Thank you from Ottawa Canada. Your video is super awesome with lots great details of tips of what my wife and I will be encountering in our upcoming trip to Punta Cana (Bahia Principe Ambar) in Jan 2022!
We was there in August and we are headed back in January. My only complaint was that certain specialty restaurants weren’t open during the week such as the fish market, other than that I absolutely loved it
We loved the Coffee shop the beach house had just opened when we went in December 2019 but the restaurant were not open yet apart from the Brazilian on the ground floor were the lunch time buffet is. Loved our stay so pleased you enjoyed yourselves had to put of our planed 2021 visit not sure when we will be back
@@WherewegoingNext did most of them our fav was meat limbo was good as well good to see it coming back too life going to be UK based holidays for a year or 2 but we will be back had a great time there it was also our honeymoon
@@WherewegoingNext One more question 🥹🥹🙏... can anyone staying at the luxury ambar book at all the restaurants in the bahia principe complex or just at las brisas outside of it?
You only have to wear a mask at the buffet. Masks are no longer mandatory in Dominican, but the hotel has kept them at the buffet to make people feel safe. We toured a swim out room and it was gorgeous - we have a video on our channel if you’d like to see. They are not super private, but who doesn’t want a pool outside their room 🤷🏼♀️
Hi! I have one question. If we are guests in Esmerald , can we use beach area , beach restaurants and pool of Amber ? Oh and coffe shop too😅 Thank You in advance 😊
Yes you can use all the facilities at Ambar, just not the buffet restaurant. The full list of inclusions is on the Bahia Principe Esmeralda website under all-inclusive. 👍🏻
Hi from Ottawa Canada! Recently stumbled upon your videos. They’ve been very informative while we choose which resort to stay at. Based on your experience, do you prefer the Ambar or Aquamarine? There is a decent price difference between the two. We’re just wondering if paying a little more to stay at the Ambar is worth it. Thanks and keep up the good work!
Yes, I would say it is! The resort is newly renovated and is adults-only 👍🏻 the restaurants are also great, plus you have access to all the other resorts - whereas if you stay at aquamarine, you don’t have access to Ambar.
I’m going in my honeymoon this Sunday- Saturday here. We need to get covid tested before we fly back to the USA. They do that on campus at the sports bar? Thank you!
Awesome! Congrats on your marriage! Yes, when we were there, testing took place in the sports bar. If for some reason it’s moved, they’ll tell you at the front desk. Have a great time! ❤️
There’s no real dress code for the restaurants- just no beachwear. I don’t think they have a rule against it, but we’ve never seen anyone topless at this resort - I think it’s frowned upon
Thanks for watching! No, you don’t have to reserve the umbrellas- but people do wake up early and save them by putting their towels on them, even though the hotel discourages it 🫣🤷🏼♀️ happens at all resorts to be honest 🤷🏼♀️ the a la carte restaurants are booked through the app or at the front desk and it’s not hard, but the popular ones book up fast.
Hey! Loved the in-depth info you gave and about to check your hotel tour video as I'm seriously considering the Ambar. I watched your Tulum Bahia video - how would you compare the two? Are they similar distance/walking to different places around the resort? Was the beach better in Punta Cana? Also if you know how far the drive was from the airport to Ambar? Would love to know! Thanks :)
Comparing Akumal and Tulum, I would say that the resort and rooms are newer and nicer at Tulum (although the rooms are slowly being redone at Akumal) but the beach is better at Akumal. Akumal also has an adults only section with a pool, whereas Tulum doesn’t. If you stay at akumal, you can visit and eat at Tulum but not vice versa. There are trolleys that take you between hotels, but they are walkable (15-20 mins). It takes about 1.5 hours to get to these resorts from Cancun airport. The beach in Punta Cana is different and unpredictable. In the best conditions, it will be better than the Tulum beach - but un the worst conditions, it’s un-swimmable with strong waves and lots of seaweed. The beach at Tulum/Akumal is sheltered a bit by man made dunes, but it’s important to note that the ocean is a bit rocky, so bring water shoes!
Great video! Quick question on the app. Are you able to check in prior to arrival in order to start booking reservations for the week? I am about 4 days out from arrival date. Thank you in advance!
