I'm new to converting an enclosed trailer into a Toy Hauler Travel Trailer. I just purchased my Trailer on this Friday passed. I have a long journey but my Wife and I are up to the challenge. I have been researching and watching Video and reading articles to inform myself as to the conversion. I want to say, out of all the converted trailer videos, I like yours the best. I like your floor plan; your equipment and of course, your style. Thank you for the links. Your video really helped much.
I have to say, your approach to showing this product is creative. A salesman at heart. Most of us who choose to convert cargo trailers to campers are not financially capable of forking out the expensive items you present. Obviously you’re not too technical and creative like the rest of us so, I’m happy for you that you can just have the unit you desire. God bless you and yours
I'm probably more technical and creative then most building these just like having nice things. My first trailer I build all the bed and furniture. But my setup time is about 5 minutes in this trailer vs 20 to 30 in the other trailer. And when it's raining that makes a huge difference
I built a 6X10 for working on the road and learned a lot. I did go with an electric water heater outta the gate and plumed the shower head on the back door so showers are taken outside. Since I went electric on the water I went with a small 120 home depot refrigerator also. Since I'm by myself a half hour a day of running the generator keeps my fridge cold all day everyday because I dont open it that often. I shoe horses in southern states during the winter months so didn't insulate due to the fact that my work takes me from 70° in the north to 70°weather in the south like clockwork. I'm making a fortune yet I still camp out on free land dispersed camping year round! I'm saving a lot of money thanks to my cargo conversion. Cook stove has 18,000 BTU burners so coffee is done in about 3 minutes. Life is good. Awesome job on your cargo conversion, thanks for sharing
Of all campers, cargo trailers, tiny homes, rv's etc... Your cargo conversion was the best and most chic in my opinion. Beautifully crafted. Me being single it would've been smaller (half the size) with enough room for my electric bicycles and electric motorcycle.
You did amazing job on this cargo trailer. Pat yourself on the back sir! I love this trailer. I pray that I had one like yours to take my autistic grandson and other grandkids traveling the USA.
I have the same jack for my trailer, omg. it's so slow! Awesome build. I just installed solar panels on my 7x14 cargo trailer camper conversion. So exciting.
Nice video building a square drop I'm definitely getting a hot water heater and wiring a 30 amp fuse so I can hook up I'm getting older so I need already got a black water tank and a water tank
Would suggest adding a roof vent, as a matter of fact add a larger one that allows access to the roof for an escape route plus for some like myself an easy way to get up on the roof.
GOOD JOB on all info sounds like a lot of work. I can't see my self pulling a trailer big crash??!! You left spare at home many times LOL! THANK YOU I LISTEND TO EVERY THING YOU SAID! YOU SOUND LIKE A EXPERT! I would put a black or dark grey rubber mat on floor where you park your 4 wheeler to protect floor which should be easier to keep floor clean & easy to wipe off. I thought you were parking a dirt bike under the bed. I kept seeing the word toy hauler on youtube videos?? I thought you men were toy salesman? I figured out toy hauling ment a dirt bike or 3 or 4 wheeler not small toys like Toys-R-Us?? LOL It's nice to see your family enjoying this nice toy hauler even though our government has gone nutty! BLESSINGS to you & your family.
Great info there. Your experience is serving you well. Excellent workmanship too. The music is awful and unnecessary and much too loud. I much prefer to just hear your voice. But what a nice build! 👍
It's obvious a lot of thought was used in planning, especially the matching rims and tires to the haul vehicle. Excellent job on the trailer and video. Muchas gracias!
Hello Mike! Wonderful job on your conversion and congratulations ! I admire your ingenuity and perseverance. I'm more annoyed at all the negative comments about your background music than the music itself. It really didn't bother me at all. I guess I was listening to you and trying to absorb all I could. Don't pay too much attention to them. You'll never please all of them. Great job and many great days and nights in your trailer. I loved the shower!!!!
