    I don't think I'll be hunting this particular plant down but I do really appreciate the information about semi hydro and fertilizer because I feel everything you said could be helpful to many plants. I've had a lot of luck experimenting semi Hydro with many my plants and now you have given me some ideas of what to do with my epiphytic cacti🎉🤞

    Heck of a helpful video! Thank you!
    Any thoughts or findings on airflow requirements (for ssp. bradei)? In my setup, I can raise humidity a bit via enclosure, but that really means really still air unless I get a small fan for the enclosure... I seek your counsel.

    I just have the regular run of the mill Schlumbergera. Three of them. So far they are doing well. Good to knowIt is not uncmmon to have a crash and burn with these plants . I had a lovely Christmas one doing amazing from small cutting to huge plant in about 4 years and them it totally crashed on me. I felt so bad. I was able to get another cutting of my original plant . I had a hard time getting it to go. Next time I will for sure try the semi hydro.
    After watching your rhipsalis closet room I really want to try something like it here. BUT you do have what looks to be a nice window. Somewhere I heard they will do well just under lights. I am flat out running out of space but I still want more Rhipsalis. Sigh. I guess I just need to send less loved plants to local friends to make more space.

      I just went vertical and got good quality grow lights. I always find more room 😉. 💚🌱

      @@EpiphyticCacti LOL Yes I have done that in my hoya bathroom. Growing them hanging on the walls and I converted an old store card rack that rotates. I think it will hold 21 to 24 smaller hoyas. LOL Just not sure what to do with the other 40 something left. I just put up a 7 foot cast iron rail with a 4 foot LED 65K 2000 something lumen light over it. Right now I just have random baby plants that are going away to a friend when she comes back to town. I can probably hang 8 or 10 Rhips on that rail If you think the grow light would be enough for them. I just NEED to get rid of some more of my larger philodendrons. at 75 I need to have plants that are easier to manage weight wise. Maybe switch up rooms . GAH Always trying to get more plant space. That also has nice growing conditions for the plant.
      Right now I have all my jungle cactus on that one the one large studio shelf. South east window. Mostly east My house does not sit square to the compass.

    Your collection is amaizing. Kevin was kind enough to share a cutting of S. Lutea Casa 1000 clone with me a while ago, and it took a bit of time to root in regular aroid soil mix. Fun fact that it started to show new growth when the days were the shortest and the coldest. l'm not using any growing lights and l placed it on the north windowsill as Kevin mentioned that it likes cooler temperatures. At some point l thought that l lost it to root rot because some clades fell off, l plased them back and a few rerooted and the others rotted. Now l'm being careful with my watering schedule, water once a week. l hope one day it'll become a big mama plant and bloom though)

      Thanks! Here is a really good video (ua-cam.com/video/UrbpYdPoMFk/v-deo.htmlsi=wym4xbKK_hgsjPmI) about grafting, it’s the same concept no matter what the stock/scion combination you use. Overlap the vascular bundles, keep good contact, keep the humidity up, and keep everything as sterile as possible.

    Hi could mag cal?.and the other fertilizer s. would it be beneficial to schlumberger also if grown in soil.vs. hydroponics.or would you advise against the use?.a lot of people in Ireland and England use tomato feed.for rain forest cacti.they do well.i just thought I could make the plants happier .as you know the happier the plant the happier the grower👍😊❤.it would be a interesting video on foliage feeding.its not a common way to feed.for average people.cheers respect.just a thought one day you may be called on to replenish the dwindling stocks in the wild one day.so it's important for you to continue to protect these beautiful specimens.❤

      Hi! It’s great if your current fertilizer is lacking in calcium and magnesium which most are!

      @ishveyk 6 місяців тому

      @@EpiphyticCacti Thank you! What kind of soil would you recommend for S. microsphaerica? Is it possible to grow it in your mix (potting soil + perlite + pine bark + geolite)? Another question about H. herminiae. I saw that you have it growing in moss in a greenhouse. Based on your experience, does it make sense to take it for indoor, not a greenhouse or florarium keeping? What difficulties can be met when growing it? Especially on its own roots.

      Have you tried semi-hydro? It works really well for S. lutea to get them both rooted and growing. You can graft it on a Schlumbergera truncata hybrid or Pereskiopsis which both seem to have a high success rate.
