- Welcome to the latest episode of Big Trip! Today I am at Aberdeen located on the Edinburgh to Aberdeen and Glasgow to Aberdeen Line where services are seen by ScotRail, LNER and CrossCountry.
Aberdeen was a station I always intend to visit every time I'm up in Scotland. The station has a very interesting layout to it with platforms numbered and lettered depending on the direction the train is heading on Platforms 6 and 7 however the rest are bay platforms used for stuff going South. The view is great with Clayhills depot located right next to the station so is great to watch the LNER HSTs head in there whilst they either wait for their return journey to London or stable in there overnight. This station is home to a lot of 158s and is a good example of how scattered around these units are around Scotland as you'll get some in central Scotland and then the rest hiding away far up North, it's really interesting to see how big a network Scotland's railway is. Overall, Aberdeen was by far one of the most impressive stations I filmed at during my visit and is a place I'd highly recommend as a station and as a city itself as it is quite nice.

Hi, Kieran great video! Caledonian sleeper I believe.

Thank you!
Great video I do love trains
Thank you!
Great video
Thank you!
Nice trains!!!
Thank you!
Great video Kieran. What about the Island Line, have you filmed them?
Noice premier, saw a lot of interesting things there lol.
Btw is the answer to your question Caledonian Sleeper?
Thank you bud! Yes that's the correct answer.
Caledonian sleeper but you did in Inverness as I saw you there but was crapping my pants as I was to nervous to say hello
Ah never mind bud. I didn't spot you.
Awesome Video Bud :) This maybe wrong but I'm going to take shot at it. Is it the Caledonian Sleeper?
Thank you Rob! Yes that is right!
Dyce is the nearest station serving the airport so does get busy on some services.
Indeed!
That being said, Dyce station is on the other side of Aberdeen Airport to the main Airport entrance, and isn't that convenient. I did fly up to Aberdeen in August to travel on the longest service, the Aberdeen - Penzance service, and just got a taxi down to my hotel, the one just by the station
Aberdeen is a very quiet station I wouldn’t spend all day here that’s for damn sure
Caledonian sleeper as the question of the video
Well done!
Great video KTV videos, when will u film a Caledonian Sleeper?
Thank you bud. Not long now!
@@KTVTransport I can't wait to watch that video.
Go to Markinch or Glenrothes with Thornton
I will look into those in the future.
Is it Caledonian Sleeper
I really like Aberdeen Station but what really annoying is that you can see so much potential for investment and improvement.
All the money that's been poured into the Central belt Edinburgh and Glasgow. Stations like Aberdeen and others up and down the scotrail network on many routes have been badly neglected and its disgusting.
I been to Aberdeen a few times looked around I'm really fond of it. But needs to next for investment. The infrastructure is mostly in place.
There's not that much you would need to do. But the problem is the busy line for passengers and freight. You couldn't upgrade the station without expecting replacement bus services. Especially between Aberdeen and Dyce.
So a bit like my local Plymouth
They Caledonian sleeper
Correct!
Aberdeen looks kinda run-down
It does need a bit of a touch up for sure.
