I don't need to keep having them tell me I have mild hearing loss every year. Duh. No kidding. I buy aspirin, but I don't have to go get an exam to have them tell me I get occasional headaches in order to buy aspirin, or occasional cuts to buy bandaids, etc. It's so aggravating. The medical mafia.

My husband just got a hearing aid, he's had hearing loss since he was a boy, about 30 years. He first was tested by a community health center, and they said a hearing aid wouldn't help him. We changed health insurance and they retested him and after many appointments he finally got a hearing aid for about 1,500. He can hear much better, but it does hurt his ear sometimes and sometimes all the noise is overwhelming.

In Europe you go to a shop were an audiologist does all hearing tests for free, you get a hearing aid (Starkey, signia, etc.) for just the price of the device itself MINUS the amount covered by the insurance (which every citizen has from birth on). Total real cost ? A couple of bucks. The USA is ruled by bankers that suck up all of your money and give nothing back. When will people over there realize that what is done in Europe can be done in the US ?? Our medical care is free, our roads are in good condition, soil and water are healthy, all waste is recycled. The poor and homeless are taken care off to restart their lives etc, etc, etc.. America is a great country to visit, not to live in.

So I'm no expert but these work better than the ones my hearing doctor let me try for 3 weeks and they wanted $2.796.98!!😵 If you look online and do some indepth research like I did I think you can find a pair from a reputable company that suit your needs like I did at a very reasonable price!!🤔😁

Most of the others have you buy both (and of course pay for both). But the thing that this video helped me with was from someone who responded to a comment regarding the need for closed captioning on UA-cam and Lo and Behold!! The response was that UA-cam does provide closed captioning!! All you have to do is know where to find it. Fortunately I have a very tech savvy son who showed me how to find it and what an improvement in my understanding !! UA-cam has improved my quality of life in so any ways. I've lost pretty much all hearing in my right ear. I've had several surgeries to remove recurring cholesteatomas. I've noticed in the last year especially that I am having an extremely hard time making out direct conversation with someone if there is ANY background noise. 😐 Eating out, in the grocery store, at work, and now even if there's not too much noise but people are wearing masks - forget it. I can not understand what they are saying. I get really frustrated asking people to repeat it again and again. If I have to ask 3x and I still don't have a clue I give up. I'm sure I frustrate a good number of people too.

I am technically deaf (70%) in each ear and because of the expense of good hearing aids (~$5-6k per pair every 5 years), and not having any backups, this could serve as an efficient, temporary backup option. So glad they approved of the OTC for so many people who need them, but can’t afford them.

No captions here...I think it's the law...whenever a broadcast video is rebroadcasted in any format...captions have to come with it...captions cannot be stripped off! It is obvious that you CBS don't read your comments. Historical tidbit: CBS opposed the Captions and the mandate for its inclusion in 1980's while ABC really cooperated with the caption experiment. I remember ABC news replaying on PBS with open captions every night near midnight.

When I was 45 I lost 80% of my hearing in my left ear due to an ear infection. I have a hearing aid, the one cost me $3500.00. What needs to be said is hearing aids only last between 3 to 7 years, then need to be replaced. This wouldn’t be bad if insurance would cover part of the cost, but this is a large expense every few years to replace them.

You are waiting for the FDA to finish finalizing the rules and regulations for sale of these devices. Aside from to usual slowness of government bureaucracy there is the very difficult matter of categorizing which of the new technologies can be defined as devices that need not have and Audiology clinician involved in the dispensing of the new hearing aid definitions and which of those devices are simply personal sound amplification devices that need not have a clinician involved and can be sold over the counter. Pretty similar process to that of making sausages or law. Everyone wants a great final product, few are brave enough to see the process through to the end.

Dr. Frank Lin (John Hopkins) (@~6:10) is working for common good to reduce cost for users. But Chris McCormick Starkey, (@~8:50) chief marketing guy will do/say whatever to protect the hearing aid exclusivity: "concern is people trying to self diagnose, people trying to self program." That's bull.
With apps available for self hearing tests, the programming can easily be set via Bluetooth: fit the device, listen for a very quiet a tone at a first frequency, if not heard, incrementally increase the level of tone until you hear it. Increase frequency to next tone, repeat. When complete the system can store the program to adjust the frequency response to compensate for you personal loss. Just like in the audiologist office. Voila 2/3 of cost eliminated. If curious, search apps for sound analysis & you'll find many apps. The trick is to couple the app to the psap transducers/amps that play the tones so that the result is a closed loop that becomes a closed loop with your personal hearing. Similarly, noise cancellation tech is already available & used in consumer products.

    You're Hard To Listen To
    © Thomas L. Harleman, August 3, 2020
I wear expensive hearing aids cause I can hardly hear
But often what goes into one comes out the other ear
And much of what gets caught inside just isn't really true
Why did I pay thousands if you're hard to listen to?
I try to watch some tv shows but miss a lot of stuff
I try to read their lips but soon I've quickly had enough
I scoot a little closer and then crank up the sound
So I can't hear the neighbors yelling, "Turn that darn thing down!"
I try to give an answer to what I thought you said
You have a puzzled look upon your face and shake your head
I try to pay attention but my hearing is so poor
I only feel vibrations when you leave and slam the door
I often play the banjo because it's very loud.
And when I play, folks walk away so I rarely draw a crowd.
I play without my hearing aids. To you that might seem dumb.
But they make it sound like beating on a 55 gallon drum.
I wear expensive hearing aids cause I can hardly hear

As far as background noise being a problem.
That's why I was wanting to know about people's workplace experiences with wearing hearing aids?
Many workplaces are noisy. Do your hearing aids help or hurt your ability to hear well in a noisy workplace?

S H you do know that lobbyists from big companies, are putting money into the government pockets to make sure that new laws won’t effect their company. So, that is harder said then done, that anyone that we put into any office will 100% put the common people needs before those of millionaires, their entire time in office.

ok are there hearing aids that people can actually NOT SEE that you're wearing them (EVEN if they're next to you looking inside your ear)? And if there are, are they as effective as the awful ones that everyone can see? And how do you take them off and put back on yourself (like when you are out eg at a bar, club, restaurant etc) without embarrassing yourself by making a spectacle of the event? And how long do the batteries last on these? And, are they waterproof (like swim underwater waterproof)?
The above questions are pretty much what everyone wants answers to as everyone with hearing loss wants the same things: To hear, and no one else to know they're wearing hearing aids, and for us to be able put them on/take them off easily and fast, and not to risk water accidents/damages, and to need to recharge them as least often as possible. ;)
I hope all these magical drugs that claim will restore hearing loss (like the FX-322) will actually be available soon (but my the looks of things nothing's really moving in that front)... :(