You can only do this in you’ve booked directly through the Bahia Principe website - but it won’t work if you book through a third party like Expedia 🤷🏼♀️ you can try emailing the hotel to book some reservations, otherwise you can book them when you arrive!
I love the addition of the coffee shop! I'm assuming the merch isn't included with the all inclusive package, but do you know if the drinks and pastry served at the coffee shop are included?
Thank you! We loved the restaurants in the Las Olas beach house (Indian, Mexican and others) and the gourmet restaurant “limbo” at Ambar 👍🏻 the Japanese restaurant at Esmeralda is also excellent 👌🏻hope you have a great trip!
No, sadly it was not. There are shows every night at the theatre and the sports bar is open late until 2 or 3 am. Hopefully the disco opens back up soon!
You can make then at checkin, or through the app once you get there. Some people have had luck with emailing the resort before hand, but that’s not guaranteed to work 🤷🏼♀️
There is a disco in the Bahia village - but I hadn’t reopened since Covid 🤷🏼♀️ I don’t think it’s permanently closed, but not sure when it will reopen or if it already has 🤷🏼♀️
We have just recently got back from there and it was truly amazing. The weather the food the room etc. However what was disappointing was the sports bar. We can’t understand why it opens at 6 and we couldn’t use the pool table as we had to use tokens. Other than that it was wonderful 😊

very well done video, considering staying at the Ambar resort in January, never been. A question: My daughter and I like less crowded beaches and vegetation: if we keep walking does the beach have more remote areas/ (we can walk miles). Thanks
Hi there! I’m travelling here in June and I have downloaded the app, however I can’t do or see anything on the app until up to 5 days before my check-in date. Is this the experience you had with the app too?
Yes, you will have access to more on the app when you’re 5 days out - but I’m not sure if you can book any reservations until you’re there and have a room assigned 🤔 it’s more to familiarize yourself with what’s available on resort.
Hey just a few questions; is it easier to walk with cash or card during your visit? And also the Covid testing for the guest leaving to go back to their countries?
We brought both cash and credit cards - cash (small bills) for tipping the maids and staff and credit cards for excursions and souvenirs. We personally don’t travel with more than $100 - $200 cash - we have had our cash stolen before 😕 credit cards are accepted pretty much everywhere. Covid testing can be arranged through the check in/reception desk 👍🏻
Yes you can access all the other resorts (other than Fantasia) if staying at Ambar, but you can only eat at your own buffet… you can book ala cartes anywhere on property. Yes, there is a casino in the Bahia village. 👍🏻
Hiiii , love everything what you showed on the video , thanksssss!!! Im going in May, to a room with the pool. Im a little bit worried about getting sick i read some comments about that, how was your experience about that?
Are you worried about getting sick from the food or Covid? We didn’t have any issues with the food, it was delicious and didn’t bother our stomachs. If your worried about Covid, you can wear your mask to feel more safe and there is hand sanitizer everywhere. You also have to wear your mask and a gloves in the buffet to keep everyone safe.
I didn't understand which restaurants are open during day time. Are any of the a la cart open? Do we have to make any reservation? thanks for your review! I´m going to this resort in 4 days and your video was really nice!
Thank you! The buffet is open for breakfast and dinner, there is a beach/pool restaurant open for lunch and all of the ala cartes are by reservation in the evening for dinner 👍🏻 hope that helps!
You do not have to pay, they are included! The main difference is that you order from a menu and have a waiter serve you, rather than getting your own food like at a buffet. 👍🏻
I'm heading here next weekend for 14 nights! cannot wait and your video really made us even more excited for it. Just a couple questions regarding the restaurant Limbo, can you book these restaurants as often as you like during your stay? I know alot of all inclusive hotels here in Europe only allow you eat in the al e carte restaurants once per week. Also, the drinks and cocktails looks incredible, are they included in the all inclusive package or do you pay extra for these? Same for the coffee shop, are these included or?
Yay, 14 days - that sounds amazing! Yes, you can book the ala cartes as many times as you want on your trip! And yes, the drinks at Limbo as well as the coffee at the coffee shop are all included! You might be offered a special wine menu on occasion 🤔 but the prices will be marked if that’s the case. 👌🏻 have fun!
