You are correct. I was raised a Catholic and attended a public school. Between the ages of six and thirteen, my parents sent me to Catechism at a Catholic school in addition to attending my public school. And no one had a problem with it.

This really bothers me. Of course, students should learn to respect each other's religions and religious differences, but why are public schools trying to represent one avenue of faith more than others? Yes, America was/is predominantly made up of Christians, but does that students/teachers/school workers of other faiths must also uphold these tenets? Do their faiths suddenly become "less than" in the eyes of their education system? Schools should definitely teach about each religion, but they shouldn't be promoted and implemented into school protocol like LA is suggesting. And there are those who are not religious. Public schools are supposed to be teaching students academic and critical thinking skills so they can succeed in the future. If you want to learn about religious works/readings, that is what Bible study and after-school programs are for. This makes me worry even more, after hearing that the far-right wants to demolish the public education system. Education should be a right for all young students, especially those from lower-income backgrounds. Biden really needs to make education a priority in his agenda.

The Old Testament also copied those with ''convenient modifications'', but it remains that the Old Testament is a direct translation of the Jewish Torah. I'm not religious at all... How is posting the 10 Commandments on a wall "forcing" ppl to do anything? It is instilling good practices and behaviors in kids but at the end of the day, nobody is forced to do anything! We have to watch how we word things... There's ppl who take things like that and run with them as facts! Posting the 10 Commandments on the wall isn't forcing you to do anything as much as a school dance being posted or broadcasted on the intercom isn't forcing you to go!

This really bothers me. Of course, students should learn to respect each other's religions and religious differences, but why are public schools trying to represent one avenue of faith more than others? Yes, America was/is predominantly made up of Christians, but does that students/teachers/school workers of other faiths must also uphold these tenets? Do their faiths suddenly become "less than" in the eyes of their education system? Schools should definitely teach about each religion, but they shouldn't be promoted and implemented into school protocol like LA is suggesting. And there are those who are not religious. Public schools are supposed to be teaching students academic and critical thinking skills so they can succeed in the future. If you want to learn about religious works/readings, that is what Bible study and after-school programs are for. This makes me worry even more, after hearing that the far-right wants to demolish the public education system. Education should be a right for all young students, especially those from lower-income backgrounds. Biden really needs to make education a priority in his agenda.

Hey dummy, there's a big difference between an elective and a mandate. Your child isn't being FORCED to sex education, especially a 3-8yr old. However, this is a law FORCING teachers/students to be subjected to reading the document. Personally, I could care less if a teacher PERSONALLY CHOOSES to put it up in their class as a display WITHOUT the students having to be forced to read it. Making it a law is just idiotic.

I don't know what's so confusing. Christians had demonized other religions, people who don't believe what they believe, and have killed harass and shut up many marginalized people over the past few centuries. The pride flag is showing solidarity with a marginalized group that happened to be one of the groups Christians demonized. There are no Christian marginalized group, It's the major religion in the country lol having a pride flag is not equivalent to advertising our religion I don't know why that has to be explained lol