Thank you. I have honestly watch this about 10 times and all though the music can be a bit loud at times I feel like you can still hear what I'm saying. But this is the last video I have used music in. I might do a video without music of a faster walk around of the trailer
Nice job, good info. The music was loud, as a previous comment stated don't listen about the music, but what they don't realize some people cannot hear as well and it makes it a little harder to hear what your saying.
Keep from rear end trailer scrubbing dragging use wide pan cake rollers on back rear of trailer keeps rear trailer from tearing up. Usually anything standard heigth in a enclosed trailer over a 20' -21' total length ball coupler to rear of trailer should, to keep from dragging. Taller trailer keeps rear end of trailer dragging as much but pan cake rollers wheels are cheaper to add and install when buying or ordering a trailer.
Beautiful job! So many unique ideas to incorporate into a new project! I would elevate the port-a.- potty to a comfortable chair height level and have a door to open to access the emptying of the tank
Amazing. I was looking at doing that for working out of town. However.....I called and couldn’t find a single campground in the area I’m heading to next, that will allow converted cargo trailers, vans, or tiny homes. So I may just give in and get a travel trailer. Sad, because many of these are built far better than those travel trailers.
Now that was definitely was so worth watching.the best conversion ive seen ever.. Thanks for sharing your very Thought out job.Its perfect.... So darn nice! You nailed it!!!!
Music is very distracting and not necessary.Love the video what I could hear. What is the weight of the trailer with all of your add ons with water etc ?You did an excellent job. What is the weight of the trailer like this? How much is the weight with all of the water etc?
My husband and I are retired and we live on a budget. We have a place here in our town that does RTO for the haulers. We bought a much older RV a few years ago but the motor blew so it's just parked in our yard now, We are thinking of using the stuff from the RV for the Hauler. Do you think other than electrical we will need anything else to build ours? We have an 08 Electra Glide that will go where we go. So it must be functional as well as liveable for us. We loved your video and your camper is gorgeous. I just hope ours turns out 1/4 as great as yours!!!!
Great video where I appreciated your tips and lessons learned. That was very helpful Had a couple questions: Where did you get the trailer from? What are the dimensions of your trailer? Was it easy to get insurance for trailer including all build out? How much does your trailer weigh after building out?
Bought it straight from the manufacturer in Georgia. It's 28 plus 4 foot v. I ordered it with an extra foot of height. I have it insured for 20000. It's about 7100 complete now.
Love the elevator bed, and the epoxy pour looks good. Not sure why you have an outlet in the kitchen counter. Not safe since chance of mixing water and electricity! For your drains, did you consider a p-trap alternative, like a HepvO waste valve or a waterless trap seal to prevent smells from coming up the drain? Maybe your drains have something similar that I missed. (The music got to me, so I had to mute it off and on, and I had to skip a chunck......vid too long for me. Nothing personal!) Thanks for sharing your build, especially the links to products you used.
The outlet is there for cooking. And is pretty far from the sink and is protected by a gfi. The drain i have never had any smells come in usually when you hooked up you waste hose will have some kind of dip in it that will act as a p trap. I do know about the music being loud in some places it was just the way the music was that the volume in it changes alot.all my newer videos will have the music much lower. I added time marks for people that don't want to watch everything and can skip to exactly what they want.
@@BuiltByMike The thing with the receptacle is that others will copy it. It's not safe, that's why its against code. The electrical code is written as the bare minimum for safety, so it's not like the writers were being extra cautious. I find it interesting that people don't trust things made in China, unless it's a device meant to protect you. Not picking on you. It's everyone.
Doing my first toy hauler conversion. Your video is super helpful. Can you add the link for the 4 small water storage containers that hold your tent down from your video.
Absolutely beautiful job and excellent advice. Maybe just my phone and iPad, but the music was making it hard for me to hear clearly. Maybe make it not as loud as your voice. Such great information I didn’t want to miss anything.
