stations too, I do very well remember that it ran all the time on TV and I got upset about this a lot too already in the 80's. So this all results in that we do not at all like this stuff anymore since those managers on TV overdo this stuff and the result is that one finally rolls one's eyes and gets really bored about this stuff, each and every time one has to watch it. There are some other over-rated songs they still play over and over, no fun at all to us.
@@brittabeeck4457 I did own albums and dreamt about seeing them live when I was a teenager. But then I saw their live at Valhall show from 2001 on tv. I got extremely disappointed with vocals, sound, Morten plucking his fingers in his ear the entire show... ridiculous.... I'd never paid a single dime for an a-ha concert even if they would come and play in my yard.
These guys were part of my youth, so I like them. I remember their faces in magazine Bravo.
