I am portuguese, Sagres has been my favourite place in the Algarve for 40 years, back when we were kids hitchhiking and enjoying wild camping. It was wild, only locals around, cheap, genuine and absolutely amazing. Such wonderful memories.
Oh my Goodness! The great history and photography you create for these videos--- so Good! You should have 100000 followers. You do a great job. I so enjoy your content. Please never stop creating!!!!!
I really enjoyed this video. I haven't been to Sagres in 30 years or so. Fond memories of the hotel and the Tasca, I used to go there to visit family in the summer. My uncle had his house, where the hotel was built later. There was a farm towards the west of the harbor, and there were a few houses along the beach to the east the harbor and that was pretty much it! Looks to me that Martinhal is where a British couple friend had their home. I was pleasantly surprised how Sagres has "grown" w/o losing it's wild, remote side, which I loved. 👋👋👋👋👋
My dad's family was from the Algarve, Silves. They lived in Lisbon, but tio Alvaro had that house in Sagres and decided to build a hotel; it was a bold move. My dad's company built the hotel Baleeira and the one in Armacao De Pera; I can't remember the name. The Algarve that existed then was remote, wild, and beautiful.
Well it seems you looked at Sagres from a 'guys' point of view Nick ! ? lol ie the beers/bars etc Or maybe its simple exploded in the year since this video ? Quite a few interesting shops have opened up. A lovely Dutch lady has a unique clothing store...Another Dutch owned ice cream/coffee shop...A great little restaurant as you enter Sagres village at the roundabout..A 'famous' specialist ' pizza franchise with cute garden..around the corner from the 'camel' bar ...Sagres is bitter sweet for me and my family ,(a family tragedy.took place there over 30yrs ago) we still visit for the famous sunsets from time to time though.
I'm so sorry to hear that, Jenny. However, you're right about the perspective (tough not to view it that way for us - being guys and all 🤣). Maybe I should try and bring along a lady on my next visit to Sagres. 😎👍🏼
What's the best month to go to Sagres? Moving to Portugal in October and looking forward to all the discoveries to be done. You are the UA-cam king of the Algarve!
Wow. Sagres looked more interesting than I originally thought. Your resort looked good too. Bookmarking for future visit. Thanks. Visiting Algarve from Canada next month. Third time in 6 months. Yikes!
Hey Luca, yes there is. When it's too big on the west coast and when the swell direction changes. We even get surf all the way along the south coast in winter (Albufeira, Vilamoura, Faro).
Hi Cher! For sure, that place is beautiful, however I wouldn't know of it suited you without knowing more info. Let's get on a call www.algarveaddicts.com/chat
amazing how they convinced fools, they had to wear a mask to stand up but they were perfectly safe once sat down. the truth is coming out but people still don't want to hear how they have been conned
Still required on public transport and medical places inc pharmacies. Public transport mandatory mask wearing *should* be stopped in the next few days but will be continued for all medical.
Probably our favourite part of the Algarve ❤❤ We loved it, such. a cool vibe there
Yeah it's fabulous, but it might feel a little "away from it all" if I was living there all the time...

Wow, how I would have loved to see that time in the Algarve. I was here in 1992 for a week and it was amazing.
Great video! We went to Sagres from Lagos for the day to go surfing in the first week we arrived in Portugal.
Awesome, it's the spot for surf for sure! It feels like it's an Algarve week, I see Stay Classy just went to VRSA 👌🏼
Quite spectacular views, thankyou for the history, very interesting.

I love Sagres! I spent 3 months in Portugal (on the Silver Coast) and drove down to Sagres twice.
My Australian cousin who now lives in Lisboa took me to Sagres after he collected me at Faro. Your wonderful video brings back cherished memories
Did you or your cousin surf?
Awesome video and content Nick. Brings back some good good memories.
Yeah! You introduced me to the Dromedaris if I recall correctly 👍🏼

Those memories are priceless, if only we had a time machine. I would love to see the Algarve 30 years ago.
@@AlgarveAddicts Yes, your video made me go back in time the Algarve it was a special place.

Thank you ☺️ Possibly August as it's the warmest month.
Great video as always! We went househunting there but a bit too isolated for us. Aljezur is the next one?
Hey Serge! Yes, Aljezur is next. Let's hope I can get it out by Sunday 😟
D. Henrique was also the son of an english lady, Philippa of Lancaster, married to D. João I.
Thanks for sharing, yup there's so much history it's tough to fit it all into a few minutes of video 😊👍🏼

This could become a habit! 😂👍🏼 Enjoy your trip.
Wondeful video as always Nick! A question if I may. Is there any good surfing on those beaches not facing the Atlantic?
Hey Luca, yes there is. When it's too big on the west coast and when the swell direction changes. We even get surf all the way along the south coast in winter (Albufeira, Vilamoura, Faro).
@@AlgarveAddicts Amazing! Thanks Nick! And keep doing these amazing and full of passion video for us!! 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻

Hi Nick, I m so happy I found you here. We just got back from Martinhal Resort. Do you think it is a good idea to buy a hotel apt? Thank you!

Are you able to drive Portugal without paying tolls? Are there back streets or you'll always have to take highway's with tolls?
Hey Alan, there's always an alternative (at least down south there is). They're just longer.
@@AlgarveAddicts Awesome Thank you.
Im watching the video again and Martinhal is not where our friends lived.
amazing how they convinced fools, they had to wear a mask to stand up but they were perfectly safe once sat down. the truth is coming out but people still don't want to hear how they have been conned
Are people still wearing masks?
Very occasionally do you see a masked person.
Still required on public transport and medical places inc pharmacies.
Public transport mandatory mask wearing *should* be stopped in the next few days but will be continued for all medical.
