So, I think it went like this. The first season was the only, second was announced and then had it's budget cut part way through, three and four were announced and then three was taken off air halfway through, then they bought it back on air, and accelerated season 4 (one month after season three ended) and finally, gave season 4 another budget cut. F*** It was hell trying to keep up with it at the time. But the music stayed strong.
They were screwed over worse than that
for all the shits the creators behind the series went through, the music, the animation, the complex villain, korra's growth, this is masterpiece.

I actually really enjoyed korra. I didn't really have any problems with it and the only time I didn't really care for what was going on was the 1st half of season 2

Personally, I liked legend of korra as I got older. When I was a kid, I did not understand her struggles and just judged it negatively. Now, I appreciate it much more. Also, try to go in with an open mind, if you think it is going to be exactly like ATLA, you are not going to enjoy it as much. Both series have their pros and cons but overall it is great watch.
Well technically aangs story would be ancient history to them seeing as this takes place 70 years after the events of the last Airbender

Korra has O-K writing but really good villains. Season 3 is on par with ATLA.

if they had let the creators write and prepare for four seasons it would have been way more epic. sadly they boxed them in to one season only and fucked them on season 4 😭

Some people don’t like Legend of Korra because it isn’t The Last Airbender, but it really is a great story throughout it all. I hope you two love it like I do.
Just a headsup, when Jinora asks Katara the story about Zuko's mom, the comics for that hadn't yet been written or published yet.
So when Korra first premiered, everybody was basically annoyed when Ikki cock-blocked us from that story. XD
If you are getting into the comics, as some of your followers might be suggesting to you, the order of the comics that takes place directly after A:TLA is; The Promise, The Search, The Rift Smoke & Shadow, North & South, and the recently published Imbalance comics.
I think you will enjoy. Korra was ahead of her time and many ppl watched it when they were younger. It tackles a lot of more mature themes while expanding the lore incredibly
I believe that they should continue to react to the series even if the comments are varied.
The series didn't liked many fans but it has very cool and exciting moments!

This is gonna be controversial but I actually love this show more than Avatar.
As much as I love Aang and his story I felt more connected to Korra and she is now one of my favorite female protagonists in any form of media. Literally the first thing we hear her say is “I’m the Avatar now, you gotta deal with it!” She is almost like a fusion of Goku, Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn, and Ahsoka, Rey and Luke from Star Wars. Starting off as a talented, confident but naive girl wanting to run into danger and stop the villains by fighting them head on, then learning from her mistakes and growing from a girl to a woman.
And the bold step of takings the setting of the show from ancient Asian times to something like the early 40’s. What other shows would take that much of a risk?!?!
I totally feel that, this hits different and so does ATLA

Straight up, seasons 1 and 3 are incredible. Season 2 had extreme highs and extreme lows. Season 4 was pretty good. An overall good series, but not on the same level as ATLA. I'll be very interested to see what you guys think about it
Season 1 started great but then falls apart a bit midway thru. Season 3 is great but they made the villains way too OP just for awe factor when they should've instead just developed the characters better (Zaheer was perfect tho). Season 2 has highs and lows as you mentioned, though more lows if we're being honest. And S4 was good but clearly rushed, since it was in fact actually rushed.
@@larryvos4377 I agree with what you have to say for seasons 2 and 4, but i really enjoyed all of seasons 1 and 3. Obviously nothing on par with ATLA, but still really good.

I've always loved how futuristic this is because it's similar to our world, it wasn't long till we had cars and planes. Plus the fire nation was already more advanced than other nations so it's only natural for them to industrialize quickly.
Atla resembles an early 1800's world, while Korra resembles an early 1900's world

The setting was actually the best part of legend of Korra for me. If Avatar was the 1850s basically, Korra Is the early 1920's and It's just fantastic the way they realized it through the animation.

Here's a spoiler-free explanation of why TLoK got such mixed reactions from the fanbase:
The plot/characters are simply not as tightly written as in ATLA, but it's not really the fault of the writers. Originally, Nickelodeon only gave the showrunners a *single* season to start off with; as a result, all the plot and character development wraps up pretty neatly at the end.
So then Nickelodeon gave them a *second* season. This put the writers in the position of having to scramble to "roll back" a lot of character developments and it was pretty jarring when compared against the unassailable near-perfection of ATLA pacing. At the end, they wrap up this new "final" season, and everything is fine.
Then Nickelodeon gives them two *more* seasons, so they have to have to scramble *again*. Thankfully, these final two seasons are closer to the original, since they actually got them both at once.
Nickelodeon tried to fuck them over again, though, since they switched the show to streaming-only *mid-season*, without telling anyone in advance.
Legend of Korea has 4 seasons. Honestly it’s an epic show, good moments and fights, beautiful animation, lots of new discoveries regarding the history of the avatar. The way the show suffers is that some of the writing or direction the story takes concerning characters and their relationships goes off the wall and becomes tedious to sit through lol. But over all if we compared it to TLAB Korra is almost as good. So yea get excited 😊

Believe one thing; this is way better than the movie.
One of the reasons I gravitate more to ATLA is that there is much more of a cohesive story. I definitely enjoy LoK, not only because of the nostalgia brought back from Avatar, but also because of the moments they made from new characters. However, for me Avatar will always be just a step higher because the character development is second to none.

