The day Warner Brothers dropped this epic masterpiece LP I listened to the entire album day after day for 6 months and still listen to it weekly... A true gift to METAL FANS around the globe!
Just my piece here. Here's how I interpret this song:
This whole song is our inside spirit and soul telling our brain and mind-
Don't do stuff like wasting yourself over silly thing like a bad woman that would harm you, break you and use you up.
At the end of the day, it's just US. Our soul our mind our brain our body. Basically what Dio calls it real and forever that helps you look and feel. We are danger, stranger to ourselves not understanding our own worth and capabilities.
The inside is still dark, anger and pain. But at the same time it's master to all of this which indicates it can be controlled for our good. For this, don't let bad stuffs get to your mind. Run away from them. Protect your soul. Don't bluff and easily trust bad people, you are sure to fall next time.
And lastly don't dream of women. They will bring you down to their own level.
This is how I interpeted it. It may be completely opposite to what Dio would ve thought but this is how I m taking it while going through a bad phase.

I think you are right, i would just adjust one thing. Instead of "women", use "bad partner". Not every woman hurts, just the evil ones .and girls can be touched by this song cos we get hurt by evil men too. Just saying. Hope you find good people in your way.
If you have like autism. You'll probably get those thoughts. Because it is you fear with social situations. I have Asperger syndrom and the text is like simliar thoughts i get in like social aspects. If you do something, you think it just will be bad.
I don't really see that. I think the meaning is actually pretty clear. "Don't talk to strangers because they're only there to do you harm, Don't smell the flowers..." he's being sarcastic, exaggerating the "don't do this, don't do that" mentality we are given as children. When he begins to say, "I'm master, I'm danger" and all that, I personally think he is speaking as Satan, the devil or the tempter. The one who is always there, whether you like it or not. Tempting you to talk to the stranger, because maybe strangers know something that you don't... because remember, if you never smell the flowers, you may be safe, but you'll miss out on the wonderful fragrance. You'll miss out on life if you don't dare to take a risk... but if you do dare, you just might BE BROUGHT DOWN! All his songs are like this really. Living it up because maybe this life has more meaning than the next. Doing what most others are afraid to do, even if the price is your soul. Don't think he put a demon as the album art just to mess with people. The guy was very blasphemous and rebellious. Anyways, that's my thoughts on it.

This has to be my absolut favorit song of Dio and of all songs. Because the text is like what my childhood with struggles with Aspergers and loneliness. I have same thing today. Sometimes I really think everything is against me. If I do something can it means big mistake. Like go in a train or buss with lot of people I always just get out ASAP. Because I will think they will something to do with me. Because I have social anxiety. The text in this song is like thoughts I will think normally.

Oni raczej mieli normalne podejście do zła którego bardzo dzisiaj brakuje większości ludzi nie siali paniki etc nie rozpisując się czyli krótki jasny przekaż uważaj na nieznajomych koniec kropka,bez tego całego pitolenia o tym że nadejdzie straszny koniec świata i że wszędzie praktycznie jest ukryty diabeł ale też trzymając zło na dystansie nie pochwalają go tak to rozumiem tak samo jak z rainbow on the dark czyli z tęcza w ciemnościach.
Ale też nie oceniając nadmiernie ani nie przekreślając żadnego podejścia muzycznego do publiczności w treści bo na szczęście przynajmniej we wszystkich normalnych zespołach chodzi o pomoc odbiorcy w znalezieniu szczęścia.
