Hundreds Rally for Cystic Fibrosis Cure at Santa Monica Beach Walk

Hundreds of participants walked along Santa Monica Beach during the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Greater Los Angeles Great Strides event on May 11, 2024. The event, held at Crescent Bay Park, 2000 Ocean Ave, Santa Monica, aimed to support the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis.
As the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's largest national fundraiser, Great Strides united families, friends, and donors to raise awareness and funds for research into the life-shortening genetic disease. With more than 50,000 people participating across nearly 300 walks nationwide, the event offered hope to those affected by cystic fibrosis by promoting the Foundation's mission.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation made significant progress in developing treatments and improving the lives of those with cystic fibrosis, leading the way with scientific and medical advancements. Their efforts doubled life expectancy for individuals born with the disease over the past 30 years. However, not all patients benefited from existing therapies, and the Foundation remained steadfast in its vision of finding a cure for everyone with cystic fibrosis.
Great Strides encouraged team-building, collaboration, and leadership as supporters came together for a common goal: making a difference in the lives of those affected by cystic fibrosis. The Foundation believed that by harnessing the power of community support, one day, no family would have to lose a loved one to the disease.
With the commitment and generosity of its supporters, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation continued its work to ensure no one was left behind on the journey to a cure.
