The flat screen TV!
@MsMojo you do have a point Also right now in 2024 I’m still waiting for a Jetsons Live Action Movie.
@jonmcinnis1645 I'm surprised they didn't do a live action movie about The Jetsons! The Flintstones got two live action movies!

@@jonmcinnis1645Dude, there’s more than blockbuster movies based in cartoons. The world is moving on. This should stay a cartoon, maybe a reboot, either based on those insane DC comics or their appearance in Jellystone or Harvey Birdman.
Live action will be forever cringe.
People used to be obsessed with the future
Now everyone is obsessed with the past
As the saying goes, "Everything old is new again."
Indeed!
"Online shopping is great and convenient!"
"Blockbuster and Toys R Us are dead ;_;"
Can you blame us though?
In some ways; things were simplier, more flexible and easy to understand in the past
Sort of. Being a teenager in the 70s brought us the TV show “Happy Days” and the movie “Grease”. Lots of people were nostalgic for the 50s then.
While the 60s brought us the space race lots of people were not happy with how the cultural landscape was changing including the idea of allowing civil rights. Plus that young people of the period weren’t happy about being conscripted into foreign wars that made no sense.
One of my favorite Hannah Barbara cartoons
Jane taking George's wallet (driver's license and all) and the willful negligence in "stopping that crazy" thing went unresolved for years until Family Guy cutaways came along.
And it’s no wonder why George snapped and killed Jane.
I was in elementary school when the Jetson's came out in the 1960s. I haven't really seen it since then. I am amazed that they predicted the flat screen tv and the camera that could photograph inside the body. And, I definitely remember the dog and cat on the treadmill!! My dad was an electrical engineer working with computers already at the time. I remember he really liked that show, too.
We're talking computers that were big enough to fill entire rooms. Today's equivalencies are mainframes and servers.
The Jetsons weren't the only ones that had flat screen TVs. I remember an episode of The Twilight Zone where Miss Tyler was running around in the hospital, and this flat screen TV came on with the dictator giving his speech. That episode was "Eye Of The Beholder" in case any of you are wondering.
My Dad used to take us to a neary university in the 1960s to play with the room-sized computer. We would program and print punch cards with flower designs, etc.@@JamesDavy2009
@@melissacooper8724 Yeah, "Back to the Future 2" had them as well.
Heck, "Fahrenheit 451" predicted them (albeit to an excessive degree)!
@@Compucles Back To The Future Part 2 also predicted the format where you can watch several different channels at once.
I'm surpriswd we never got flying cars but things like Zoom calls they hit right on the head
We do have flying cars. They are called helicopters
Actually we do have flying cars similar to the Jetsons, look up Elon Musk SpaceX flying cars.
Still waiting on that and robo doggos
one question on flying cars; can you imagine your mom and grandmom driving a car 800ft up in the air
Sorry, but flying cars aren't happening on a large scale for one simple reason: What happens when your car stalls or runs out of fuel?
That self dressing robot would definitely be helpful for the elderly and the handicapped
Is this because people don't help people anymore. . .
Thank you MsMojo ..... Used to luv the Jetsons! Still waiting for the cleaning, all chores, robot maid 😁
They got washing machine & dryers combos now also
They had those back in the 60s.
I don't think the Jetson's predicted the future but if anything the Jetson's did give ideas for the advancement of technology. Even though it only took roughly about 40 years with Steve Jobs of Apple to lead the way and other electronic manufacturers to follow and to continually to advance. I remember back in the mid 90's when the internet was a huge deal but the only way that anyone could use it was to have a clunky computer setup that took quite a bit of space and not to mention all the wiring that was needed to hook the internet up. About ten years later broadband replaced dial-up and made life much easier rather than hearing "GET OFF THE INTERNET I AM EXPECTING A CALL!" or "I tried calling you numerous times but the line was busy!". Then over time, things that once were big and clunky now fit in the palm of our hands to a point that no matter where we are or what we need, we can do it with just a touch on our phones.
Very good analysis
Apple just popularized or plagiarized tech that already existed. They really didn't invent much.
The first multi touch touchscreen phone was the LG Prada running Android before the iPhone came out.
Siri was Androids Edwin digital assistant until they bought the company that made the software and skinned it.
Tango and Skype were already a thing on Android before FaceTime even existed.
Just some examples.
Which too many forget they can do, and others who do it too much and try to find out things about others that are really none of their business.
The menu one would really be amazing. Especially if you're able to incorporate various foods from around the world. There's a lot of cuisine out there that isn't really accessible to those that either don't live in the originating country, or don't live in a big city. It'd be nice to have options.
