I need more such great tutorials dedicated to Gutenberg, and especially how to create full-width pages with it, for example, a beautiful homepage with Gutenberg only. Thanks for your help! 😇

    Currently I'm an elementor pro user. I generally use hello theme or generatepress premium. However I've been thinking about trying to use Kadence and Gutenberg for my next project.
    Like anything there is a learning curve but I think it's clear that most if not all page builders are living on borrowed time.
    My main reason for looking into it is to try and build faster loading websites with less bloat.

      I don't think that Gutenberg is a viable alternative to page builders right now, but there are certainly times where either using G on it's own with a good theme or at least to manage blog post creation could be a real benefit. Especially from a speed and future proof design point of view.

    • @StevanOvich61
      @StevanOvich61 3 роки тому +1

      @@WPTuts Agreed Paul, but it would be interesting to see if Gutenberg does at some point offer the widgets and functionality of comparable page builders, how bloated it will also become, as others have questioned here.
      I also agree that Gutenberg at this time paired with a decent theme, such as GP, would be a option for a simple no frills website.....

    It seems the two of us set the same end of year goal.
    I do appreciate the work you did identifying those plugins. I found similar ones with Ultimate Addons for Gutenberg and Kadence Blocks for Gutenberg. It does appear there will be a lot of progress trying to make the block editor more user friendly. I find it interesting that some of the same developers who created addons for Elementor and Beaver Builder are now building blocks for Gutenberg.

    • @WPTuts
      @WPTuts  3 роки тому +2

      I think those developers have to build tools for Gutenberg to stay relevant and also have a long term business model. At some point, tools like Elementor will be superseded and the likes of Gutenberg become more mainstream as it is an integral part of WordPress and the WP roadmap.

  • @CyrusLemonius

    I have tried to use Gutenberg over the last 3 days along with plugins such as Getwid, Stackackle and Qubely. If you just want to build for the desktop experience then it's a great experience. Quick and easy. BUT , I always build towards mobile-first (that is the way things are going) and this is where the experience turns sour and I go back to a page builder.
    Gutenberg does not provide a live-preview and selecting the mobile preview option presents a pretty useless output. So you end up having to fire up a separate window to show your live site after you've made guess-timates in the design browser. This slows me down far too much to be usable when I need to fire up new pages quickly.
    Unless I'm missing something, then it's a pass for me for now until they get better at the live-preview for *all devices*

    I think the thing is, these blocks and addons are going to become page builders like DIVI etc slowly, maybe better optimized for speed but the freedom that divi and elementor give, these will take time and we will keep referring back to the giant page builders for a while. And to reach those many features, these blocks will also bloat up at 1 point. So divi and elementor can move to more optimized codes and will be back in picture.

    My concerns are over the ability to use dynamic content and to create responsive sites. Since I'm pretty new to Wordpress I'm not sure if moving to Gutenberg will work. I'm using a theme that gives me social media capabilities and that has enough bloat. So removing bloat is a good idea.
    I did just purchase the Elementor toolkit that is supposed to help with performance and strip out bloat.
    Now, I'm getting concerned about the number of plugins.
