I think the reason she didn't fall is because most people freak when they land off-balance and end up jumping off just so as not to fall at an awkward angle but Shawn just slowed down, and instead of trying to cover up her mistake let it all play out, and just waited until she found her center of balance again. Props for continuing even after what could have been a massive fall.
Yeah, she looked tired, but Shawn on her worst day is better than all the rest. She is my champion

Usually. You first build up a routine, try it out a few times and make necessary adjustments, and then after you're happy with the final result, you keep practicing the same routine until you're ready to use it at big competitions. Obviously if you get bored, or want to show new skills, you can build a whole new routine, but that only happens every few years, as you have to start almost from scratch and get used to the different order and combination of moves.

Comebacks should never be looked at as "sad", it's never about the results, but about the journey. The lessons, maturity and clarity one can gain. What is sad are people who say, it's "sad". I hope you get a chance to not always play it safe and feel what it's like to truly live life without always thinking it's sad when things don't go our way.

Well if I'm not mistaken she was pregnant here and had a miscarriage.. she really did well under the circumstances but she wasn't what everyone was used to watching I've always loved watching her she has the sweetest parents.....

The extra weight in her legs makes a big difference in balance beam (I know) it affects your balance

Her looks fell of as soon as she went into 2012.
Too tentative, self-conscious, robotic and had a defeatist air about it.
I miss the gymnastics of the 90s when things were more artistic and dangerous. This is so robotic, cold and boring.
Watch her Olympic games routines, past world's and narionls as well. One of the best. This was her comeback right before retirement. She was tired, she was done. Also every gymnasts style is very different. Shawn is a powerhouse and her talent is big skills/tumbling. That is where she excels. Now Nastia excels with more artistic dance flair, that's where she excels. The awesome part is, gymnasts are allowed to express their talents in whichever style they choose and they aren't discriminated against by the judges. The judges u understand each gymnast has their own style and they judge them on how well they execute their skills, not on their area of excellence.