It would need customization options for those who want to use or leave out certain ingredients or to use a specific recipe.
The Jetsons shaped my life. I knew all of this was possible. I’m still waiting for more to come.
I have watched every single episode of the Jetsons (as well as the Jetsons Meet the Flintstones and Jetsons the Movie) numerous times; and I can’t believe I never thought about any of this before.
I'm just waiting for The Jetsons Lego Ideas set to go with The Flintstones Lego set.
Thank you for the update, MsMojo..!! Amazing findings.. What wonders me the most is how the 80s' TV series called 'Quantum Leap' had a character named AI who had a smart phone like device with him all the time.
that always seemed to give erroneous answers lol
Wasn't that his link to the AI known as Ziggy? I remember he always had to smack and shake it to get it working properly.
@@cindydott452 Yeah, Ziggy was the guy on the other end, I think?
@@DavidEdwards9801I thought that Ziggy was a computer?
@@cindydott452 Some robot characters from _The Jetsons_ have to hit themselves to fix a problem of theirs; usually a stutter.
The Jetsons really was ahead of its time. I believe the innovators took all kinds of inspiration from this remarkable show!
I’m impressed that the Jetsons predicted most of the technology we have today.
I remember watching the Jetsons when it was around on TV
This video is so cool! Loved it! ❤
Dick Tracy had a communication device on his wrist.
Also Power Rangers and Kim Possible had communicators
@@crazyfrazy74747 Yeah, but they were 20+ years later than the Jetsons. Dick Tracy was 20+ years before the Jetsons.
Exactly. And Star Trek was using flip phones (beam me up, lol).
Fun Fact: other than the default "Roomba", "Rosie" is the most popular name for robot vacuums. Alice, Hazel, Alfred, and Jeeves are also in the top 10.
We named ours Mr. French. I’m sure that’s a popular name as well. If you’re not sure who Mr. French is he was the housekeeper/butler on the popular 60s dramady Family Affair.
@@RJS1974 I know it well. Mr. Belvedere is another popular name. Rosie is on the main floor and Hazel vacuums the upstairs.
Definitely the flying and self driving cars. Have a happy monday night, Rebecca. Take care and God bless you, greetings from Colombia to you as well.
The Jetsons and The Simpsons have predicted the future more times than any other show.
You forgot Futurama, it's the most accurate
South park
The moving walkway is an interesting one.
I remember being on one at an airport.
The Jetsons didn't first suggest the watch idea. That belongs to Dick Tracy.
Jetson you're fired!
You forgot about jet pack. The new jets suits from the company gravity has already set up races for their jets suits.
I loved watching the Jetsons! And as an adult I longed to have my very own Rosie! My parents would even watch this with me.
I’m guessing their reappearance on Jellystone was why they made this video.
Very Nice even the A.I voice, yours is so nice❤😊
I hope Tiffany makes the comeback from the movie.
The Hanna Barbera Classic The Changed Our world better than bloody Shakespear meet George Jetson
It's amazing how many of the things seen in the Jetsons, seemed so cool and futuristic back in the 60s, and even in the 80s, when the series was revamped and had some new episodes added to it . Today many of the things in the video are now commonplace in many homes. However, I'm still waiting for the flying car that turns into a briefcase!
Such a briefcase would be insanely hard to lift.
i have been waiting my whole life for them to do the treadmill shower and dressing thing. since i was a kid ive wanted to just stand up and have a machine shower me like a car wash and then like iron man it dresses me
One thing came to mind when I was watching this video is Terminator.
Thank you for this wonderful video. I hope you are having an enjoyable Sunday. Sheila Mink in New Mexico
I never knew the cartoon show events took place in 2062 lol. it's crazy that kids being born now will be in their late 30s around that time lol.
It's a common narrative trope to have sci-fi media set one century into the future. Fun fact: 2062 is one year after Halley's Comet reaches perihelion next.
Time for The Jetsons live action movie!!!!
The Flintstones live action had amazing details in the early 90s. There’s so much can be done for The Jetsons.
The movie, though, would have to begin with the birth of George in 2022. His parents will be introduced in the hospital room while they watch the news on a flatscreen TV recapping the events of humanity struggles. (Covid Pandemic, inflation, baby formula shortage , climate change). George’s parents speculate about the world they are bringing their baby into and what the world will become for him and his generation .They get a FaceTime call from Montague Jetson. George’s grandfather.
Then, fast forward to 2062 to see the writers predictions of how the world and humanity has (may) change.
I think about that because my little one was born in 2022 ! George’s parents are the representation of today’s parents speculating their children’s adult futures.
