  • 🔥There Will Never Be Another Shohei Ohtani
⚾️In a shocking move, Shohei Ohtani signed a record-breaking $700 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers in December 2023, surpassing all expectations. Previously, it was believed he would receive around $500 million. This contract, averaging $70 million per season, raises questions about its impact on the Dodgers' future payroll. However, considering Ohtani's dual role as a premier hitter and frontline starting pitcher, the investment may be justified.
Ohtani, often compared to Babe Ruth, has lived up to this comparison, excelling as both a hitter and a pitcher. His accomplishments include being a three-time All-Star, former Rookie of the Year, and a two-time MVP, both unanimous. His performance as a two-way player is unprecedented, with impressive offensive and pitching stats. Notably, Ohtani's speed and base-running skills add to his versatility on the field.
Raised in Japan, Ohtani's journey to the MLB was unconventional. Unlike American prospects, he patiently waited his turn to showcase his talents, demonstrating a deep love for the game. Despite earning a lucrative contract, Ohtani remains focused on playing baseball for the love of the sport. His humbleness is evident in his acceptance of a modest $2 million salary for the next ten years, showing his dedication to the game over financial gain.
Ohtani's trajectory suggests he is on track to surpass Ruth and become the greatest baseball player of all time. With his continued improvement and potential to contribute in new ways, such as playing the outfield, Ohtani's impact on the game is far-reaching. While his $700 million contract may seem steep, Ohtani's performance and potential suggest he may be worth every penny. Will Ohtani lead the Dodgers to multiple World Series titles? Only time will tell, but if his past performance is any indication, Ohtani is poised for greatness.

I don’t think he thought about deferring the money to avoid the tax first. He mentioned he thought about how he could help out the team as a player in order for the Dodgers to have payroll flexibility to continue building a winning team. He was impressed how the dodgers officials run the team and included an option for him to opt out if owner Mark Walter or president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman leave the organization in the contract.
He tried to defer his entire contract but his agent stopped and said he can’t play baseball for free.

I’m pretty sure after all that has come out his 1000 allowance per month in Japan
Mizuhara stealing 16 million without Ohtani knowing
His looking to take no salary to win
The guy does not care much about money

@@slamjo10 was that before or after he got married?
I argued Ohtani needs to grow up he isn’t that 16 year old who gave his 2 million a year salary to his mommy and then she gave him a 1000 a month allowance (which he didn’t spend it all)
Where I expected his wife and or parents to show up instead
Now I see the wife at the games. Which you never really saw her there before Mizuhara

@@slamjo10 yeah he just got married. I think his spending will change since he has family now. But he also donates a lot of money to the children in Japan. The donations to the foreign organizations are not deductible in the U.S.

Having watched every Ohtani at-bat for the 2021/2022 seasons, when they announced that the shift would be eliminated starting in 2023 it was obvious to me that this would allow Ohtani to hit for a much higher average as the shift had taken away so many of his hard hit balls to right field that would otherwise have gotten through. Regarding his contract, there are 2 aspects that don't receive nearly enough acknowledgement; With monetary devaluation due to inflation, by the time Ohtani is paid out (20 years from now) the real cost will be well under 500 million in today's dollars. Secondly, Ohtani is playing for the Dodgers not just for free, but at a net monetary gain for the club - over the next 10 years he will generate more extra revenue for the organization from Japanese broadcast rights, in-game advertising and merchandising than they are paying him - this has already been demonstrated in a recent study by a Japanese economist.

This video was a good summary about Ohtani primarily to the people who hadn't known about him much. However, when the video starts to talk about Ohtani's hitting (from around 6'30"), the visual images shown are his pitching. Vastly confusing and annoying, and I stopped watching there.

Ohhh well I was just about to scribe to your channel when you opened your mouth and said something negative about Othani that doesn't even pertain to him since if you would have done your best research you would have found that Othani had nothing to do with a gambling scandal. It was his interpreter who stole Othani's money from his own account for his personal problems. Oh well I won't be watching your video again!
