A Versatile Plywood and Lumber Storage Cart: Easy to Build and Versatile! (

- I decided to build a rolling plywood and wood storage cart so it can be moved around in the shop if needed. I wanted to build it with material I had on hand, if possible, with the exception of the casters which I ordered from Amazon. There is a link to them below. Also, I wanted it to be simple to build and easily adapted for changing needs.

Nice job. Now if you could just find a way to make sure that the piece you want/need is always visible and accessible, you'd be a millionaire! ;)
Thanks, D.A. That’s why I loaded the largest pieces first, followed by smaller pieces. It give me the best chance of finding what I’m looking for.
This took me three hours to put together using scrap lumber! Thank you!
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching!
Very nice. It turned out heavier than I expected when loaded. Also you have ALLOT of scrap sheet board. Great video. Thanks.
Hi Marty! Yes, it was heavier than I expected when loaded. And yes, I do but now that I can easily find pieces I’m looking for I’ve already used some of it, so it’s getting lighter as time goes on. I doubt I’ll ever have it that full again. Thanks for watching!
I’m inspired to replicate this project for my shop as well. Great job. I should’ve gone ahead and made one a long time ago.
Thanks! I wish I had made mine soon as well. Good luck with yours!
As always Martin, well thought out, well designed, well documented and very well built !! It was even narrated well....but of course we never expect less than perfect when it comes to your presentation.
Ah shucks, Wendell! Thank you for the kind words, my friend!
Cool Idea. Thanks
Great idea Martin. Must feel good to have those boards a little more organized now. Good stuff!
Hi Gord! Yes, indeed and with them so handy, I’ve already used a good bit of the lumber on project because it was so easy to find the right piece for the job. Thanks for watching!
How's she goin'? Nicely done Martin!!! This is a great storage rack for sheet goods. And I really like how versatile it can be for storing materials. And it's nice that you used materials you had on hand to make it. I'm drooling when I see all the wall space now too. Nice job and thanks for sharing your ideas!!! Take care!!!
Thanks, Mike! Yep, I was glad I could make it from stuff I had on hand, except for the casters. Very glad to have that wall freed up too! But it won’t stay blank for long! Thanks for watching!
That's really cool, Martin. Now that Fall is almost here and the rainy days are coming back to WA I'm going to move my implements back to inside the shop. I'm going to create a few dollies based on your specs for other dollies you've made. I don't have a need for a cart like this one, but we really enjoyed watching your video as a family (as usual!). Thanks for sharing again!
Thanks, David! You’ll love having your implements on dollies. It’s so nice to be able to just roll them up to the tractor and hook up, especially with the Pat’s Easy Change system. Glad to know that watching my videos is a family activity! Thanks for watching!
Nice work as always. You are a perfectionist. Nothing wrong with that. 👍
Thank you, Dan!
Nice work Martin! Looks like the glass racks I use to build. Have a good weekend! See ya!
Hi John! Thanks! I have really loved having the lumber cart. It has made picking out just the right piece of panel so much easier. Thanks for watching!
I just finished building this wood cart. It is great! Thanks for th video.
Ready for some more tractor mods! Really enjoy your videos.
Hi Howard! Glad to know you enjoy my videos. I have some more tractor mods in mind. Are there any particular mods you’re interested in? Thanks for watching!
@@DIYMyWay Third function on the front for a grapple. I’ve been thinking about this for my Kubota.
I’m considering a grapple too, so you may get your wish.
Good idea! I am working in my wood workshop in the back, starting to organize a bit. I haven't unpacked the boxes since we moved in a year ago!!! That is one thing I plan on making. Maybe just one side of this cart in my case. Thanks!
Thanks, Joe! I really love my plywoood and lumber cart! So glad I built. Can’t wait to see what you come up with. Thanks for watching!
Very nice and simple concept. Thanks and “Good Job”
Thank you, Jim!
I need a 60 x 100 pole barn two feet high so I have plenty of floor space to throw stuff😀
LOL! Yes, you’d have plenty of floor space, but I’d worry about the headroom! Thanks for watching!
Nice build Martin. That's going to come in handy. Later
Thanks, Mech! It already is coming in handy!
Good evening Martin. Your channel was brought up at work today when someone mentioned that they referenced your bh77 backhoe dolly. I have the same dewalt saw its a very nice machine. Very nice on this A frame build. I greatly admire your thinking and ability to put it to work!
Hi Richie! Wow, hard to imagine my channel being brought up at anybody’s work place, but that great to hear! Yes, I’ve had that saw for many years and it just been awesome. Thank you for the kind words! Much appreciated!
Nice one, Martin! Looks great and will be super handy for you I know.
Thanks! It already has been really handy. Thanks for watching!
As always great idea. Very nice video.
Thanks, Jimmy!
Great video and resourceful content!
Thank you, Sonia!
