    A Drag??
Dragging is when a rider falls off, and their foot is caught in the stirrup, and their head is bouncing along the ground-
This was a horse just cantering a little, the rider looks a little unbalanced, that is all.

Must be hard controlling a horse with one hand when the horse decides to bolt

Great horsemanship getting the horse back under control. Even the most steady mounts can spook.

Sppoked? English classes more than horsemanship issues here. I didn't expect this in GB. We have it in our media in the US! Horrendous.

I notice that one of the Grooms from the Royal Household went to help and obviously the sight of a calm horse reassured the spooked horse . Perhaps they are stabled together at the Royal Mews

The horse could probably have done with a good gallop to use up some of his energy before going in the cavalcade. He looked to be a bit full of himself to me.

The horse carted him, it didn't 'drag' him. Happens to the best of us. "Stick on, it has to stop eventually".

You are right, in the sense that somebody should have intervened, but unfortunately none of the high-ranking officers that surrounded him could have done that (they are not supposed to do that, plus they were at the end of the parade, exiting the grounds). However...there are stewards around, who did pick up things that fell down (a police officer picked up his helmet) and ran after the horse. In these moments, even the stewards could not intervene, since the horse started running (one cannot engage with a running horse), so Major General was the only one who should have controlled the horse. Luckily, the horse stopped quickly.

It was mildly alarming but not at all shocking. The horse napped, he bounced about trying to maintain his dignity while it carted him off under the trees! Two police officers just stood and watched. Fortunately he wasn't dragged along the ground upside down with one foot stuck in the stirrup or they'd have had to stop and call an ambulance.

They most likely control the horse with their legs more than the reins. When learning to ride I had the bridle and stirrups taken off me to learn to control the horse with my legs. They are good riders though it would be hard with all the gear on and holding swords etc.
