I love the fact that you're so different from the mainstream pop music. It's great to hear folk being done. So many bands only prerogative is to be cool with electric guitars and an image - not pure musicianship, so go you! :)
Interested to know how old you were 15 years ago when yr dad got you in to this. My 2 boys, 10 and 6, are, I'm proud to say, fans of Bruce S, Bob D, the Stone Roses, Beatles, Lemon Jelly, Far From Saints and a variety of others, all through my wife and I playing stuff at home and in the car. We're both massive music fans and feel lucky that they're into 'good' stuff (subjectively speaking). Am playing a lot of Seth L at the mo and wondering if they might get into him. Our 10 yo sings in Bristol Cathedral Choir and the 2 choirs at the adjacent primary, plays piano, cornet and bass; his younger brother has started paino and sings in school's RockSteady band, so they're both musically immersed (all my wife's talents there. My talents are largely restricted to the football pitch and the kitchen). As an aside, incongruously, my 6 yo has loved the d&b track, Airtight by Funky Technicians on 33rpm 😂😛🤪 I used to make mixtapes with it on that speed (it's supposed to be 45 rpm, obvs), it has amazing breaks played at both speeds (if you like d&b at 45 rpm, for many others at 33rpm). It just defies logic that since the age of 4 he's repeatedly asked me to put it on the decks (and now he asks to do it himself 😲 BE CAREFUL WITH THE NEEDL- too late. 😄) Unf, you can't find this track on 33rpm, only in its original 45 rpm form. Unless one of you tech-bods can slow down a utube version of d&b (wouldn't put it past you. Gen Zee, maaaan! Sorry, @vayona12, you may well be a Gen Zeer - no offence inteded. I just find it fascinating how kids get in to diff styles of music, diff bands, diff eras, diff 'vibes'. My parents, born in '39 and '29, showed no interest at all in listening to music - the best I got was The Spinners and JImmy Shand, look them up if yr under 50! - and yet here I am, my eldest brother, too, 100% about the music in our lives. Right, now need to line up some LTJ Bukem, Nick Warren, Massive Attack, Spiritualized, Midlake, Sonic Yoof, Teenage Fanclub, Ride, Primal Scream, film soundtracks, Amadou & Mariam, Tinarawen, Horace Andy and the rest!
Another piece of foot tappin spine tingling talented greatness from the man himself!!! Fantastic love the story of the Hurlers too.Cant wait for the album release :) Go Seth we love you !!!!!!!!!!!
Aaaah, I love this song... The album is going to be so atmospheric and epic! I love how the beat of the drum works so well with the images of the turning tide! ...and yeah, he does look good in a shirt!
I'm young and supposed to love pop and modern music, but i actually love this, its so different to what i usually listen to, but i play violin and Seth is my idol. i wish i was as good as him! and his music is just amazing
Very nice. At least he doesn't look as scary as he did when we passed him crossing the millennium bridge from Gateshead to Newcastle last month! ;-) Really looking forward to the new album.
Hi Seth, this is Chris one of the cameramen from the shoot. Hope you like the finished video mate!! I think it's come out really well and Kristin has done a very clever job with the editing. Hope it's what you were hoping it would be, and hope to work with you again.
I'm going to see him at the Minack in May! Woo! It's my second time seeing him and it's also on the last day of my uni exams which will be a nice reward for all that revision :)
Is this song about people being turned into standing stones by an annoyed holy man? Pretty cool, this song could almost be a trad. song, the way it's layed out. I only found this song/Seth Lakeman because I saw him do it on that Glastonbury special. Glad I did though, great stuff!
Magic! Storming song, awesome location! It will definitely be epic.
That place is beautiful!
The drum beat is amazing in this song, reminds me of a tribal sort of thing!
This is fantastic, it's the best song I have heard in past year. At last someone with a true talent and passion for music, not just a commercial sh*t.
