Ahh, that is so great to read! Thanks for that, and I'm glad that you liked Vienna. It is a special place, and it does not resonate with everyone. So hey, I'm happy to read that! Next time, you have to let me know when you are around.
Hello Thomas, Jose from Puerto Rico. This was a great video. Your explanation was thorough and easy to understand. You are a gifted teacher. I changed some of my settings in my OM1 camera, following your suggestions. Specifically, with the dynamic range settings. I switched them back to 0 and 255, since your explanation of the practical exposure values you get were very clear. I also turned on the clipping for under or over exposure "blinkers." Thanks again.
Thank you so much Jose! I am super happy that the 0/255 suggestion worked for you - the OM-1 has a really good sensor and is quite "forgiving". Thank you for watching, I very much appreciate that, as always! Best wishes!
Another really informative video about the OM-1/1.2 Thomas. I love how it has live clipping warnings, rather than having to take the shot and review it to see them. Do any other manufacturers that you know of offer this, or is it just OMS?
Thank you Thomas. I’m really enjoying your in-depth topics on this camera, it’s very helpful. Do you, or would you consider making a video on a complete setup of this camera to include all of your custom modes and function buttons? I’m interested in your camera setup and work flow. Thank you very much for all of your hard work. Your videos are outstanding!
Hey Tom! Thanks for bringing this up, it is a great idea for a future video. I've just added it to the list! Also, I would like to thank you very much for your kind feedback, it means a lot to me. I am super happy that you find my videos beneficial!
Thank you very much, I'm truly humbled! Actually, I don't have a background in teaching, but it is so amazing to read that you like the structure and content of my videos. Thank you again, Tony!
Very helpful! One thing that wasn't clear to me from the video, was why there are two "info settings" under 4. I gather, looking at the manual, that the one with just the camera icon is for the rear monitor, while the one with the camera icon and what looks like a monitor icon is for the EVF. Correct?
Yes, you are correct Barry! There are two info screens that you can configure, one for the EVF and one for the back screen. I've only shown one if them. Thanks for pointing that out
I was disappointed by the Live View Simulation Limit of only +/-3 EV range. I previously shot with the Panasonic G9 and had no issues achieving an accurate exposure simulation when shooting the moon at night. With the OM-1, the range of +/-3 EV was too small to capture the extreme darks of the sky and the bright moon. I end up with a photo that looks much darker than what the live view showed.
You could take a look at a clip on the narrow band channel that uses multiple images from video to stack into a high res composite image. Robin Wong, and others suggest techniques as well. This may be more work, but that might be fun for you.
Yes, previewing the exposure is hampered by the +/-3 EV limit in these extreme situations. I usually use the internal spot meter to set the exposure, so this can help to mitigate the issue. For example, taking a spot meter reading of the moon and setting an appropriate exposure compensation should help. Thanks for the comment and bringing this up!
@@ThomasEisl.Photography yep, that's the workaround I ended up having to do. Just inconvenient to configure the metering everytime I run into these scenarios. Usually I'm not aware that the live preview is showing an inaccurate exposure preview until I've taken the shot, so unless I always review the shot I take immediately, it can be missed until I go home and find out that the exposure wasn't right. These extreme scenarios aren't too common so it's not that bad. Just didn't expect a downgrade in experience, coming from a much cheaper and "lesser" Lumix G9.
For a beginner, it's very difficult to find a menu where we can do what you said, I have to replay again and again to identify the frame. And I can hardly follow the actions that you did, a little bit slower will be more helpful.
The video is intended as a master class, I completely agree that it is hard to follow if you are just starting out. Hopefully, the video included helpful information for you nonetheless. Again, thanks for the feedback, I very much appreciate that!

Greatly appreciated Thomas. Enjoying your work as always.
I just spent an unforgettable two week vacation taking pictures in Vienna ❤ with my son.

Merci pour toutes ces vidéos explicative sur l'OM1 👍👍👍
De rien! Merci pour votre soutien et feedback 📸
Very informative, thank you.
Awesome! Great to hear
Sehr gute Erklärungen, die ich fast alle für meine OM-D E-M5 MIII übernehmen kann. Vielen Dank.
Vielen Dank Elke!

I’m looking forward to it.

Thomas, you must have a background in teaching, you do it so well. Your explanation of the OM1's functions are outstanding.

Ich hoffe gibt es später auch deutsche videos 😉
Ja, ich hadere noch ein bisschen ;-) Danke Dir, dass Du auch meine Videos auf englischer Sprache ansiehst! Much appreciated :-)
Worth mentioning, histogram and clipping warning indicators do not work in S-OVF mode.
Yes, true!

From the beginning, no any information how to display histogram on the screen, then........
