Thank you Rich for an excellent tutorial! It has been very useful to understand what can be achieved through multi-bracketing of images on the Theta Z1. It would be really good to see how you improve the image in Lightroom?
I have an online course over at Teachable where I show the edits in Lightroom. Using the Dual Fisheye Plugin and generating HDR DNGs allows a lot of editing room in Lightroom. az-drone.teachable.com/p/beginners-guide-to-the-ricoh-theta-z1
Thanks for this comparison. I have an Insta360 One X and am wondering whether to upgrade to a Theta Z1 as I am disappointed by the performance indoors. The results are not that different to the auto modes on the Z1 here, however, the bracketed example at the end is so much better. I've previously made 360 shots using a DSLR and nodal ninja and having to accept perhaps I'll never get that quality with a one-click 360 camera. The thing in my mind, is that if I have to do 5 bracketed shots, work on these, and maybe de-noise or sharpen the end result, the time taken is not much quicker than sending multiple shots through PTGui from the DSLR.
You have amazing timing! Over the past few weeks I've been working up a new course on using the Theta Z1. I've included using the Dual Fisheye Plugin, and working with the results. The plugin has a HDR_DNG feature where you can select how many brackets you want (3, 5, 7, 9), and when the brackets complete the results are merged into a HDR_DNG. Instead of putting the images together in Lightroom, the HDR_DNG is ready to be worked on. Amazingly enough, that one file that's merged in camera has a huge range for editing! And it doesn't leave you with a lot of noise (I'm not kidding, it's pretty amazing). I think with a bit of a learning curve you can create some presets for starting your HDR_DNG edits it could be quicker than a DSLR. I use a Canon 7D as well with a Nodal Ninja, and yes DSLRs produce the best results for sure. But I think the Z1 could be of use for a mid to higher range tour using the Dual Fisheye plugin.
@@AZ-Drone Thanks Rich, if you ever get a chance, the exact same room done using the One X, Z1 and a DSLR would be a great comparison to see, just how much better the DSLR is or how far you can push the Z1 using the workflow you mention above. I thought your comparisons on the Z1 settings were hugely useful (tried to find your One X vs. Z1 examples on Kuula which was in your other video but could not). Not many 360 camera vs. DSLR examples out there so might get you some traffic.
I am unable to find the settings such as HDR and noise reduction on the Theta app on my iPhone. Do I need to install some plugin to see such settings? I have verified that my firmware is the latest version
Sorry for my delay in response. On the main Theta Screen on your iPhone the bottom middle button is labeled "Shooting". When you switch to that mode you'll see your image area, and below it you'll see EV WB and Option Setting. Tapping on Option Setting will allow you to access HDR, Noise reduction, and a few other options.
Great video, thank you. you've saved me a lot of testing time, and I need to do a property tomorrow. might you have been better setting the iso to a max rather than letting it go too high? your upper limit was 1600
You're right, I could have set the ISO limit lower. The default seems to be 1600 when you first launch the app. So far I've never had the Auto ISO selection go high on me though. I suppose I should try a darker room and see what it can do at 1600 just for an experiment.
It is a unique town for sure. Hiking trails everywhere, a cool downtown area, plenty of recreation. I moved here over a decade ago and I still think this is a unique place!

This is my problem as well, im used to dslr photo quality, all ppl say z1 photo quality is amazing, im like 😖
This type of tutorial with 3K views is 10 times better compared to those with 100K views with jokes and music and all sorts of nonsense
I'm glad the video had some value for you. It's always good to know the content I'm putting out here is helpful to subscribers! Thanks again!

A quick question: you used auto HDR Rendering in JPG - is this mode available when you select Raw and HDR for this settimg?
Unfortunately the mode isn't available when working with RAW images.
@@AZ-Drone thankyou
视频内容非常精彩!我有一点困惑:有人给我转usdt,我有恢复短语。(pride)-(pole)-(obtain)-(together)-(second)-(when)-(future)-(mask)-(review)-(nature)-(potato)-(bulb) 我该如何提取它们呢?
Shot out to Preskit AZ!!! I went to college there, beautiful mountain country.