Love the detail in the vid. I only have 1 question. If I get the trailer already insulated wouldn't I still have to remove the interior panels to run the wiring for outlets etc?
Sorry I disagree with the insulation from the factory, the R factor from the factory is R5. Using spray foam sprayed underneath and in the ceiling and walls will give you an airtight seal plus minimum R12 in the walls, R18 in the ceiling, R24 underneath. This always makes the trailer more rigid as well.
I know there is better insulation available .most people just use plain foam. Very few use spray foam. So far its worked for me. I haven't done my floor as usually dont use it in extremely cold climates
@@BuiltByMike Yes using foam boards creates a air gap between the walls and the foam board which can cause condensation. Closed cell spray foam eliminates that problem. I am glad the factory insulation serves your purpose.
HEY MAN! How about mounting your spare tire on the side of the outside of the trailer with a lock? Or boxed it in on the outside? Maybe you don't know? But you can go as wide as your fenders or tires and still be legal on the road.... Nice build & vid.
I NOTICED THE FLUSH FENDERS NICE. I SAW BLUE RIMS NICE & NICE BLUE KITCHEN COUNTER TOPS & BACK SPLASH IS BLUE YOU MUST LIKE BLUE! I LIKE HOW YOUR WINDOWS ARE INVISIBLE OUTSIDE! I LIKE HOW YOU TOLD ABOUT CHANGES YOU MADE ON NEW TRAIKER COMPARED TO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCES WITH PRIOR BUILDS, LIKE YOUR HEATER DID NOT KEEP TRAILER WARM WHEN IT WAS LIKE 20°? AND HOW LOUD AC WAS ON TOP OF TRAILER?? WOW THESE ARE THINGS NO ONE KNOWS UNTIL ITS TO LATE!! RAIN AND NO PLACE TO PUT MATTRESS TO KEEP IT DRY?? SHOWER TO SMALL CURTAIN STICKS TO YOUR BODY. I LIKE HIW YOUR BED GOES UP & DOWN ITS ELECTRIC, SOME GUY HAD A BED IN BACK OF HIS TRAILER HE HAD TO PULL EACH CORNER OF BED UP WITH STRAPS A LITTLE BIT AT A TIME IT TOOK FOR EVER HE NEEDED A MOTOR. I VIDEO OF HOW YOU MADE COUNTER TOP WOULD BE NICE. THANK YOU GOOD JOB! IAM SURE YOUR FAMILY IS HAVING A GOOD TIME WITH YOUR JOURNEYS IN YOUR WONDERFUL FAMILY TRAILER!
I hopped around trying to get some information. It looks like a great build, with nice products and excellent execution/installation. Congratulations! But the music on it's own is nice but when you're talking it's irritating as anything. Migraine inducing tbh... even hopping and skipping around it gave me a headache. So I gave up and tried to just mute it and use the closed caption. But that's pretty bothersome too. LOL Any way for you to post this without the music so I could listen to what you have to say?
Do campgrounds like KOA actually let you bring this "trailer" and leave it there? Has anyone asked you what exactly it is, also did you insure this trailer, and what about code like fire exits? Thanks.
I’ve got a 24’ Hallmark I converted (not nearly as nice as this one😕) and I’m originally from California. Registration on any brand RV manufactured toy hauler was between 500-700$ per year. These are registered as a cargo trailer, in Ca you get a permanent plate and every 5 years you send the state 10$. In AZ a permanent plate is 129.00 for life! Not only do you get exactly what you want and need but it’s much better built than any factory unit (I’ve owned 2 of those over the years) but you add up the savings in registration alone adds up quick. Only the parks that advertise no rig over 10 years old not allowed have I ever been restricted. This gentleman did a super job!
On the door to the mini-split, cut a hole in the door, add a vent cover, and you won't have to have the door open to use the Air Conditioner. Between it and the hole in the floor, it will give you plenty of airflow. That is about all I would change except I would add a second battery for longer battery power availability.