There is an episode where they turned common garbage into brand new vehicles. That would definitely reduce landfills!
I thought for sure that the original treadmill for Astro had a fire hydrant on it... I might be thinking of one episode where George takes him for a walk, where the fireplug showed up.
It's funny to see some of these things being used alongside archaic formats like records and punch cards.
At about 3:08, Jane seemed to have paused a live TV show, similar to a DVR.
There was one episode that had 3-D TV.
I named my robot vacuum Rosie! ❤😂
When I watched the Jetsons as a kid I thought for sure that I would have a flying car as an adult. Here I am at 70 yrs old and still no flying car!
5:29 The screen shown here reminds me a lot of the iMac computer monitors from the early 2000's, at least
You know that George Jones & Tammy Wynette song "We're Not the Jet Set"? I honest to goodness thought it was "We're Not the Jetsons"!
My boss kept telling me in the 1989 to 1997 that he was going to replace this worker with a robot. His friends would go on retreats in Key West .
"Jane, we can't afford it!"
You don't have to be a rocket scientist to predict that one.
Very very great list I like it a lot very very great job mis mojo one of my absolute favorite list ever 😊❤
In the 80s, as kids, we joked about the Jetsons never happening.
Here in 2024, it feels like we're a lot closer to the Jetsons happening ahead of schedule. Less than 40 more years to go, and we have almost hit their tech level.
Used to watch the Jetsons all the time! They were great!
Great, even in the future when we will have flying cars, there will still be traffic jams😒
I bet there will be some restrictions on how to drive flying cars on skyroads; speed limits, how high or low you are allowed to fly, no-fly zones...etc
No-fly zones already exist along with limits on how low you are allowed to fly (known in aviation as the minimum safe altitude). Even if you do fly lower, common logic denotes that the absolute lowest limit exists in the form of that thing we call the ground.
Who says The Simpsons were the only ones to predict the future?
To be fair, a lot of historic sources seemed to be in love with predicting the coming of the flat screen. I mean that H.G. Well's Things To Come not only promoted the idea, but that they would potentially be massive in size. Most recent viewing where I saw this prediction was out of a Three Stooges movie. Used as a gag, the Stooges were concealing a functional refrigerator inside a functional television set. The TV screen gave a clear image of a show in progress. Only the screen doubled at the refrigerator door, giving access to the food inside. And this literally shows no bulky tubes or electronics were behind the screen. A literal flat screen TV with seemingly modern designed electronics in use. They also doubled down on the same idea later into the movie when the Martians were doing a Zoom style call to their HQ on a flat screen. There are many other references to be found, as well. Just a bad one comes mind... Star Wars Holiday Special.
My suspicion about this is that back in those days, they had movie projectors. Which would place the image onto a flat, fabric screen. Which just naturally leads the unconscious mind into dreaming that in the future, the image would appear in much the same way via some as-of-yet unknown technology that removes the remote projection device from the works.
Personally, I'm kind of impressed with how The Jetsons very loosely predicted the coming of E-Sports by electronically controlled robots in football. Now had they simplified the control interface and placed it into a virtual place...
The radio drama from the late 1950s/ early 1960s "Now They Are Gone" had Alexa/Siri devises that read to householders; took care of multiple domestic tasks; and monitored home security.
I think that was based on a sad Sci-Fi parable by Ray Bradbury.
@@luisreyes1963 Quite possible. There is a certain irony in that a Dr. Norris Bradbury was director of Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory back then. His wife was a substitute music teacher for our fourth grade class
"The Skyway" is the perfect name for the air traffic "roads."
All of these items were imagined long before the Jetsons
And the #1 of a household robot? Go all the way back to the 1920 play R.U.R
Didn't "Rossum's Universal Robots" actually coin the word "Robot"?
@@cindydott452 yes
The inventions I wouldn’t call them predictions, more like inspirations that came true
Smart watch and video chat.
There’s only one very serendipitous original idea is the peekaboo prober which did happen but, despite now having better technology, it just stayed a curiosity that hasn’t caught on. The rest existed or had been thought of previously or were just futuristic tropes.
Dick Tracy has Jetsons beat when it comes to smartwatches.
In my Opinion: I find the Word "Prediction" to be Somewhat Accurate, but However it's up to Interpretation.
great video
I think Dick Tracy Comic Strip introduced the wrist watch as a communication device in 1946. This could be considered a precursor to The Jetsons' device.
This was a fun video, but the Jetsons totally missed cell phones and home computers.
And Dick Tracy had a smart watch years before the Jetsons did!
Nice video 🥰
I’m remembering an episode where George pushes so many buttons, it injures his fingers…it looks all bent. So….they predict repetitive stress syndrome and carpal tunnel as well.
