GoBots were called 'Machine Men' in my country. We bought the black train and our minds were blown by the whole concept of transforming toys. Then Transformers came out and we forgot all about GoBots. I never saw the cartoon, but watched the Transformers show religiously. I was briefly into the Rock Lords toys. Didn't realise that they were GoBots at the time.
If you want to go back farther before they were Transformers and Gobots, you would see that the Transformers toy line came before the GoBots original toy line the Transformers toy lines of a region were diaclone and microman. The GoBots original toy line was machine robo. Diaclone and microman were made before machine robo. Which makes the Transformers the original. Just because machine Robo was the first to make it to the US doesn't make them the best. Machine Robo was made by Bandai and diaclone and microman were made by Takara.
While I do believe Transformers to be the far better franchise. I still have a soft spot for the lil GoBots. The cartoon was goofy, fun. And most of their toys were pretty simple. They had a funny lil charm to them.
2:15 Even The Decepticons allied with a mad scientist like that for few episodes. It's kinda ironic how the leaders had the same color but inverted: Megatron and Leader One were light gray while Optimus and Cy Kill were blue, red and white with some yellow details.
I loved gobots the tv series as a kid and got back into them a few months ago. I like this video, you, BW Rosas, have a point....there are definitely similarities between GB's and TF's. I enjoyed the video.
I was into Gobots big time when I was a kid. I still like em, I recently collected a nice size portion of the action figures that I had and I got the series on dvd. I liked Transformers when I was a kid too but since I didn’t have the channel that Transformers was on, I had to rely on VHS rentals. When the G1 series and movie was released on dvd, I bought them pretty quickly. The only thing that I don’t have that I want is the Gobots movie (battle of the rock lords). It’s not out on dvd. It wasn’t that great of a movie but, it’s Gobots so if it ever comes out on dvd, I’ll get it too.
Gobots came when i was 11 but Transformers a little late for about 4 years later.. had a Gobot Toys but lost it by my siblings since i went out from from home at 19.. no doubt transformers is a winner but Gobots gives me more memory than the other.
I believe the Takara company that made the toys in Japan did what was the Transformers first. Gobots copied them for the American cartoon but Hasbro became a business partner with Takara and brought Transformers to the United States. Of course at the time I didnt know that. Of course what I really liked back then was Voltron until the Transformers hit it big, Votron and Gobots came out within days of each other.
The reason I believe transformers took off was because of the show. Challenge of the go-bots looked very bad and doesn't hold up as well as transformers(TRANSFORMERS HAS TONS OF ISSUES TOO BUT NOT AS MANY AS "CHALLENGE OF THE GO-BOTS" also the name is not easy to remember its too long.)
“And then there gonna be like knock knock who’s there not drill head then they open the door and it’s screw head and they all like oh no it’s screwhead”
I do love the Gobots storyline involving the Last Engineer and the Maste Renegade. humans from the distant past who helped to create the robots and Gobotron.
I’m 40, Spanish, but grew up in England. Transformers were the number one, the dun and EVERYBODY thought so, they even got a movie. I also like the Go Bots, but they were a far second. They had decent characters like Baron Voy Joy and Scooter, but the transformers were stronger by far
Man, being a fan of Beast Wars,Non-G1 Transformers iterations and Go-Bots is frustrating with the G1 fan elitists being around patronizing people for growing up with other Transformers shows or movies that don't involve G1 even tho' I liked Rise of the Beasts alot too lol.
I can say that if you still have these toys from the 80s, you'd probably get a lot of money 💰 from them on eBay if that's what you choose to do. The 80s rocked! No other decade in terms of toys could ever measure up!
I remember buying pocket-money Robo Machines back in 1983 before the cartoon premiered! In 1984, my first Transformer was Huffer, and he was my favourite. It seems that Transformers killed him off..., but GoBots brought him back in 2004... as Road Ranger! I'm a GoBot now! *;-)* PS. Diaclone & MicroChange pre-dates Machine Robo, yet the GoBots concept pre-dates the Transformers concept... so they BOTH came first! Kind of....
The Transformers TV series started in 1984, but the toys that it was developed from, were released in 1980. In every way, Gobots were only ever a poor quality imitation
First off, the Transformers had far cooler names: Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starscream, Bumblebee, etc. Some of these names became known in pop culture. Gobots had very generic and unimaginative names: Got a cycle? Call him "Cy-kill". Got a scooter? Call him "Scooter". Is he the leader? Name him "Leader-1". Bulldozer? Call him "Dozer". And on and on. Those names were so uncreative that it was embarrassing. Plus the story line of the cartoons was generic compared to the Transformers.
Will Nelson Agree on the uncreative names and story lines when comparing both franchises . The Transformers also had some great story arcs and the characters had stronger personalities , it was somewhat darker as they dared kill off Optimus Prime other beloved Autobot/ Decepticons the movie . GoBots to me always seemed very limited in scope , even the animation was rudimentary.
