That's what makes Outback Octagon a total joke of a competition but also incredibly entertaining to watch. Bad spawn with an unfortunate civ next to HRE? Top 3 player in the world dies in 5 minutes Good spawn with a good civ and a relic jackpot? Instantly goes from last place to first
Consider that the First 2 on the list were the winner of the 2 previus game. Is obvius that beasty win taked him up on the list. And with the risk he took he skyrocketed.@@musashigundoh
Why is no one talking about CsOh feeding the king? Literally the same situation as Corvinus. Ran the king right to Beasty. It's one thing to stay alive as long as possible, it's another to run the king miles from your base, with no defense or destination, especially when people are in age 3 and can use king ability to find them
Who was reminded of the crazy million Wololos to defend a super early sacred victory in the previous Octagon? It was the wololo god himseld iirc OO2 game 17, Top Secrer Sacred Site ua-cam.com/video/C0UqubEQ1zk/v-deo.htmlsi=xTK6LMHlmn2r-jJN
1. Drongo, you got me crying laughing bro. So funny. I love your commentary style. 2. I really enjoy victories / strategies like this in high level games. Always a great example of how the "Meta" strategy with your civ is not ALWAYS the way to win. You have to adapt and sometimes the answer is 15 Mangos, 4 keeps, 8 outposts, and knights until your head spins. hahaha
he had the win pretty much in the bag based on spawns, but decided to gamble the 9 points for the win on potentially getting zero through the sacred sites - worked out in the end but doesnt always!
Did Beasty get a point for the tap out? His army was so overwhelming that he should have been able to snipe the king before the SS time ran out which would give him an extra point vs just having the SS victory.
Drongo missing all the king kills was absolutely hilarious as usual. Regarding CSOH, I think if we are being fair to Corvinus, CSOH should have definitely been penalized -8 for consistency, and that 1 point should not have been granted to Beasty but instead fo Puppy. Not that it was going to change this game's outcome, Puppy getting that kill and point was not going to change the fact he had sub-200 pop throughout the game, and the 50 pop Beasty got were not the reason he defeated Vortix (Beasty had 200 pop when he attacked Vortix with Elite Knights and Vortix had nothing but a few Castle Age Keshiks). SPOILER: Beasty did win the finals by a landslide, that 1 point going to Puppy wouldn't have changed anything. But penalizing CSOH would have put him last instead of Wam.
Please delete spoilers! Its not really hidden, when I clicked the read more it was above the spoiler warning and the whole comment was really easy to see.
I watched the replay from csoh's pov. Csoh had bigger army than Baltune. Baltune started trebbing csoh's tc. csoh ran king to north-east part of his base allowing his army to defend against baltune. Baltune's last remaining 9 maa's started chasing king. Csoh ran king further away to let sofa's kill maa, once that was done king was rallied back. (Baltune was eliminated too at that point by puppypaw). Csoh was at no risk of losing his landmarks to baltune. Beasty's knights were at the south of csoh's base, used king ability and ran past the sofas to the king (which was running away from beasty's knights). Meanwhile puppy was going for csoh's TC. Everything in that process was entirely fairplay, and beasty getting the points & popcap was legit. I'd encourage people to watch the game step by step and evaluating what's exactly happening, before jumping to conclusions.
I read the spoiler thinking it was spoiling this particular game I had just finished watching, not the whole finals... 😢 Not sure imma watch the next games now
Even though Nomad is a cool idea, I do think the fact the winner is so spawn-dependent kinda detracts from the competitive aspects. May I suggest for the next OO, having fixed, equidistant spawns for each player?
its 10 pts for a win right? beasty got sacred site when 5 enemies were alive, 2 kills, and a win. so 2+5+10 = 17 or am i wrong? shouldnt he be at 18 pts now?
Feels like nomad is always about spawn, if you get lucky, you most likely will win, or at least increase your chances dramatically, especially in a lobby full of really competent players where the skill difference is not that big. It is kinda unfair, but I love the caos. But when I play FFA, I prefer to play the regular one, without nomad.
So, we will just turn our heads away from the king donation happened this game because why should we ruin Beasty’s perfect victory. After 50 games later he scores a win and receives million points. This OO3 was terrible, need to rewrite the rules and pointing next year for sure.
In this game CSOH just did the same thing as Corvinus1 in Game 35. "run his king alone toward knowned enermy base location when under attack". If Corvinus1's behavior was king donation why CsOH wasn't? this is unfair!

Csoh ran his king from baltune, who was then killed by puppypaw. On his way back to TC got caught by Beasty's knights - literally running away from Beasty towards his own TC.
This wasn't very fun. So does csoh get minus points? Because he basically ran his king in a very very comparable way to corvinus. I feel you should stop joking about corvinus being out Drongo, it's not fair on him. What was frustrating about this game was everyone just ignoring the threat of beasty. Please please for next octagon, make names anonymous but also incentive killing players who are stronger in terms of max population etc. Cos this one was so so so one sided.
Anonymous names doesn't sound very fun. Might as well just do random twitch chatters if we don't know who's competing.. CsoH death isn't exactly a donation, his king was under attack from Beasty at CSoH's base, and he was running, so he didn't send it to Beasty purposefully by the looks of it.
And Corvinus was running his king south and didn't turn east until he was reacting to being spotted by An's scout. He wasn't donating either. Just no one ever asked. Just took 8 points... So why not here? Why not in any of the situations where people surrendered against the rules, one of them being Beasty himself? 003 is a joke...
He can have the players anonymous to one another and have an overlay with the names of the players on the same spot that the names appears now It's very simple to do Don't know why he hasn't done it yet
Beasty had BY FAR the best spawn in this game and was fave to win when all players are at the same (high level) - however acting fast to take the sacred site and so many points when the opportunity presented itself is what has put him in a strong position. They didnt ignore him for very long at all compared to some other games we've seen with one player booming. Just a shame that the final is only 5 games when there are 8 players and spawns play such a big role.
how was it a dono? CsOH had beasty knights chasing him from CSOH's base if you pause at @19:20 you can see a patch of yellow units in CSOH base running south toward the king.
The rules don't state anything about wat ur addressing. The rules say u cannot run ur king in the direction of an enemy base when u are being attacked. He did that...
@RM_3D he was positioned south towards Beastys base, and he wasn't running from Beasty. Baltune was attacking him, and as soon as Puppy eliminated Baltune he attacked CS. It was in there that CS ran towards Beastys base. Logically if CS was running from that pack of knights he wouldn't have made it half as far as he did. They caught up bcuz they're knights...
Huge mistake by puppy, he was heading towards the undefended beasty base at one point before diverting to mid. Had he just went for it, all of beasty's landmarks were undefended.
beasty had so much imp cav and its HRE u cant just snipe landmarks with how much HP they have + emergency repair. Also its easy to say such things with god vision.

You love to see Beasty get a good spawn finally. He capitalizes so well too.
19:40 that almost looked like a CsOH king donation to Beasty but I think he had a scout following the king from CsOH base.
Looked like he tapped the locate ability and saw him running too.
