- Luseno's famous "weco" fee collection by "Amakuru"... trivial: WECO= western college now MMUST (Masinde Muliro University of Sc and Tech) Likuru= corruption of "wheel crew" i.e. the chief's aide-de camp. Notice the crying stone!

Hi
I just arrived...missed these songs
2023 meeen this still a hit long live mulembe nation
Our historian and luhyia music maestro is simply telling us that governments can eat their own children. It happened in Kenyatta regime and is still happening today through exploitative taxes. This music will be a classic for many years.
Betrayal in the city 😂😂😂
For those who don't understand,Amakuru means the headmen in the village. The song is simply about how the headmen harass people in the village.
Thank you
Thanks brother.

My cousin Andieri introduced this song to me as we were taking care of my grandfather's cows in Bunyore. Actually, the Kenyatta I regime had pushed village life to its limits.

My Luhya people hooyeeeeeeee from bunyore
Great music. Great rendition. "Likuru" is just "Recruit", Luhya pronounciation. Recruits were used to collect hut tax during colonial era, but that continued and got a life of its own post independence when leaders used it to 'eat'.
Mwananchi Mwema, people were robbed off their belongings in the name harambee contributions
