Everybody's Golf (Japanese: みんなのGOLF Hepburn: Minna no Golf), formerly known in North America as Hot Shots Golf, is a series of golf games published by Sony throughout the history of the PlayStation series of video game consoles. The series is well known for its humorous take on the game of golf which includes cartoon-like characters and with modes such as miniature golf paired with a realistic engine and precise ball physics.
Six main games in the series have been published between 1997 and 2011 for PlayStation, PlayStation 2 and Playstation 3, with another four spin-off editions (which include a similarly-themed tennis game and various portable console versions) for PlayStation Portable and PlayStation Vita platforms. The most recent title in the series is Everybody's Golf, released in August 2017.

Two particular charms that I personally adore in the HSG/Everybody's Golf games are:
1. The Music, nothing really competes.
2. Ever noticed how caddies just go ZOOMIN' after the ball? Its hilarious! In FORE, they even made them slip and slide with audible cues, it only adds to the innocent fun of HSG/EG.
My favorite version was the HSG Fore.. oh my.. great characters, funny animation, great caddies, and the voice lines wow 😂
@@GReyn i agree with both of you. Fore is my favorite as well. The HSG games have so much charm and care put into them, from the courses, to the characters, the music , the sounds, and etc. Maybe they had too much charm because they have ruined other golf games for me lol

I actually prefer the character models from World Invitational to the ones from Everybody's Golf PS4. They just look smoother in comparison.
Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds with the new "swing" mechanics based on an expanding and shrinking circle and the introduction of online tournaments was brilliant. I have loved every version of the game (haven't played past PS3) and hope it continues along the same style for years to come for new players.
Man i feel like a nerd but i loved hot shots 1 thru 4. A lot hours making birdies
@Sablicious maybe im a little over zealous but i wish i could pick a character with a decent swing and normal attire. Mason is prob my fav character for that reason and the later games dont seem to have character close to that.

I’ve played everything past 3, one of my personal favorite video game series. Fore was one of the first video games I can remember playing. Growing up I put so many hours into these games.
My favorite Hot Shot game are HS3,HS outbounds & Hot Shot tennis
My name Rio comes from Hot Shots Golf Open Tee. You can tell how much I love the game, I still play Open Tee 1&2 sometimes on my Steam Deck.

Love this game so freakin much!
The characters had so much more personality in the early days. My favorite one being HSG Fore!. It had tons of characters, tons of courses and you didn't had to buy tons of DLCs. Everything in one package. After that it went very bland with the characters and I feel they didn't had any real personality and charm. Even the pressure sensitive buttons (for once this feature was great for golf) was removed on the PS3 even though the DS3 got this capability. Beside the visuals it seems not much improved unfortunately.
I agree. As someone who has played almost all the versions of this game over the years. The PS3 and PS4 games are still a great mix of arcade and simulation, but the charm and the quirkiness is totally gone and I miss that. I would really have liked them to keep the alternate control scheme as well. I hope at this point they are making the new one for the PS5. There hasn't been much support lately for Everybody's Golf.
They revamped the story mode in the newest entry to make the game focus on your specific development
I don’t mind the graphical improvement, it’s how there’s too much realism now. It’s not Tiger Woods, everything after Out of Bounds was a departure from most of what made Hot Shots iconic to begin with. A remaster with the old BGM would be great 😌

Weird how internationally it’s known as Everybody’s Golf and here in North America it’s Hot Shots Golf. Plus gore is probably the best game out of the whole series.
I used to play the one the psp when I was little and I completely forgot about it and now I’m extremely nostalgic for it and wanna get the one on the ps4
Lol kinda similar.. i used to play the HSG Fore one on PS2.. unlocked all the stages, all the characters (except 1), all the caddies, all the costumes, and all the mini golf.. such a joy back then..

I’m doing a full play through of hsg3 with my boy Zeus with a big air ball, completing tourney mode now, on Pro.
I used to be so stupid good at these games on the ps1. IDK how I was so good a games as a kid.
Lol similar for me.. i was quite good on HSG Fore on PS2, played and unlocked most of the content.. getting looks of eagles, and at times hole in one.. on the mini golf, i got long shots often..
@@GReyn yup, same with me man. I had the wind figured out perfect where I could get hole-in-one at an incredible rate, almost on demand. No way I can do that anymore.

