- An advert to Gateway Superstores with music with it's slogan "Full of Fresh Ideas".
History: Gateway was a supermarket chain prevalent in the South West of England of the 1960's and 1970's. It later became Somerfield in 1994 as Somerfield/Gateway and then in 1996 the Gateway name had disappeared and became just "Somerfield", and then in 2010 Somerfield was bought out by the Co-Op. All Somerfield/Co-Op stores are now just standalone Co-Op stores.
BTW the only Somerfield/Co-Op store left in our area is at Adelaide Terrace, Newcastle, England!! (now closed and turned into an Asda store) - Розваги
I had the record of this and I believe it got into the charts just in the top 40 happy times .
worked for gateway and had to sit and watch this before they released the ad.
I used to work in a gateways store in Epsom when I was 18, now it’s a cinema
I worked for gateway from 1986-1988 for a mear £9.10 a week for 10hrs a week! Shocking money really and treated terribly by management as I was a student!
The Guys nice
We used to drive 15 miles to our nearest Gateway in the late 1980's ... it must have been cheap, as we passed several other supermarkets on the way
this is quite melancholy...I thought they wanted people to buy stuff
What Store is this that is shown at the end of the clip?
who was the singerin this ad?
Willy Finlayson is credited on the vinyl release that followed this advert being screened, I purchased the 7" record complete with a Gateway label on the picture sleeve
Actually some of the Gateway/Somerfield stores turned into Morrisons. The one near me did, anyway.
And the rest were cooperative society stores
