Every time I get into my car 2023 WRX with the SPT, I disable the pre-collision braking feature which seems to be tied to a pre-collision throttle management feature. Both features need to be disabled to enjoy the car. When these features are disabled, the power response from the engine is consistent when applying the throttle. This makes driving the car in the lower rpms more engaging because the torque from the engine becomes more predictable and the car becomes way more responsive.

@@naaruto567going into track mode doesn’t disable it either. I thought the engine tuning and lag was unacceptable from the WRX coming from my near 0 lag BMW N20 328i that I use to own. Disabling the eyesight feature fixed my grievance with the WRX immediately. Link to Subaru breaking down the feature: ua-cam.com/video/WrNenLgUH1I/v-deo.html

Way too much hate on the 22. I have always liked WRX’s even the SAAB version. Let’s be honest, no one bought a WRX for it’s looks.
You bought it for what it offered at it price point that was hard to beat. I almost bought an STI back in 2017 but bought a Tacoma. Now I have sold the Tacoma for a 22 GT, and I love the car! Such and enjoyable car to drive. I would love a bit more HP. Should have had 300 HP, but I am very happy with my purchase. Given the safety feature and what it offer for the money is an impressive car.

Feel totally different about the "thrumming", I'd describe it like a warm grumbling. Have about 1200 miles on mine now, was strange at first but appreciate it a lot. It's only within 1500 - 1800rpm like he said, so when you accelerate from a stop or slow cruising it feels nice to pass through that zone and feel your engine resonate laterally. It's almost like having a periodic, meaty exhaust note and feel but without being obnoxious 100% of the time. Personally I love it, you actually can feel the boxer engine, especially on a cold start.

Manual handbrake, easy access for regular maintenance. Under 31K OTD is as bargain for a 4 door all wheel drive, turbo charged, 5th generation car made in Japan. I have about 1700 miles on my 2022 WRX GT and this is a very accurate review. There is an “Individual” drive mode that let’s the driver pick the individual settings. To get around that low end drone, use individual, pick all the comfort settings, except in power unit use ‘S’ instead of ‘I.’ The I mode moves the RPMs so low, it feels like it’s lugging the engine and begging for a downshift.

When I am free to concentrate on driving I enjoy a manual. Less so when I'm juggling tasks or stuck in traffic. Not at all after rolling for a couple of hours with brutal leg lockers. Having a stick as a daily with a knee injury or an arm in a sling ranges from "this sucks" to "this is impossible."
With so many outstanding DCTs out there (in very fun cars), it's frankly cringe that sub is still all in on their CVT in the WRX at this point.

Own one. It's fantastic. Few things...he calls the cladding "black", it's grey. Cameras & lighting can make it look black. Trust me. Also, Brembo brakes? I've had them. They look great. They would give this car more visual street cred. But in daily driving, absolutely don't need them, and won't feel a difference. So ignore that. And the exhaust...mine had it, first day, idling in the garage it sounded like a subwoofer rumble. It went away after a couple days. I haven't heard anyone talk about it lasting.

The mention of the exhaust around the 10:30 mark was true for 2021 model and I notice it in my 2022 model as well. It has a very deep reverberating base at low RPM's that is definitely headache inducing. Not too bad in the car, but if you're standing behind the car while it's idle, it's almost unbearable.
Funny enough, doing a muffler delete on my 2021 it got rid of that ridiculous base and while the exhaust was louder on revs, it wasn't uncomfortable at low rpm's and idle

As a 2022 WRX owner, I have watched all the reviews of the car that I can find. I have no idea what he's talking about when he says "headache inducing thrum". I love the stock exhaust. Cold starts are great. A nice muted deep boxer burble. Sounds great. Sadly, once the engine warms up and drops from about 1500rpm to just under 1000...it's totally quiet. But I think the engine and exhaust sounds great. I have the base model, so much less sound damping and such in the car, so I'd venture to guess my is much louder than the GT. Maybe the sound damping in the GT is what is causing the issue the review was talking about. I drove a Limited and a Base (I wanted a manual, so didn't drive the GT). I just couldn't justify the price difference to jump to the Limited. Even the Premium was $5k more and for what? 18" wheels and a tablet screen?

Also, the WRX has user programmable modes - how do those affect the CVT (example, you could have engine in Sport Sharp mode and shocks in Comfort or Normal mode)?

This car needs Brembos, higher res screen, painted cladding and rear bumper like AIG or Grimm Speed cars. The price is to high for what you get…It cost as much as an STI! The car needs tougher clutch forks and a greasable throw out bearing! The frame bushings need to be easier to replace and you shouldn’t have to shift the engine to change the spark plugs. A special kind of stupid made the frame rails to close to the heads. No engine maps or diff control like the STI! A digital dash would be nice like the Honda Civic has! 1500 -1800rpm. ~ Oh heck no!
This is not a cheap car. I could have lived with the plastic body cladding. Could have lived with the massive center stack. I'm not tolerating that garbage sound when I'm driving simply to work or the supermarket. On a cheap little city car like a Chevy Spark, Okay; it would be livable. On something _that_ expensive or even a bit less.... No, just no.
Thank you. Gave this video a thumbs up. Took it off my list of cars I'm seriously considering buying. Don't have to do anymore research into the WRX. I can concentrate on the other models I'm considering. Thanks again.

$40+k for a boy racer that to the average person looks like a sporty four door economy car… and they don’t even offer a hatch? The attraction of the Impreza WRX was CHEAP low key sleeper speed. The difference between this 2022 WRX and let’s say a base Supra or other equivalent has greatly narrowed especially when you consider 2 yr old lease buy back that is a CPO with full warranty and someone else took the depreciation hit from when it was new off the lot.
Subaru either forgot or is purposefully attempting to gouge their original target market for the Impreza WRX

The price of the average, non luxury car in the US is $48,000. The GT trim comes in well below that. The price is fantastic, actually.

Comparing this to a Supra is your first mistake, and think you're missing the point of this car. And price? It goes from like $29 - $42 in like $5K increments, and its 2022...

That thing is god awful ugly, makes the 15+ years look good, to big of a screen in the car, going to be great cause people already don’t pay attention while driving in the first place so that should help 👎🏼, last but not least it’s an automagic, 3/10 Car easily
