Thank you for the ride. I retired April 2017 and moved from Darien CT to Hillsboro NH shortly after. I used to use the bridge for vacations and my job training in Montvale at M-Benz and BMW. Great 47 year career and memories. Ride safe in your travels👍
People really love your scooter videos. Look at all these comments! :) I enjoyed also! It feels like flying at low level on that bridge and it has my favorite blue color. :) Your info always impress me - your good memory and your great capability to gather so much data about anything. I gave LIKE 500! :)
That was GREAT fun! Because of health issues and my advanced age I will NEVER be able to do that, but it was fun going full screen on the big computer monitor and turning the desk fan on low. I LOVE those "rest stops" along the bridge! What a great idea!! Fun video, AK!
This is a very beautifully designed bridge. I live in Maryland and I think the Chesapeake Bay Bridge needs to be redesigned and lanes widened. The new design of this bridge comes to mind if they ever redesign the Bay Bridge. It would just look beautiful to have this spanning the Chesapeake Bay. The large suspension section of the Bay Bridge would take on the same look as the new Cuomo bridge, and the smaller cantilever bridges would look more like the new section of bridge along the San Francisco Bay Bridge.
Thanks for another great adventure for this old man AK. Back in the day I drove truck over the old bridge more times that I want to count. but this was my first trip over the new Bridge. Love that little scooter or yours. I am amazed at the longevity you get out of the battery, and its long haul use. you might comment on what kind and size of the battery some time. thanks again and for sharing. ECF
I'm impressed with how long the battery lasts too! I remember traveling over the old bridge too, going all the way to the Palisades Center shopping mall. I'm not sure on the size of the battery but the scooter generally gets about 25 miles on a single charge with the way I use it.
@@ActionKid Wow that's a good amount of miles thanks for the answer Ken and again for taking this old man on many well enjoyed journey's . they are greatly appreciated.
I'm still catching my breath . That was a mission getting to the bridge . But well worth the ride AK not boring at all infact that was trippy, and alot of people enjoying there walks and bikes cool 🧡👍
Me and my mother spent the day in Tarrytown on October 18th, this past year and didn't know you can do this. Will most definitely be adding this to our iterinary in 2022!
I've crossed the Tappan Zee bridge a couple times on my motorcycle, its cool wt night because its lit up with colors and stuff. There's also the Bear Mountain bridge near there but that ones super short compared to the Tappan Zee.
When the first Tappan Zee Bridge was built, it was planned to connect to the Cross-Westchester Expressway (from Tarrytown to Rye) , a Rye -Oyster Bay Bridge (across the Long Island Sound), and the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway (north-south along the Nassau-Suffolk County border). It was meant to cut travel time between Long Island and the Hudson Valley, by allowing the traffic to avoid going through Queens, the Bronx, and Southern Westchester. Opposition to the Rye-Oyster Bay Bridge, traffic and noise, killed that part of the project.
Kind of long haul going back over to Westchester. I ride along 119 to pick up the north county trailway, back to Briarcliff where I park my truck.good ride
Wow, that looked exhausting, to say the least! I hope they have security patrols going back and forth during the day. I'd hate to be in a bad situation halfway over that bridge.
Awesome Scooter 🛴 ride through Terrytown and on that long but awesome bridge! Terrytown looks cozy. 👍😉 That hill in the beginning was intense for the scooter! The Autumn 🍂 foliage is filling in nicely there too.