names like "megatron" were initially objected to, because it sounded "too scary." its also a reuse of a previous marvel character's name. so its not like gobot names were lame- they were perfectly normal by 80s standards. the transformer names were just way more metal than any other toyline.
Me too transformers g1 is done by Toei Animation and makes this so cool with the movie too and Gobots is done by Hanna Barbera and makes no other series of it
The Gobots series was published way before the Transformers. So that really made the Transformers sound like a ripoff lol I knew about the Gobot before the Transformers but I love both. The original Challenge of the Gobots series and the Transformers: Beast War :D
Transformers models for a bunch you love came out in like 1982 Optimus, Soundwave ALL OF THE FIRST YEAR came from Japan from like 1982 Gobots came after lol
As far as toys go bug bite had a better true to design vw beetle. Bumble bee had a cartoonish not true to design vw beetle. However I never saw bug bite in a cartoon. Must have been for you release only. But most importantly I was into classic (air cooled) vw’s. So whenever a vw appeared in cartoons and toys. I only judged the designs. Not the more successful franchise. 😜😜😜
Optimus Prime can slaughter all of the Gobots without no help he will kill them all like Optimus Prime is Goku in his final form and Gobots is the weaklings that are weak Optimus Prime will slaughter them all no matter which one it is good or bad nether of them can’t beat Optimus Prime
Transformers I could watch and enjoy cause they were cool, but the few times I watched the Gobots I felt shame. Like how could I lower myself to watch something so lame.
Ok and? Transformers had more complex transformations and were made of Diecast not cheap easy breakable plastic most of the time lol do you not like challenges they all looked like shit one was just his plane mode standing up with a folded down front and folded wings and Gobots are still better?
Megatron and Cy-Kill would be at each other's throats, both refusing to share absolute power with another.
Even though Transformers was more successful, I still love the Gobots, as well as Transformers.
I HAVE THEM I WISH THEY MADE FAN FILM IN CGI FORM
"most transformers carried hand held blasters"
proceeds to show clips of the two transformers who are remembered for their arm mounted blasters
transfactory one of them transformers into a gun
Inferno trailbreaker hoist grappel more?
p.s optimus prime (and possibly megatron) can also shoot lasers out of their hands
I like them both.
And hasbro have a line in playskool called gobots
And somehow, transformers got there own life action movies
Its called beimg successful
If you want to go back farther before they were Transformers and Gobots, you would see that the Transformers toy line came before the GoBots original toy line the Transformers toy lines of a region were diaclone and microman. Just because machine Robo was the first to make it to the US doesn't make them the best. Machine Robo was made by Bandai and diaclone and microman were made by Takara.
No that makes Diaclone and microman first not the Transformers
They were better because your parents wouldn't have to take out a fucking second mortgage to buy a character that's onscreen for more than 20 seconds
While I do believe Transformers to be the far better franchise. I still have a soft spot for the lil GoBots. The cartoon was goofy, fun. And most of their toys were pretty simple. They had a funny lil charm to them.
I remember I was into all these toys: Transformers, Gobots, and even the Rock Lords haha
When transformers first came out, all of them could fly, both autobots and decepticons
2:15 Even The Decepticons allied with a mad scientist like that for few episodes.
It's kinda ironic how the leaders had the same color but inverted:
Megatron and Leader One were light gray while Optimus and Cy Kill were blue, red and white with some yellow details.
I’m a fan of both!
Fitor was Cy-Kill's second in command.
I loved gobots the tv series as a kid and got back into them a few months ago. I like this video, you, BW Rosas, have a point....there are definitely similarities between GB's and TF's. I enjoyed the video.
Yeah I have gobots and transformers, love em both
Ah yes, the franchise that came in second. To be honest, I love both franchises.
Gobots - 1983
Transformers - 1984 (but technically most of the first two years 84-85 were just repaints of Japanese transforming toys)
um go bots were first
Finally, I'm not the only one dispite that G1 for the TF franchise never was my favorite to begin with because of fan elitism XD lol.
Very much drawn recently to Gobots though a long time Transformers fan as well. Thanks to MeTV Toons I got reintroduced to the Gobots. :D
I was into Gobots big time when I was a kid. I still like em, I recently collected a nice size portion of the action figures that I had and I got the series on dvd. I'd love to see these characters meet.
Transformers is the only cartoon that ever gave me nightmares, specifically "Dark Awakening"
Same here. For me, it was The Return of Optimus Prime.
Gobots came when i was 11 but Transformers a little late for about 4 years later.. had a Gobot Toys but lost it by my siblings since i went out from from home at 19.. no doubt transformers is a winner but Gobots gives me more memory than the other.