If memory serves me, Mel was a player in Hot Shots 2, but then they moved him to a caddy in either HS 3 or 4. I feel like Everybody's Golf really missed the boat not including Mel as either the host of the game or at least a commonly seen NPC within the game....or even a caddy again.
It was worth playing before just to have him as a caddy and hear the odd but funny quotes he would offer.
I believe Out of Bounds allowed you to use Kratos as a player which was really neat. That would also be a nice detail in Everybody's Golf, but I guess with all of the options available, one could almost build their own Kratos ....or whatever other iconic personality.
Mel isn't Canon that's why, he was a placeholder for Suzuki since Clap Hanz thought it would be an idea to alter the character roster for the American versions of HSG 2 through fore

Is there necessarily a canon to hsg/eg though? For so long so much content has been different between versions (such as characters from 3 US version combing back in HSG Fore US). Even voice actors have changed for the same character between editions.

You got your wish... kind of. The Clap Hanz folks no longer work for Sony, so they went and released a game on ios: Clap Hanz Golf. It is a full-on HST game in all but name. Alas, you have to subscribe to Apple Arcade to play it. Baffling move by Clap Hanz, but... if you have a controller for ios, the game is really, really good (as much as I hate to admit it). It is closer in spirit to the PS3 games, and the presentation elements are spot on.
Nothing will ever top the PS3 HST games for me; those are the best golf games ever made. But the new Clap Hanz effort is worth at least a look.
@@bluebirdconundrum I didn’t know clap Hanz went seperate ways from Sony. In a way they could release their games on other consoles like Switch and Xbox Series X

Why did Sony America change the name to Hot Shots Golf?
So it’s the same game but different characters for different regions. Japanese characters in Hot Shots a Golf wouldn’t be popular in America and Canada.
In the late 90s and early 2000s. The internet and world wide media was weird. Not only were there a ton of games and movies lost in translation, but a lot of companies were unsure how their foreign game would do in America, as Japanese culture is very different from the states’ normals. As hsg 3 and fore show. The Japanese/EU exclusive characters have a more chibi design, featuring big eyes, and in some cases, less clothing, since that’s simply their culture in gaming. While the American exclusive characters are all translated very uniquely. T-Bone personally stands out the most, as he’s basically your average tough gangster in Japanese media. Hsg fore further proves the stereotype of how Japan sees black people as he can be seen in New York mob attire. But in hsg 3, it was said that T-bone “defended his block with a nine iron”. Obviously there’s a difference between the nyc bloods (t-bone is seen in red multiple times) and the New York mafia. Another amazing example is Alan/Jonnie. Both being your generic Hollywood actor with a huge ego and an expensive cellphone. It’s evident that they wanted the characters to stick out in the American version, and to me, they did amazing. I love the bits of lore and character that the American version has. So to answer your question. Sony America just didn’t think Americans would understand Japanese culture. I myself own both versions and am sexually attracted to multiple Japanese characters, so it’s clear why they did that.
@@DustyDirk Couldn't have said it better myself and though I don't own the Japanese versions, sony America's versions of 3 and 4, the only ones I have, are just TOP NOTCH! T-Bone is my favorite in both.

Playstation All Star Battle Royal shouldn't be counted.
Personally, i think the Ps3 Hot Shots games and onwards are where the series lost its charm. They should have stuck with the chibi art style.
Nice video but... Why tennis and batte royale? (which is a total copy of super smash bros!) but other than that I enjoyed it.

Change the US name back to Hot Shots Golf and just make another game like HSG3 or HSG4. The PS4 game is too complicated, the older ones are simpler and easier.

No, this is an evolution of the Everybody’s Golf/Hot Shots Golf series. Everybody’s/Hot Shots Tennis games are a spin-off of the series so those count. As for PSASBR, the game made a cameo as a stage, so that counts as well.
Everybodys golf is trash...a ps4 game that looks like a ps2... that being said...I just got my platinum