What are your thoughts on renaming the bridge to Tappan Zee after the resignation of the latest Governor? It was named after a tribe native to that area. The new bridge was named after the first Cuomo Governor. I hear he was a good Governor, but that should be no reason to drop the name. However, I believe the Tappan Zee name sounds better. It's also what everyone knows it by.
Interesting tidbit on the crane that was used to build the replacement Tappan Zee Bridge, the custom-built crane, named "Left Coast Lifter" first worked on the eastern replacement span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge in California, which was needed to so it can be withstand large earthquakes, like what happened in 1989.
You mentioned it was a cable-stayed bridge. It looked familiar to one I drove across Sunday east of Louisville KY. Looked it up and sure enough it’s also a cable-stayed bridge. It’s called the Lewis and Clark Bridge.
If you have the time, continue to Poughkeepsie on Metro North and cross the Walkway Over The Hudson, a former railroad bridge. Absoulely gorgeous views, and no traffic crossing it. Has become a major national tourist attraction.
Hey AK. I used to cross the Tappan Zee Bridge many times when I worked in North White Plains commuting from Bergen County NJ back in the 1970's. I haven't been over the new Mario Cuomo Bridge since I'm now retired and living in Vermont. Next time you cross over into Rockland County, pay a visit to Nyack, NY. It's a quaint little town with some nice eateries and being right on the Hudson River, it offers some nice views, especially this time of year. Thanks for sharing your adventure.
I traveled across this new bridge to the Orchards in Warwick county Northwest New York. The Tappen Zee Bridge is a long road to get a ride across than the other bridges in state for riders and walkers. 😐🤔 I bet you can do a night video too 👍
Cool video Ken. Back in the 60's that bridge was known as the b that went right onto the water. Yeah, from the city it looked ahead to go right to water level...kind of an amusing thing to tell us kids then. Wow, that scooter is fast. Just 19mph, I thought you were going 30. Thanks for the good memory triggering Kenneth.
Oh yeah, that's a much better way of crossing the bridge Ken! . You didn't get the 'blues' this time . And nice to see the Autumn colours starting to come into their prime!
I remember watching your live stream last year when walked across this bridge. 😄 It's nice to see this bridge again on your e-scooter ride, and the view of the Hudson River is so awesome! 😍 Thank you for sharing, AK! 😃
Great video Action Kid , my son drove over that bridge ( well the old Tappan Zee bridge 5 days a week many years ago to go to Iona College, I have not been or seen the new one but my husband says it’s very nice, thanks for taking me along virtually on your ride, as usual another great video, you are the best! Regards from Norwood, N.J., stay safe!👍👍🌈🌈
Hey @actionkid would you say that 22 minutes is the average trip across from the station to Nyack? I live in downtown Nyack and commute into the city and the Hudson Link bus has been the bane of my existence and I'm thinking about buying an e-scooter. Any advice for someone who'd be doing it 5 days a week?
Basically yes. Naturally the original bridge was still in use while this new one was being constructed, so it's not the exact same location, but it's very close.
AK that electric scooter ride sure beats that long walk across the Tappan Zee Bridge you did on a previous video ,
Surely!
Must hav used hell of alot of blue paint for this bridge....but its nice though!
Thks for d ride tru.. twice.!AK
That's quite a ride - I bet you're glad you got your Scooter.
I'm grateful for the scooter!
Great video as always... Thank you for explaining the history of the name of the Tappan Zee bridge which was changed without the peoples knowledge.