I love a man who takes pride in his projects and wants to build them to millimetre precision, as we say in the UK. I am exactly the same too. This is a great tool to have. I was actually going to make something similar, but not mobile, for my plywood outside and using pallet top panels for the vertical part and pallets for the base. The plywood is only old battered stuff I pick up from building sites, that I would use for jobs where it would only get battered more or for projects that aren't important to look good and when they get too badly beaten up or start rotting, they get used for firewood in our home. I first looked at your PTO maintenance video, as i needed to remind myself how you take them apart, but then I saw this video and needed to watch it too. My name is Martin as well. 😁
Hello Martin! Always a pleasure to meet another me! 😄 Thank you for the kind words. Yeah, I can see where it would be pretty easy and fast to make a plywood storage rack or cart out of pallets. Good idea! Thanks for watching!
Great build, Martin. Heaving the loaded cart makes for a good workout, doesn't it? Enjoyed a full-watch. Imagine carrying piece-by-piece around to your work area. The cart makes for a tireless task but you do now have a nicely cooled work area. You're definitely customizing your work area into a precisioned workshop. Have a fine week, my friend. 👍🏽🙂 Don
Thank you, Don! Usually, I build my wood project right in front of the cart and wood rack, so the cart won’t be moved often. It’s more about being able to find the piece I’m looking for and the cart will make that much easier. Hope you have an excellent week too!
Absolutely great build Martin. Your solution puts everything at your fingertips and keeps it mobile while maintaining a small footprint, not easy to do with sheet goods. Great solution. I love it. Well done. !!
Thank you, Paul! I really appreciate your encouraging words!
i have a similar problem of lots of plywoood scraps and no good way to store them
some good ideas here
Thanks! Perhaps you should build your own version. It will free up a lot of space and you can actually find what you’re looking for.
Very nice Martin. You should have your own t.v. show. You would be as wildly popular as This Old House. "But wait! There's More", Lol. Full watch and a big thumbs up Martin.
Hi Gary! Thank you, kind sir!
Nice work, you’ve raised the bar again.
Thank you, Sun Jay!
That plywood rack came out very well. Great organization
Thank you, Bob!
Looks to be a very handy item and fairly easy to build. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching, Matthew!
Enjoyed this build Martin. I am always impressed with your attention to detail and how meticulous you are. You'll enjoy that cart and the additional space it creates for years to come. Good day sir, 👍 Michael
Thank you, Michael! Much appreciated!
Martin you okay? Miss seeing your videos.
Hi Howard! I’m fine and I appreciate your concern! Just taking a break. There are more videos coming.
Well done Martin!
Looks like you may need a second cart now this one is almost filled.
You made need motorized wheels...w/remote?
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, Kenny! Nah, I won’t need a 2nd one, but I may need those motorized wheels! LOL! Thanks for watching!
Nice build. Have u thought about adding fixed wheels to the center. This is typically done on large toolboxes and makes it easier to move with the load spread out amongst 6 wheels.
Thanks! If I added center casters, they’d be swivel casters too so it can move in any direction. Thanks for watching!
👍👍👍🔨
Good evening Sir 😉👍 You are using greatly your working space inside your GREAT garage Sir 👍😉 Did the price of lumber start to drops ? 😏 Great graphic design Sir 👍🧐 You did an OUTSTANDING Lumber Storage Cart mon ami 👌😉👍💪 Have a great week Sir CHeers 😉👌🍻
Bonsoir Dave! Merci mon ami! Lumber prices have started coming down, but I’ve had most of this wood since well before the prices started skyrocketing. Cheers!
@@DIYMyWay Good morning Sir, I forgot to mention that every things that you are building is always OUTSTANDINGLY very well Engineer and very well taught of mon ami I,m very happy that you save money not getting to these 3 or 4 lumber cie making them self ritcher,,, 😉👌🍻👍
Merci beaucoup Dave!
Martin. Do you think a Country pride grappler is worth the money. Thank you
Hi Richard! I’ve never heard of the Country Pride brand and couldn’t find it in a Google search. Did you mean Land Pride, which makes grapples? There is also County Line sold by Tractor Supply, but the don’t offer a grapple.
@@DIYMyWay yes sir I meant land pride. Sorry.
I have a Land Pride SGC0660 grapple on my Kubota L3301. It's always on my tractor I use it alot more than the bucket. To me it was money well spent.
Thanks for answering Richard’s question, Frank! Land Pride makes good implements so it stands to reason their grapples would good too.
@@DIYMyWay You're welcome Martin. Love your videos on mods for the tractor. I followed the one for the light install with adding a relay and fuse box works great. Since the L models don't come with a rubber floor mat I took off the floor plates and the cover in the middle. Prepped it and sprayed them with pickup truck bed spray on liner. Not sure if you have already done this but with the backhoe off the tractor check to make sure the hydraulic lines are tight on the backhoe. On my backhoe the the right swing cylinder hydraulic line loosened up and poured out about a gallon of fluid before I noticed it. Thought there was a major problem until I saw what it was. Have a good day, looking forward to the next video
