I absolutely respect the Black small business owners, who do not put a "Black Owned" sign on their windows. It shows solidarity with all of the small business owners in the area. Also, that sign didn't help the good people in the prior LA riots.
Move to Marin, The Peninsula, or Lafayette, Moraga, or Orinda! All these communities would welcome a great Dominican restaurant with open arms!
Businesses need to understand that Oakland needs a new Charles Bronson. Begging for police won't do them any good.

Dude I feel you but leave Oakland. There are so many other cities where the rule of law still applies. There gonna keep coming back and stealing from you because the DA won’t keep them prison. And my question to Mr. German how many times is it gonna take for reality to set it. How many times does your business need to get robbed before you realize a business in Oakland is a lost cause. How many 5 10 20 times.

And as for banning Oakland, Oakland can do whatever the hell it wants.
I used to live in Oakland. Great city actually. But after one single theft of a neighbor’s home, that couple got PTSD and sold for a loss and moved out. They were white, lesbian couple and if that combination of liberal can’t handle Oakland, then no one can. That couple invested in Oakland because they thought their investment would appreciate through gentrification. The problem is that the process didn’t take 5-10 years like they projected, but more like 20+ years. And once Covid hit, it will likely never happen.
The problem with this restaurant owner and other business owners in Oakland is that they believe if they hold out longer, it will improve. What have they seen in the past 20 years in Oakland that makes them think Oakland is on the up? The Raiders? The As? Hegenberger? Chinatown? These business owners are DELUSIONAL.
In the equity markets as in real estate, most Americans are biased and believe the following: what goes up must come down and vice versa.
In actuality, you will be a much more successful investor if you believe like I do: what goes down must go……down. Before you buy a stock or start a business in Oakland, CONFIRM THE BOTTOM. Oakland has yet to bottom.

Oakland has a long history of being victimized. It was once the place where the people who served the wealthy SF folks lived, across the SF bay.
And now that SF is too small to contain the new wealth, they want to supplant native Oaklanders and push them out. The irony!
But the problem goes back to my original post regarding the business owners in Oakland who have been victimized by burglars. In my opinion, the lowest person is someone who plays the victim. It’s lazy, it’s condescending, it’s un-American.
Stop playing the victim and do something about it. The first thing you can do is to take your intellect, your entrepreneurial spirit, your risk-taking resolve OUT of Oakland. Stop whining.