One thing that both franchises had were many of the same voice actors as well.
"Screw-Head, enough with the commentary. Anyway, I will lead Team 1, and Team 2's leader will be Tank"
I wonder what would happen if the go bots had their own live action movies instead of the go bots
So nostalgic.
Transformers, forever, optimus prime, & bumblebee, are my favoriteS,, thats all,,, 😁🙂😆
I do love the Gobots storyline involving the Last Engineer and the Maste Renegade. humans from the distant past who helped to create the robots and Gobotron.
I was into both.

thank god transformers took off more than gobots, the gobots looks creepy
Any gobots fans out there?
Twitter which has 2 gobots fan accounts:
2:42does he even see Autobots flying?
Any proven plagiarism case ?
It Warner Bros Vs Hanna Barbera, Transformers Vs Honors, Buggs Bunny Vs Woody Woodpecker Etc. Why you have to choose. Like them like both.
I know GoBots but I prefer Transformers because of the characters and their design.
What do you see the difference of this name
Gobotron cybertron
Their's just same tron
I can say that if you still have these toys from the 80s, you'd probably get a lot of money 💰 from them on eBay if that's what you choose to do. The 80s rocked! No other decade in terms of toys could ever measure up!
Gobots vs transformers¡¡
I liked them both but really come on, there's no contest here..
Transformers wins easily
Transformers superior,go bots inferior
the transformers could easilly beat the go bots because almost every version of cy kill was killed by megatron or someone weaker
Optimus Prime can go solo destroying all the Gobots he can destroy all of them even if they are good or evil
no way, transformers comics show the transformers winning. im shocked 💀
PS. Diaclone & MicroChange pre-dates Machine Robo, yet the GoBots concept pre-dates the Transformers concept... so they BOTH came first! Kind of....
Optimus Prime=Goku
Leader-1=Yamcha
Megatron=Vegeta
CY-Kill=Lord Pilaff
Transformers win hands down
The Transformers TV series started in 1984, but the toys that it was developed from, were released in 1980.
In every way, Gobots were only ever a poor quality imitation
It was 1982…
Optimus prime ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥🩷🩷🩷🔥🔥🔥🔥⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️🔥🔥🔥⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
I prefer Transformers because they're way cooler
Me too Gobots is trash and weak
What song is this tho?
Nosakhere Beecham tron

Don't forget one Gobot who turned into an A-10 and was named Bad Boy.
cya kill was very creative though. He's a killer Cyborg.
names like "megatron" were initially objected to, because it sounded "too scary." its also a reuse of a previous marvel character's name.

To the question are dare gobot fans no
I FIRSTLY LIKE GOBOTS AND THEN LIKE TRANSFORMERS. GOBOTS IS EARLIER THAN TRANSFORMERS BUT TRANSFORMERS IS BETTER THAN GOBOTS
❤️❤️❤️❤️🇪🇬🇪🇬🇪🇬
i hate the gobots
Me too transformers g1 is done by Toei Animation and makes this so cool with the movie too and Gobots is done by Hanna Barbera and makes no other series of it

The original Challenge of the Gobots series and the Transformers: Beast War :D
Lilz.MonkeyBoy but transformers was already on its way to hit tv. Its just gobots beat theme to it
I believe Tonka got wiff of Transformers so they rushed Gobots but i dunno
Optimus attack
Transformers models for a bunch you love came out in like 1982 Optimus, Soundwave ALL OF THE FIRST YEAR came from Japan from like 1982 Gobots came after lol

Bumblebee was made for poor families
Look up the gobots movie rock wars.
Transforming rocks.
Gobots were terrible. Hated their cartoon as a kid.
I am a robot fab.

Gobots Japanese continuity was so much better with machine robo revenge of chronos machine robo battlehackers and machine robo rescue force
Go bots🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮💩💩
Go bots the transformers rip off
The Gobot toys imo were better. They had more unique robots and there sizes were more consistent than transformers.
Ok and? Transformers had more complex transformations and were made of Diecast not cheap easy breakable plastic most of the time lol do you not like challenges they all looked like shit one was just his plane mode standing up with a folded down front and folded wings and Gobots are still better?
Also most Gobots had shit names
Welp we cant say the same for the designs
@@GiantessLover427for the 1st few years anyway.
G1 ditched diecast around 1986 I think.