Yesss. Not gonna lie, i like LoK better than ATLA but I'm a rare breed. I always found Korra to be more relatable than Aang. The pacing is a little weird for the first 2 seasons because there was some issues with the Nickelodeon but 3 and 4 flow well. A lot of people who don't like LoK don't want LoK, they want ATLA2, but they're two completely different shows. That's like expecting a show based in the 1970s to be like a show based in the 2020s. The world has changed, the people are different, the avatar is different.

Korra is better than ATLA. The main reason people complaint is from s2 (definitely the weakest season), and the very least ep.

Yes. I’ve noticed certain reactors are more loose getting into Korra after waiting for some time. The problem with starting “right away” after Atla is having to adjust to all these changes. I can attest!

i’m excited that you guys are starting LOK, i think that you guys will really like this show it’s different from ATLA but it’s a good type of a different and darker compared to ATLA as well. keep in mind that the writers couldn’t do everything they wanted because of nickelodeon but the show was great imo, i never gave it a chance when it first came out but when netflix added it i decided to just do it and i absolutely love the show. i know you guys might get frustrated with her a few times but i think y’all will end up really loving her especially because she grows as a character.
Even from the first episode of LoK, it's clear that Korra is almost the polar opposite of Aang. She's all physicality, aggressiveness, and brute force -- mastering all of the more "grounded" elements off the bat -- with zero grasp of the spiritual side of being an Avatar, whereas Aang was driven by spirituality and pacificism and shied away from physical confrontation whenever possible. I'll never understand why Korra, as a character, gets the hate that she does considering just how complex her characterization is and how thoughtfully it's executed over time (especially knowing all of the behind-the-scenes obstacles the production team faced with LoK and still managed to push through).
That said, I hope you're both able to formulate your own opinions on the show separate from what everyone in the comment section (myself included) is telling you to think about things. LoK was such a great watch for me, and I hope you both enjoy it all the same! Super excited for these reactions!!!
I think korras lack of spiritual connection is caused by the white lotus. She didn’t get to go on a avatar journey unlike her past lives. This made it so she didn’t travel and gain those experiences from learning bending in the other nations. It’s like you can learn another language without going to that country, but you don’t get the experiences and connection that you would get from going to that country
later in the show you'll meet a character named varrick who people suspect is the son of sokka and suki!!
No Spoilers. Just so you know, Aaron Ehasz, the guy who wrote The Last Airbender wasn't rehired to write this show. The creators Micheal and Bryan, had a falling out with Aaron because Aaron shot down a lot of the ideas they wanted to put into Aangs story, so they didn't hire Aaron back and put all those shot down ideas into this show. It's a great show when you understand why it's so differant
And people are mad because apparently its such a Big time jump about the technology and the industrial era of korra but my mom was born in 1974 and internet wasn't even a thing back then and now only 4 decades later we have some of the most advanced technology in the world
It's a lot more mature and complex than Atla, atleast in the themes it uses. Im sure you'd love it, usually ppl who hate this sequel is the one who keep comparing it to the original, where in reality, they are two different stories. Enjoy the ride!
I never get why people thought the show was too futuristic. They already had some “advanced” technology in ATLA. Look at the difference between 1930 and 1880 in our world with no superpowers. Now imagine how fast a world where a single human could manipulate fire, lightning, metal, water and the earth with a flick of the wrist.
IMPORTANT: you should know that production of Korra was only cleared one season at a time, which is why each season seems to wrap up so neatly. The writers were not able to create multi-season plots, or think about a larger picture
Wrong. Book 2 was written with Books 3 and 4 in mind.
@@vetarlittorf1807 also wrong. They thought they had to end the show AGAIN in season 2. But they were smart and left it kind of open ended. And then they were cleared for two more seasons.

I never thought LOK was as good as LAB but _having said that_ it was worth watching. I don't periodically rewatch the entire series like I do with ATLAB but, its good.

Meanwhile TLOK spends this time playing jokes on the audience and setting up stuff that will never pay off.

Don't listen to the haters. It might have a few faults here and there but alot of the problems it faced were because nickelodeon were jerking the creators around every season and they didn't have lots of stability. In the end korra is my favorite avatar. And its still a wonderful show
People who say to not react to Korra don't even have passed the 1st season. The character development of Korra is probably even better than Aang.