Rather have the door open then have a ugly mess door that water will go through everytime it rains.. I can go all day on one battery. Have to build what works best for you.
Very nice build. I'm about to start on my 7 x 14. I really like the frameless window look from the outside but I cannot find the frameless windows that you installed. Can you please leave a link or brand so I can find those windows. Thanks.
Very nice video and good build. I really like the sub-floor idea and all the drain piping to go out at one point to hook up to outside tank awesome. LED lighting is nice idea. Bathroom door that is must 👍awesome. What is your experience for on-demand tankless water heater because that may be space saver for smaller trailer like I am thinking for 6x12 size.
hey there mike. GREAT video. i found it very helpful and appreciate all of the product links to the stuff that you used. i have 2 questions. 1. how wide is your trailer and 2. how many feet is it from the end of the refrigerator to the back ramp? thanks in advance
I have about 19 and a half inchs from the refrigerator to gate and about 18 ft from the wardrobe to gate. Trailer is 8.5 wide and 7 feet tall. Getting the extra height is a must
Very nice trailer, sorry about all the comments but I am a 60 year old retired carpenter / IT professional who has built a few trailers. I would believe you would want your viewers to have a second opinion. Buying your trailer with floor bare and coating it with epoxy is the best bet as it will expand and contract with the movement of the trailer.
Everyone builds the trailers to suit their own needs. Epoxy floor coating aren't very flexible either and will most likely crack at joins also. If I can do it over I would have had the manufacturer install the one piece vinyl floor.
@@vice4134 it's finished behind the walls for a cleaner look. You can also diy it but won't come out as clean. And viynl plank on the Dove tail doesnt work great.
@@BuiltByMike I understand, but when it's worn out and needs to be replaced. You will have to cut it out anyway. So, installing it yourself can look good with trims around the trailer. I'm sorry about your experience with that trailer company. To save your time, I looked at all 400 comments so I don't have to repeat those same questions many have. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
It works great. It holds about 5 to 6 gallons of hot water mounted the way I have it. And you run the hot about 25 percent hot water and 75 cold water so you have about 15 gallons to shower. We don't leave the water running like we do in the house though. It takes about 20 minutes to heat up again if you go through it completely
How did you secure your wardrobe cabinet to the wall? I have a 7x14 cargo camper conversion as well that i'm building, almost done with it. Just completed the solar last weekend. Your trailer is nicer than mine though.
Hey Mike Good looking trailer . I love the black on black! And also love the blue epoxy tops. I'm working on my 3rd cargo conversion and also scored a happijac bed along with the couch bed below. Just wondering if you had notch the happijac uprights Into the floor because of the height? My rear uprights barely fit because of the dovetail but will work and the 2 fronts will have to protrude through the floor and ill box them in to seal them up form the outside .
@@BuiltByMike I picked mine up for $500 so I really can't complain about the extra work lol. Also love the frameless, I've added 6 frameless windows on my 22' haulmark edge screw less panels. Also I'm thinking a may regret the rooftop ac I put in. I should ha e done more research on the mini split. Anyway great job on your build man.
Beautiful Trailer & So Nice & Clean & I Can't Really See How it Could Be Better, But Sometimes The Music Is Too Loud & Its Kinda Hard To Hear What Your Saying, But I/ We will Watch More, GREAT JOB
You have the nicest conversion I’ve seen. And I’ve watched tons of videos. I really like that tool box you put your sewer hoses in and I can’t find one. Is there any way you could send me a link to it? Thanks
Awesome upgrades on your trailer, and hoping you can recommend and or share where to buy base trailer. I would like to purchase trailer with insulation, windows, doors, and dual axles, etc… thanks for sharing.
Love all the thought you put into everything, what is the length of your trailer & the current waight with all of the furniture and accessories installed.
Hi Mike, what is the dimensions of the garage area? Max length, width, height? I want to build something similar that can fit a Jeep Cheorkee with a 4" lift.