I love this cartoon so much!
Clearly 10 cases of life imitating art. Many of us who grew up with sci fi (and cartoon sci fi) went on as adults to bring it to life.
I am still waiting for the food-a-rack-a-cycle where you can get a nice hot meal with just a few presses of some buttons!
There was just a pitch on Shark Tank about a device similar to that.
Regarding video calls, don’t forget the foresight they had regarding human nature. There was an episode where Jane got a call in the morning before she had her makeup on, and she hung a sheet over the vid screen.
I am definitely waiting for the fooderackacycle.
My kiddo was born in 2022, just like Gorge 😀
9:07 Self-driving is still dangerous
Yeah I would not get in a self-driving car I would rather walk or get a bike!
Especially when you take in account their vulnerability to hacking.
Call me old fashioned, but the self driving cars are very dangerous. Like any technology, it has defects and breaks down that would put people at risk.
I don’t trust self driving cars.
What I have noticed is more and more of my neighbors have space oriented names. The Orbitz moved in last week, my boss is now Mr. Rocketstein, and my daughter's bff is Cindy Globularcluster. Weird.
my apologies, but i 1st remember seen the "smart watch" in Dick Tracy conic strips before Jetsons telly series
4:16 the main difference is that Siri is not the size as my bedroom.
Food processors aren't necessarily "3D printers", but the idea was first shown on Star Trek the original series in 1966!
I wonder how 3d printed food will affect our bodies. Will it be as good for our bodies?
I am a little scared about fling cars. How high off the ground would the roads for fling cars be? If you get too high off the ground, then the smalls crash or breck down that would be harmless if happened on the ground could be dangerous or deadly if it happened to high up.
The Jetsons had moving sidewalks. In a way we have them now. In some places, like in airports, they have moving sidewalks.
I'm waiting for the moving apartments. If you don't like your neighborhood you can just move up a couple hundred feet 😂
TV shows don't predict the future. They become a roadmap of aspiration.
Marvellous !
The wrist watch radio/video phone was actually created years ago in the Dick Tracy comic strip.
Who had the watch first.
Detective Dick Tracy’s famous watch communicator, which first appeared on his wrist in 1946, was a two-way radio link with police headquarters. It was atom-powered and supremely hi-tech.
The Jetsons, not until 1962
Space mountain at the end of the ride predicted many things too!😎🧬💕🙏
Thanks👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Flying cars … I want flying cars. I walk on the treadmill with my dogs already.
Someone has to put The Jetsons to the CBS Broadcast Archives fandom page when reruns originally aired on Saturday Mornings on the network from September 26, 1964 to September 18, 1965, and again from October 2, 1969 to September 4, 1971.
3D printing of food may be coming, but the Star Trek replicators would be even better and more useful.
The problem with flying cars would be keeping them from getting blown around by variable winds. Again, Star Trek-style transporter tech would probably be more efficient for relatively short distances.
I can hear Dr. McCoy now complaining about getting his atoms scrambled.
“In the future, cars will fly.” (plausible); “In the future, everyone will have a pilot’s license.” (ridiculous)
These r all so cool that have become reality. Robots like Rosie maybe like 20 years from. Give a take. If they become sentient with emotions, it'll b like playstation game of Detroit: Become Human. In the sims game of Makin Magic, there is a skeleton maid name Bonehilda. How about that for a maid?
Forget Apple, what about Google Assistant
I want one of those screens that make me look all put together even if I've just rolled out of bed.
I would say the Jetsons, the cartoon with speed buggy, and knight rider inspired the self driving car
I want my flying car! 😂
Flying car!😂❤🎉
Is what's Funny is That The Jetsons Travel Back in Time and meet The Flintstones, and one of Elroy's Classmates is watching The Flintstones in Class. So is it a T.V. Show, or is it Real? Oh So now your comparing RUDY to Cortana, Siri, Alexa, Google, Chat GPT, and Copilot. Well Copilot knows who I am as a Tuber. In The Jetsons it's Called a VISAPHONE Which Basically Means Visual Telephone, Which is why I call Video Chat VISAPHONE. Still waiting for Automated Sidewalks, Oh wait, They have them in airports.
We named our Roomba “Rosie” because of the Jetsons.
Our Roomba is "named" Rosie.
Mine too! 😂
Peek-a-boo Prober the same as the 1966 movie Fantastic Voyage but without it being manned.
How about the plans to repopulate Mars? Astronauts are planning it so people can live there at some point in the future. Given how some planets had become favorite places to go to in the series and the fact everyone can breathe on those planets must mean something in that!
