I upgraded from some clearance Elite Ti2 I bought and used last season. Those worked pretty good. But when I saw Cabelas had live 9” units for 50% off I decided to go with the live unit. Very excited to use it this season!
It's their job to come up with new products and try to make people think they need them. Just use what you have.

Is there any information regarding the differences in weight between a Live and a PRO? I read on the Lowrance site that the PRO is lighter than the Live by a bit and am curious about how they did that.
Other than screen size, what are the major differences between the HDS Pro 12 and HDS Pro 10? Is there a processing speed difference between both units?
You can also get the s3100 sonar module to upgrade your Live units to the same capability as the Pro. Also, if you are running ethernet from one main unit to others, you only need that unit to be a Pro and the others will display the Active Imaging HD and Active Target 2 sonar info.
Having a real hard time with glare. Can't see screen when the sun is out. I have a NEW Lowrance Elite FS 9". Got any suggestions to correct the problem?? I use Polarized sunglasses also.
Can I run the new active imagining HD with the module on my current HDS live for improvement?

What’s better to have at the console 2, 12s or 1, 16?
You can have 2 12s for the same price as 1 16 and have more screen space and functionality!
I don't use active imagine for trolling so upgrading my lives for a pro isn't worth it to me.

I just stay one or two steps behind. Wait for the clearance sales on something that is most likely as good for fishing as the latest and greatest. I picked up Carbon units instead of HDS Live. In year or two the Live will be a buck three eighty five. And there will be the very best units, Refurbs. Refurbs are the only units you can buy that are actually tested before they are shipped to you. Production stuff comes off the line and drops in a box.