Very nice work Mike! Good Job. I’m considering building one myself but am limited on time. How much did this build cost you? How many hours did it take you? It may be better for me just to buy what I want if its not much more expensive.
Nice build man. At any point did you consider adding propane and why didn’t you. Would have solved your refrigerator issue and could have cut in a small gas cook top.
I’m curious as to what inverter you used? What size was it and was it a pure sine inverter? Is the refrigerator fastened and if so how? I have a 28’ trailer I’m working on now myself

LOL
Any way for you to post this without the music so I could listen to what you have to say?
I will be making a new video that is shorter with no music soon.
AWESOME BUILD I really like the mini split set up!
Marvelous.i love your trailer setup.
Thank you
Hey Mike, awesome looking build. If there is a version with no background music I would love to here what you are telling us. Please ping me the link.
Here you go ua-cam.com/video/7eDMaQe4axY/v-deo.html
Do campgrounds like KOA actually let you bring this "trailer" and leave it there? Has anyone asked you what exactly it is, also did you insure this trailer, and what about code like fire exits? Thanks.
Not sure about any code. I have been to many different parks and none have said anything. Some fancy places in the keys don't allow it though
Great trailer and video. Did you ever consider adding a patio door in the back?
No too hot in Florida to leave it open
Thank you for all this great info my friend. Im going to watch this a few times and take notes the next time .
Also fixed the links so they should be working now
I agree... Hard to hear. Too bad because you seem to have important information for us. 🤔 I watched it muted. The most beautiful build I've ever seen.
I've had people say they mute it and put the sub titles. Sorry.
Thanks.
Look around on ebay for rv frameless windows. It was a surplus dealer I bought them from
Love my Mikita vacuum, will have to purchase the blower.
Too many amps to run on a generator
hey there mike.
Getting the extra height is a must
As I said before MDF is very heavy. Baltic birch is the material to use when building out a trailer.
@@BuiltByMike Or you could install vinyl floor yourself. What makes it special coming from the manufacturer?
@@vice4134 it's finished behind the walls for a cleaner look. You can also diy it but won't come out as clean. And viynl plank on the Dove tail doesnt work great.
@@BuiltByMike
I understand, but when it's worn out and needs to be replaced. You will have to cut it out anyway. So, installing it yourself can look good with trims around the trailer.
I'm sorry about your experience with that trailer company. To save your time, I looked at all 400 comments so I don't have to repeat those same questions many have. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
Mike i loved the information you gave. We are looking to build out our trailer but not for camping but as a mobile lounge. Where are you located?
Did you find Danby refrigerator to be a quiet rated appliance? We are in the process of making our own cargo trailer conversion.
I can't hear it running
How well does the water heater work. Quick recovery time? Ever run out of hot water when showering?
It works great. It holds about 5 to 6 gallons of hot water mounted the way I have it. And you run the hot about 25 percent hot water and 75 cold water so you have about 15 gallons to shower. We don't leave the water running like we do in the house though. It takes about 20 minutes to heat up again if you go through it completely
Very nice. But why do you have to lower the back gate and go outside to lower the bed? What if it's dark, or raining?
Trailer has loading lights over the back gate and I'm usually taking atvs out or a car out and I just lower before closing the door.
Your p-trap should be horizontal. It won’t hold water slopping down. :)
So, the Cynergy trailer... are you still happy with it? I almost ordered this same one, then I saw a TON of bad reviews on them....
They all have bad reviews. I haven't had and major issues. Just don't think your getting a perfect trailer.
@@BuiltByMike either way, you did a fantastic job on it. Thank you.
Nice trailer
the harbor freight sprayer I would make sure it is safe you don't want to use it for drinking water
I only use for shower water. All drinking water is bottled
How did you secure your wardrobe cabinet to the wall? I have a 7x14 cargo camper conversion as well that i'm building, almost done with it. Just completed the solar last weekend. Your trailer is nicer than mine though.
