Hi Joel, nice videos. Question, I recently ordered the point doctor from bct, of course this was prior to watching this video. The point doctor sounds similar but seems like the uk guys use it more as a sharpener, curious if you had,any input as to if point doctor could be used the way you used the rock. Cheers
Hi buddy, thanks for checking out the video. I’ve used the point Dr. from what I remember while the rock and the point dr are both a similar compound the rock is softer and made from a compound that removes the micro Burs while not rounding over the point of the hook. The compound of the point dr is much harder and I think will damage the hook point more if it is pushed into the point dr in the same way as the rock is used. From my time using the point dr, it’s ideal for refinements on the hook point once a regular hook file has been used. I really only use the rock to give hooks a little more life after I have had a fish or two on the same hook or on a recast if it hung up on some chod etc. Hope that helps.