Those rest stops are great to view the Hudson River and learn about different aspects of the bridge, history and surrounding areas.
@@ActionKid That's cool the designers included all those "bells and whistles" at the "rest stops"!
Thanks for sharing!

I hope one day the bridge can drop that name and go back to the original Tappan Zee Bridge :P

It was fun to see everyone on the bridge!
Nice scooter 🛴ride and that bridge looks great too , thank you for sharing A K 👍!!!
Is it true female riders get a free hug with every bridge crossing?
Not sure
Wow awesome ride , thank you , and TY for the history lesson ❤

Oh yeah. Been over the Bear Mountain Bridge many times from Harriman State Park driving up to Cold Spring.
@@TheFlatlander440 wow! Awesome!
Thank you❤️
They need to bring back the old name

I remember you walking this endless bridge last year. Thank goodness for your scooter.
Cool video other than @19:16 with those two bicyclists riding side by side instead of behind each other forcing you over.
Kind of long haul going back over to Westchester. I ride along 119 to pick up the north county trailway, back to Briarcliff where I park my truck.good ride
Just drove across this last month for the first time and wondered what the walkway/bikeway was like. Good job AK!
It's even long to drive across!
Such a charming video!!!!
I like your style..
Really a feast for the eyes!🤩😂
That scooter goes at like the perfect pace for suburban videos :)
There’s a short cut from the station to Broadway in Tarrytown
Wow, that looked exhausting, to say the least! I hope they have security patrols going back and forth during the day. I'd hate to be in a bad situation halfway over that bridge.
They should have courtesy "golf carts" making back/forth trips, ensuring people are ok crossing it.
This guy belongs in the Hall of Fame. Hall of Fame for what I don't know. But he belongs in the Hall of Fame.
You can hear the scooter struggling going up those steep hills.
Awesome Scooter 🛴 ride through Terrytown and on that long but awesome bridge! Terrytown looks cozy. 👍😉

I love bridges
I’ve crossed the beautiful and old Tappan Zee Bridge and Bear Mountain too!
Awe I’m sorry you dreadfully have to go back so soon. We appreciate you AK so much taking us a crossed

Very nice bridge. Good idea to cross on your scooter!😀
People are enjoying the walk or ride on the bridge, even though it may be a little chilly.

I've been on this once on a Bus (maybe it was the Old Bridge) but it felt like forever.

Bill in Fort Wayne Indiana
The name NEVER should have been changed. I only refer to that bridge as The Tappan Zee Bridge.
Nice ride AK! I liked the painted overpass tunnel 😎
where does the blue path go after your exit on the far side?
Great video!! I really miss Tarrytown!
do you feel vibrations when you’re on rough terrain? i’ve never ridden a scooter before i’m not sure how hard it is on your knees and wrists

I’ve been with you for some years now through different accounts i kids this channel
That's one long bridge!!!
Scooter ❤️
That bridge needs to be wider
what is the make and model of your scooter i have to get one.......
I do understand what you’re saying the constant blue and the noise of the cars in one ear become very repetitious with a little view.
I love bridges, but I don't think I could walk it either.

Not a fun crossing in the winter ❄️ with snow and ice. I could only imagine.
Not winter yet
I wonder where you put your camera?
i think AK uses a helmet com .
I think on his chest harness sometimes too.
Good Scooter ride Action Kid
What camera did you use for this? It’s incredibly smooth.
@actionkid it appears to be an Osmo but is it the pocket or pocket 2. I’m looking to get one, thanks
Interesting 🐦
Hey AK. where did you get that scooter and what’s the make/model? I’m interested in getting one one of these days.
16:04 - 15 miles [ on I-87/New York Thruway ] from NY City/Bronx [ Major Degan Expressway ]
Cuomo?? Oh please, this has to be re-named New Tappan Zee bridge!! 🤔🤔
First thing I noticed is that the two cars at the beginning did not stop at the STOP sign
Didn’t know you were in my neck of the woods. Hope you enjoyed it
no facilities. The chain linked fence works for me.
Ha !
Why don't you carry your Chamber Pot?
Some porta potty company should get with NY state and offer their services on that long bridge !
14:55 - The river is wide; the bridge is long.
Keep up the good work AK 👍
6:55 the green highway sign is a dead giveaway
how many miles do you get on a full battery on that scooter
Super interesting! 🛴💨
you need a Rion re 90 scooter
Damn, now I have to shave again … long ride bro 👍🏻🇺🇸
On weekends there’s a shuttle and it’s free
Was the Tappanzee bridge at this same location?
Basically yes. Naturally the original bridge was still in use while this new one was being constructed, so it's not the exact same location, but it's very close.
is there any where to park a car by the bridge?
i would like to go there, but im unable to take metro-north, because of a disability
What happened to Tappen Zee? What did he do wrong?
Hi Ken , good to see back in nyc . It’s good you’re not in Florida. Keep up the good work. Magma X con man
I’m gonna take the the train down there and run that route
I would be on that sidewalk as long as possible.
So you can’t ride the escooter on the sidewalk just like the bike?
Kudos to you Action Kid 👍🏽👍🏽💙