L brackets from the top to the wall
@@BuiltByMike Awesome thank you !
Thanks for sharing and giving good explanation with details. However, I was hoping you whrere going to pull your side by side in for viewing.
Hey Mike
Good looking trailer .
Thats exactly what I did the front ones go through the floor.
Real nice build
Thanks
Beautiful Trailer & So Nice & Clean & I Can't Really See How it Could Be Better, But Sometimes The Music Is Too Loud & Its Kinda Hard To Hear What Your Saying, But I/ We will Watch More, GREAT JOB
ua-cam.com/video/7eDMaQe4axY/v-deo.html check this out shorter and no music
Amazing build !!! Absolutely beautiful !!
Thanks you. We are actually out on it this weekend.
Best looking conversion I have seen.
Thank you.
Awesome build, see you at Sebring next year! This is giving me lots of ideas
Thanks. See you there. I'm kinda hard to miss
@@BuiltByMike looks like you are in the zoo, turn 5/6
That is at turn 11
You have the nicest conversion I’ve seen. And I’ve watched tons of videos. I really like that tool box you put your sewer hoses in and I can’t find one. Is there any way you could send me a link to it? Thanks
Go to harbor freight. Com. They have a couple different sizes.
Awesome upgrades on your trailer, and hoping you can recommend and or share where to buy base trailer. I would like to purchase trailer with insulation, windows, doors, and dual axles, etc… thanks for sharing.
I purchased through southern trailer in Georgia.
@@BuiltByMike thanks for your response… I’ll check them out, and at the very least I’ll get an idea of my start up costs. Much appreciated…
I wouldn't recommend installing windows. It will bring in heat & cops if you park on the street.
Super nice build bro
Thank you
@@BuiltByMike one day I’ll get one and maybe you can help hahhaha
Awesome build man I love it thanks for the show.
Anytime
Oh WOW man that’s so awesome. Thank you for all the good ideas.
Thanks for the insight on the 90 degree V and the side storage compartment.
Torsion suspension does give a better ride, however if damage the cost to repair is very high compared to leaf spring suspension.
I thought he said Timber Suspension which is an aftermarket brand he decided to go with.
Love all the thought you put into everything, what is the length of your trailer & the current waight with all of the furniture and accessories installed.
It's 28 plus a 4 ft v. It's at 7300 empty
Hi Mike, what is the dimensions of the garage area? Max length, width, height? I want to build something similar that can fit a Jeep Cheorkee with a 4" lift.
I picked up a 16 foot for 600 bucks! Not even rotted out. Older but will work for bikes
That's a steal
Really liked the video and amazing job on it
Very nice work Mike! Good Job. I’m considering building one myself but am limited on time. How much did this build cost you? How many hours did it take you? It may be better for me just to buy what I want if its not much more expensive.
I have about 20k in this one including the trailer. If you don't need a alot of garage space its cheaper to buy a travel trailer
Great build it gives me some ideas thank you for sharing
Awesome build! What is your clearance under your bed for your RZR? Looking to do the same, not sure of the height.
Not sure. I know my rs1 fit with about 2 inchs of clearance.
Nice build man. At any point did you consider adding propane and why didn’t you. Would have solved your refrigerator issue and could have cut in a small gas cook top.
Didn't want the tanks or possible leaks to deal with. I run perfectly fine off a 3500 generator.
I’m curious as to what inverter you used? What size was it and was it a pure sine inverter? Is the refrigerator fastened and if so how? I have a 28’ trailer I’m working on now myself
Its a 1500watt pure sine inverter. I 3d printed cups that are screwed down that fit the feet of the fridge to keep it from moving
Nice setup.
Thank you
Also, did you put the paneling over plywood or directly to the trailer framing/studs?
Paneling went over the original plywood walls
Excellent job! Your my inspiration! Nice video!
Beautiful built. Love the blue back splash and counter tops. Classy
Thanks
